Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Worlds 2011 - San Diego, CA USA

well, I guess this means I wont have to travel much to help my kids earn an invite, like I did the last time it was in Orlando. Less events and no need to buy to many cards.

Thanks for thinking of the average players POP, or whatever initials it is these days.

San Diego?

Of for goodness sake. Doesn't the East Coast deserve a little more in the way of major tournaments?

2004 Worlds - East Coast (Orlando)

2005 Nationals - Midwest
2005 Worlds - West Coast

2006 Nationals - Midwest
2006 Worlds - West Coast

2007 Nationals - Midwest
2007 Worlds - Hawaii

2008 Nationals - Midwest
2008 Worlds - East Coast (Orlando)

2009 US Nationals - Midwest
2009 Worlds - West Coast

2010 US Nationals - Midwest
2010 Worlds - Hawaii

2011 US Nationals - TBD (Midwest almost certainly)
2011 Worlds - West Coast

Yeah, I've made this same argument in the past and I'm making it again.

But only TWO out of 15 major events is not very equitable.

Europe has how many players compared to NA?

I know you could respond, Japan might have more players than NA, but also consider the cost of shipping, I think Hawaii is cheaper than Japan, and SD obviously so.

No, I think that provided theres a big enough base that the % of players living in that area should be equal to the % of Worlds it gets. I'm not bothered by the fact that it's in NA when they have a huge player base, I just think after 6-7 years in the same country that a change would be good. Although I think that the players who worked hard all season to get invited should take priority, and Europe actually gets a similar number of invites to America.

I'd like to see a 4 year rotation of:

East Coast
Japan
West Coast
Europe

Each main player base that way should get at least 50% of the trips to be affordable, America 75% to compensate for the large playerbase and the base of the OP. ( East Coast is near Europe, West Coast Japan )

If shipping costs were a big problem, wouldn't have POP kept Worlds inside contiental America? I just think the coolest thing about Worlds is that all different cultures can be experienced, all within everyone's enjoyment for Pokemon.

Actually, you used to be able to say, "at least we got nats" since, while Ohio isn't quite on the East Coast, it's wasn't overly far for most players to get to. Now that they decided to move it, we're left with nothing.

This is the first year I haven't been able to attend nationals. I'm probably not going to be able to attend it again, and I'm almost certainly never going to go to worlds or the grinder.

Yes, thank you POP. Thanks for thinking of all the average players out there who would love a chance to at the very least play in the grinder. You've done a great job of making sure that all parts of the country have an equally fair chance at going./sarcasm :nonono:

@nnaann, while I think Japan would be a bit of a stretch, I do think that a worlds in London would be cool. However, you do have to consider the grinder, which really should stay in the US, so I'm not so sure how that would work.

Also, just keep in mind that it IS far easier to actually get invites in Europe than it is in NA. While you may have to travel farther, at least it's more likely that you'll have the chance of going.

This is total crap. It should be in Orlando. It's been on the west coast for three years straight. Let's start a potition to get it in Florida for 2011. Who's with me? If we get a lot of people they will have to change the site.

I love the fact that it's in San Diego again! I had a great time there last year, and it's the perfect location for a long vacation. So I'm gonna be saving a lot of money and prepare for another 3-week holiday in Cali next year :D

(also, no 12 hour time differences and 30 hour trips and 2000 dollar flights to get there for Europeans!)

Oh my god, if my post is SPAM then so are half the posts in this thread.

I heard it from a few people at the event. No, I do not have confirmation. Sorry for trying to share some information that I've heard? I forgot that every post in this thread has come with confirmation links authorized by TPCI, silly me.

gmab. =\

Where. Where did you hear that? Unless you are confirmation, please keep the SPAM to yourself.

For a mod, you sure are snappy. You need to relax.

Anyways, I'm down for Texas as the next Nate location. Also, it's obvious that TPCi doesn't like having events on the east coast during the summer. Why? Idk, ask them.

I am also down for Texas, I think it'd be a neat location, if not super hot. Although I heard great things about Indianapolis so I was kinda hoping they'd stick with that. I guess we'll see.

Heh... they should just move it to Baltimore so that the East Coast actually has a chance to attend a big event. Or, they could just put worlds in NY/FL.

Prodigal said it best--90 degrees on the east coast is horrible. 90 degrees on the west coast is niceeee. TPCi probably recognizes that. They probably don't want there staff to suffer, and realize the hardcore fans will make the trip either way.

I really doubt it has anything to do with how hot or cold it is out side. Not to mention, the event will be in a building with AC no matter how you look at it.

This also wouldn't explain putting nats in the Midwest which get's REALLY hot.

Gonna try and nudge everyone back to the topic at hand. This is about worlds, not nationals. While I know tempers are high about the West coast/east coast thing, make sure your posts mention something about worlds in comparison.

Here's at least hoping US Nationals are on the East Coast this year.

That would be 3 major events (2 Worlds + 1 Nats (2011)) out of 15 major events over 8 years. At least a step in the right direction.

As much as I'd prefer to see it in Orlando, you can't argue with what's been set in stone. People were skeptical about Indianapolis, and I doubt anyone would complain seeing Nationals there again this year. I've never been to San Diego, and I might just try to save up for the trip because I really would like to just travel for once, and take that vacation.

So maybe next year, gonna try to get out there.

And the argument that Indianapolis is in the middle of the country and is too far for the East Coast.. really? Its two hours from Columbus. srsly. I have to drive two hours to columbus when theres stuff going on down there.. whats two more hours for some of you?
