Hi there. I was wondering: if my opponent has a Sceptile (Emerald 10) active with a grass energy on it, can I play Hypnotoxic Laser just to get rid of it from my hand? My knowledge of the game keeps telling me: "no, you can't play a card for no effect!"; am I right in this? Thanks!

Am I allowed to play a Trainer, a Pokémon or an Energy card reprinted from a set that's not present in HGSSon format? For instance: is it valid to play NOW a Rare Candy from EX Sandstorm? Or I have to take them from Unleashed? Thanks
