Right, I'm sorry, but I disagree, there's no way the bulk of people who buy the stuff are collectors. I'd argue there are far more people who play and don't give a care about collect-ability.

And I'd argue that the largest segment of Pokemon purchasing comes from the Kiddie crowd at the Walmart checkout line.

This argument gets made both ways a lot ... but there is really no way to prove either side. The TCG folks seem to assume that all big box store buys are little kids in spite of the fact that tons of serious players buy there too. The players seem to underestimate just how many random kids buy the cards but never get anywhere near OP or serious collecting.

I'm so fed up of reading this argument (this comment isn't directed at you vanderbilt_grad).

It doesn't matter what group of people buy the most cards, they're all important.

Collectors and small children are both consistent large sales.

Players are the future - Pokemon are investing into an OP system, it makes sense to have products to appeal to players right? They want those children to turn into players and buy those products for years to come.

Also, it is possible to have cards that appeal to everyone. Why is it impossible to have popular Pokemon with cool artwork that are playable?

I will be the first to COMPLETELY disagree with this statement. I can only HOPE that half the people who buy products from me actually join in on the organized play.

There are so many kids who, quite frankly, dont care that its a game. They have developed there own way to play with thier friends and that satisfies the need for excitement.

If I recall correctly, I remember reading that Pokemon OP accounts for less than 1% of total pokemon sales.

I am sorry but you are really off base with that statement.

Jimmy

I think it'd be cool to see reprints of all sorts of things. Personally I'd love to see this set be made of viable reprints - alternate-art playable primes, the important supporters and trainers, etc... One prerelease, set for the season.

Basically, you want a Pokemon Core Set.

(statement without any connotations whatsoever)

Them's the ones. According to Bulbapedia, here's what they look like...

Gamebreaking cards, these. And IMO would do a lot to balance the format.

I couldn't find a translation or a picture of Wonder Platinum. Anybody else got one of those?

It's on Bulbapedia:

Look at all of your face-down Prize cards. You may choose 1 Energy card you find there, show it to your opponent, and put it into your hand. If you do, put this card as a Prize card face up instead of discarding it.

New Primes... I say Dragonite and Venusaur. Charizard/Venusaur/Blastoise LEGEND would be unbelievably cool. Moonlight Stadium would be nice.

Holo Energy, sure I suppose if you're...well, what I call them doesn't matter, but I mean if someone really wants an all holo deck, that's their prerogative.

Oh, just say senior. It's obvious it's what you meant.

Anywho, I think that this'll be alright. I certainly won't hold my breath, but Lost World'll be great. Just my opinion, so yeah.

New Rare Candy will be nice as well. I'm really curious what will occur without new Primes or Legends or even an Alph though...

I didn't base that off what I think, it was directly from what the company said. They account for around 70% of their TCG sales to be from collectors. Argue all you want you'll get nowhere with it. You seem to think that every card in every set should be aimed at people who just play the game even when those types account for as Jimmy said less than 1%. They need a balance of playable cards and collectible cards in the sets to appeal to the total market and that's exactly what they have. And still some people... whine when it isn't all their way.

If you're one of those "far more people who play and don't give a care about collect-ability" I invite you to come on over to my trade thread...

If this were the case then the game stores would have the largest share of the Pokemon TCG market instead of the smallest.
Sorry. Sales figures from IGN just don't support your argument.

I just hope they dont reprint SP trainers and stuff... That whould suck. YES! dragonite prime, we need one of those, foil energies would also be great, roseans, collector, Mr. Briney's Compassion (it might not since we have seeker), bebes search, cyclone, warp, luxury ball. Im with the idea they mught reprint stuff they wana keep in format, or bring stuff back. but i sure hope they print Foil energies. :)

If we look at the time PK was released, we had a DX-On format. Translate that to now, that would be the equivalent to a PT-On format (First 7 sets of the block rotated)
PK included cards from HL as the latest, Pokemon wise at least. Which is equivalent to our MD. Fifth set in the block.

As such, if they're gonna reprint stuff, I think they won't go beyond MD. Which I think would be a great idea. Suppose they reprint Gallade but not Gardevoir - or Gardevoir but not Gardy X? Reprint Magmortar but not Magmortar X. Stuff like that.

I'm hoping for AMU MT (Azelf in particular) and Mr. Mime MT mostly.

So now this thread is basically what we want reprinted. Is this what will happen every time a set will be released? We will think they're reprinted Claydol and Rosie and NiMa?
