Wow, this no CP for BR's thing really just materialized out of thin air.
Then people wonder why we can't get the green light to announce partial info prior to the official announcement.

Look, I know it’s not much but:

  • Battle Road events will have CPs.
  • The rest of the information for 2013 is nearly through all of the hoops that must be traversed before it can see the light of day.
  • No, I really could not have said this earlier.
  • I’m sorry that the BR info was not up earlier, it really should have been.

While I am grateful you at least recognize the awful timing of this information being released, I would love to hear your thoughts (or anybody who works for TPCI) on the many points brought up about the company you work for.

"My NDA makes me unable to discuss my opinion and the opinions of my colleagues about TPCi with the public"

I'm sure that'll be his answer

I'm not really fishing for opinions about his colleagues.

More like answers as to why the company he works for (which is apparently staffed and run by a handful of people) is really terrible at everything they do.

So the new season starts on September 1st.

I'd take that as tPCI shouldn't be obligated to release information until September 1st.

Seems logical to me.

that sounds like a good way to lose one's job, by posting criticism of how it's run on a public messageboard...

jmho.

Are you kidding me? I'm not asking him to say everyone he works for is lazy at their job. I didn't ask for criticism!

I just want an explanation. If we could learn the PROCESS at which Pokemon makes their UNTIMELY decisions, we could at least UNDERSTAND why they are so bad at what they do, and we wouldn't need to rant about it!

Do you not get that?

Aw, you guys are such sweet talkers! <3

Way to take this seriously like an adult!

Seriously Biggie, this is a real issue and it shouldn't be taken lightly. A company shouldn't keep their customers in the dark. Even if they need to say that they are having trouble "jumping through hoops", they should make that announcement. The company is indeed terrible at what they do, and people are getting fed up as you can see

How can you say "this no CP for BR's thing really just materialized out of thin air. " ???

It materialized because information was released piecemeal to a player base who have become disgruntled with your company's lackluster ability to release information in a timely and professional manner. Then, because of the unprofessional way information was released, beit from your company or through a leak, rumors were started as players attempted to interpret the information we were given. That's the obvious reason. It really bothers me that you seem to see this rumor as something that materialized out of nothing.....

I get that you have hoops to jump through, I get things are more complicated than they seem, but here's what the player base needs to hear from you in order to have some of their faith restored:

1. Why was the "no top cut at BRs information" released piecemeal? Was it a leak? Was it intentional?

2. What exactly is the process that this information and planning has to go through that causes the information to release this close to the start of the season?

2. a. Can this problem be fixed, and the information be released earlier next year?

2. b. If you cannot in any way release the information earlier for next year, why not just just push the season back about 1-2 weeks next year, so you can have ample time to announce the necessary information to your player base?

3. What was the reason top cuts were eliminated from BRs?

3. a. If the reason was to make BRs a less competitive environment and to help new players adjust to the game, then why leave CPs as part of the factor thus causing them to stay just as competitive?

I want to end on a positive note. I really love this game, and I have faith in this company. All relationships have rough spots, but talking things through, and doing so honestly, can help us to work through these issues as player base and company. Ignoring the issues will only complicate the problems. Thank you for hearing me out, and I hope someone official will respond to my questions.

I think what most people fail to understand is that whenever someone from TCPi posts here on the 'gym, they're doing something that they're really not supposed to do. Occasionally, they'll let something out, because they probably desperately want to share any info they can with us, even though they can't. These guys are typically the ones we want to rant at and call out simply because they're the ones that put themselves in a position to communicate with us directly, even though they're usually the members of TCPi that care the most about the sake of the community itself.

As to why TPCi's management prefers to make its decisions behind closed doors is another issue entirely, and one that we very well might not ever get the answer to.

Having some news today is a positive. Still hope BRs have been reduced significantly, and we know there will be big changes. Most importantly, players know what they're doing this weekend now (though still incredibly late).

>Remove top cut from Battle Roads to make them less crowded and cutthroat
>Keep Championship Points so they are crowded and cutthroat

Fantastic.

This is my general feeling too, but I'll reserve judgment until we know how many CPs and how many Best Finish Limit.

This is the problem, articulated very nicely. When communicating with the player/customer base is something that "they're really not supposed to do," it's a huge problem.

Oh, we understand that their job doesn't entail communicating with customers. We understand that very well, and that's why we want their isolationist PR policy changed. I'm not demanding an explanation from anyone, but I hope that someone from TPCi/OP understands that the lack of communication is hurting the player/customer base.

I wasn't exaggerating when I said that. Top to bottom, TPCI is awful at... everything. Customer service, communication (with customers and TO's), programs your TO's use, judge rulings, tournament structure, the atrocious pile of garbador you people call a WEBSITE, I could go on and on.

After how many years of complaints, you still host Worlds in Hawaii??

And even the tiniest of petty stuff, things that shouldn't even be an issue. For example...

Did you know a guy at Nationals, this past year, had a shirt on with a tiny pikachu face over his breast, looking vaguely similar to the staff shirts TPCI was wearing. So, a TPCI staff person told him TO CHANGE HIS SHIRT OR LEAVE. Like.... I was literally speechless when I heard this.

Like...... Jeeze. Pikachu is ashamed. :nonono:

Probably the only thing TPCI has done right, was implement +3 turns after time. (Which I heard it was Jimmy Ballard who had to really fight for this to get accepted and put into effect.) Looks like you got 1 check in the win column.

I think you left out that their mothers dress them funny.

I don't think you understand the problem then. You shouldn't be releasing this information bits at a time . You should release it all together in a timely fashion. (And a timely fashion would have been much earlier than now.)

Do you really expect me to believe that someone who posts a message, uses their full name and puts the logo of their employer in the post, is doing this solely as their own personal act, and not on behalf of their company?

If I did that where I work, I would get slapped pretty hard. If I leaked unauthorized information, I might well be fired.
