Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Why I love DP4-the broken cards of DP4

And you guys on the 'gym complain that good players don't discuss strategy with the community =(

Leftovers is just good with him in general... I mean, why would you EVER object to leftovers on a 200hp pokemon who ALREADY heals himself if hes asleep. It's not about healing on the bench (that would be BROKEN if so).

It's such a good thing Rare Candy's coming back with all these amazing stage 2's. I'm definetly playing with Sceptile.

Togekiss is also amazing as far as powers go, and Kabutops is just FTW! He makes up for Fossils counting as prizes when KO's. Thanks for posting those Ryanvergel.

Okay, I see the combo with Xatu now. He gets hit, he goes to sleep, you use Xatu to move the status on the opponent. Not that hard to figure out.

But Wailord only does 60 damage, and for 4 energy. That's way below average, and even with 200HP, pokemon like Gallade and etc are just going to go to town with him. Well I guess you could put a Holon Energy WP on him with a water to protect against effects. Not that bad. I just think it'd be too slow against decks like Kabutops that get setup guaranteed on T2.

use wailord with dawns sadium too
if you keep smacking that 25% chance of still bieng asleep after your opponents turn, drop an energy, remove a counter, and wake up

seriously, 200 hp? what were they thinking...

Other than one the few threads discussion japanese cards, the statement is true. You rarely see many accomplished player come onto this board and discuss ideas as freely as people do in threads like these.

My question for you is this. What changes between the time these cards are released in japan and when they are released in america that deters players from having casual, friendly, discussions about them?

edit:

On the wailord idea, how do you get them to the bench so easily?

the possibility of mistranslation (fossil excavator anyone?), trying to focus on the here and now and waiting to hold the cards in your hand, a sever lack of interest, ect

you can get the wailord on the bench with either two mantine and retreating, one mantine and discard two (makes dawns stadium more worth using), or alot of switches and warp points

Getting the mantines out with the xatu and the multiple wailord just makes my reasoning that the deck might not be fast enough to stand up with other decks more chance of being correct.

What changed? Nothing.

If people stopped DEMANDING us to discuss, we would. Also, consider this, with SO many good cards we can discuss strategy and STILL keep some combos hidden that we may use. There is SO much to discuss now that there are dozens of things we could say and still have our decks concealed. You guys don't realize the depth of this set. I mean, in the past hour alone (I only saw the translations this morning) I could've come up with 10+ playable decks.

As far as wailord goes, yes... 4 energy sucks. But that's what cards like 'stoise or togekiss are for. Getting to the bench? Just play some switches or WP and a psychic or two (that lapras can get out).

Rip a togekiss off and you can have 2 powered wailords to bide you time. I'm not going to discuss another combo with wailord I saw to give you a LOT of time to set up. Maybe you guys can figure it out.

I'm looking forward to seeing Mike Cook play exploud, lol. His favorite pokemon has been rather bad lately, but this new set just made it disgustingly good.

lol, how does it need to be fast?
if i get a slow start, ill stall with a 200 HP WAILORD
unless i completely wiff on draw and search, by the time you take him down, i will AT LEAST have something setup
seriously, with this set, fast isnt going to be running the format, setup decks are making a comeback baby

There has been little to no discussion since like DX-on. It makes no sense to say that people don't discuss because people demand them to. Nobody demands them to. Heck, in all the time I've been ranting on the issue, I've never demanded players to discuss. I just said it would be nice for them to discuss. Stop trying to come up with excuses for why players don't discuss. I guarantee you this. By the time this set comes out in america (DP4 - the set after Secret Wonders), there will be just as little conversation as there was before.

I'm thinking about just moving our little discussion to another thread where we could really hash out why players don't have casual, friendly discussions anymore. I'd rather not spam this thread any further.

Haven't there been, like, a sideways eight number of similar discussions already? Why would it work?

You "kiss" the wailord and speed it up! Drop a holon WP on it, and with W on it, prevent effects.....with P on it, free retreat!

My son loved the old wailord EX card....maybe he will go back to the big ole whale!

i can't speak for everyone but i don't post many or any of my strategies because i only like helping myself and my friends. i'm not going to lie. my friends come WAY before random kids i've never met on pokegym. if i can help myself win and my close friends win, then i'll feel MUCH more accomplished than i would if i helped a random gym kid win. that's just how i feel. as you can see, i do post strategy, deck help, etc. from time to time.

Will the Gardevoir + Lvl X be in Secret Wonder?

I like Call Energy somehow, maybe because it seems to be perfect for a Chansey start.

Togiksiss + Salamence Sw and Pk could be scarry. Ugg 150 to the active, 100 to any bench or a lovly 30 spread to all benched. That and Omastar pk could be devastating.
