Pokemon™ Black•White-themed Happy Meals arrive in participating McDonald’s® stores across North America beginning June 17, 2011, as one of the world’s most popular entertainment properties launches its Happy Meal promotion with the leading foodservice provider. Pokémon fans visiting North American McDonald’s locations June 17–July 7 can purchase a Happy Meal featuring one of eight McDonald’s exclusive Pokémon figures, including Pikachu and brand-new Pokémon Reshiram, Zekrom, Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Zorua, and Zoroark, as well as one of twelve Pokémon Trading Card Game cards1, to celebrate what has already been a blockbuster year for the franchise. The Pokémon Company International continues its McDonald’s Black•White Happy Meal promotion in major markets around the world later in 2011 and 2012.

“The Pokémon franchise is having an incredible year, and partnering with McDonald’s is definitely one of our highlights,” said J.C. Smith, director of Consumer Marketing for The Pokémon Company International. “We’re excited that our fans can visit McDonald’s, purchase a Happy Meal, and enjoy something special from Pokémon.”

The Pokémon Black•White Happy Meal promotion will be supported by McDonald’s through a fully integrated marketing campaign that includes television advertising, in-store POP, and online activities at McWorld.com and HappyMeal.com.

The Pokémon franchise continues to be one of the most enduring entertainment brands in the world. The release of the Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version video games for the Nintendo DS™ family of systems have shattered sales records with more than 11.5 million copies sold since their release in Japan last September and in the United States and Europe this March (Nintendo, March 2011). The all-new Pokémon Trading Card Game: Black & White expansion launched in April, adding to the more than 15 billion Pokémon TCG cards produced worldwide. A new season of Pokémon animation on Cartoon Network, Pokémon: Black & White, and a new feature length film, Pokémon—Zoroark: Master of Illusions, have also been released this year.

Why cant they have these promotions at chipotle or a place where you can eat and stay jacked instead of eat processed trash? :(

Chipotle? Really? McDonald's Redux?

It'd be nice if something like Subway, Quizno's, or something similar had this. At least I wouldn't feel as guilty about eating crap...

It's not that bad. Cokes are $1 now and toys are $1 too. Might as well go there if your looking for a drink and near a mcdonalds, which is hard not to be.

Chipotle's actually really good for you, as long as you don't load it with sour cream and extra unnecessary stuff. Taste so good too, if I had a snorlax we'd live there.

Hey c'mon, the fish sandwiches aren't THAT bad.

I'm just glad I can just buy the toys for $1 without having to buy the Happy Meal deal.

I wonder what cards it'll have... Hopefully they won't be commons riped straight from a pack of Black/White.

BONUS POINTS??: Some kind of manufacturing error makes some cards worth a LOT more than others. :D

not to be a spoilsport, but the last time they did this competitive players were very upset with how 'lame' the cards were...completely forgetting the fact that they are not the target audience here.

i would personally not get my hopes up that the cards will be anything gamebreaking; imho the cards are going to be chosen for their appeal to children who have no experience with the game.

Inferno Fandango Emboar anyone?

If the cards were worth getting, they better not be exclusives. Look at how poorly the run for Promocroak went. That product was hard to find a few weeks after it was released. Because promocroak was so good, the price went up quite a bit. The cards should be "flagship" cards that kids get excited about seeing. Who wants a silly Goods card when you can have Tepig or Snivy. This promotion is intended to have kids who eat at McD get excited about pokemon cards. Seeing a good card isn't what they want... they want to see a character that they really like. Because some of the good cards are those "flagships" (Zoroark, Reshiram, and Zekrom), there may be legitimately good cards coming from this campaign. If anyone works at McD, they'll be getting major discounts on those cards *cough*.

I, personally, dislike that they are doing McD promotions. I understand it full well financially. McD attracts a lot of kids, and kids get excited about pokemon cards when they get a Snivy card, but really. Pokemon is a somewhat progressive product. I would want to believe that they approve of better health habits and what not. That being said, it is a company behind our game in search of new customers, and the McD promotion is a very good marketing campaign. I just don't agree with the location...
