Hi!

Ok, this report is really just to get rid of that annoying ...it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks message that greets me every time I check in.

I won a Battle Road today, so I am using that as an excuse to post. I played Kingdra, so how much can you learn from reading this report??

I was out of the game for most of the 07-08 season, but come DP-on I picked up on the game again. I've tested Leafeon/Magmortar, Torterra and a few other decks, but today I was torn between AMU and Kindra. AMU is more food for thought, but Kingdra is a beast, no doubt about that. I took a chance that not everyone was playing anti-Kingdra decks and went for the water dragon.

Round #1 against Kim Erik (Ho-Oh/Togekiss)
We got set up reasonably well both of us and he got a Ho-oh loaded turn 3ish. However he has to flip right on Ho-Ohs power since Kingdra is a OHKO even with Snowpoint temple out. That just doesn't happen. I think he flips tails for the first 3 flips and shortly after concedes due to his failing luck.
1-0

Round #2 against Live (Kingdra/Blissey/Metagross/Regice)
Since my deck is just a straight-forward build I have better chances of getting a good set-up. I was ahead from the first turn. And when she finally got set up there was little chances to get even on prizes.
2-0

Round #3 against Stian (Torterra/Sceptile)
Ok, this deck can be a challenge with water-resistance and all, but when he has a turn 2ish evolved Sceptile and Torterra, I knew the game was over. Nonetheless I fought to the end, and managed to make the game last for about half an hour. I was one PlusPower away from KO on a Torterra that might have turned the game somewhat in my favor, but I didn't get it...
2-1

Round #4 against Steffen (Houndoom)
The deck can be a nuisance doing a 100 damage turn 2. He got the first two prices, but once Kingdra started swarming there was no way to Bubble Coat Houndoom out of a defeat. I think it went from 0-3 in prices to 6-3 or something like that.
3-1

Round #5 // Top 2 in Masters against Stian (Torterra/Sceptile)
Ok. We have an hour to do a best of three and I hope he doesn't have the same luck as he did during swiss. It turns out that is not the case. We both misplayed a lot turning the first game, but even though I miscalculated an Aqua Stream by 10 damage I won the first game after 45 minutes.

Game two he has a much better set up, so I just concentrated on making the road as tought for him as I could. He was down to two prices when time was called. I had about four.
4-1

Props:
- Nice prices
- Getting back into the game

Slops
- Someones cellphone got stolen...

Well, that's all folks. Thank you for your time!

Well ... Turtwigs, Grotles and the entire Sceptile line all have reistance, so I'd say resistance still plays a huge role in this match-up.

Good job, Simon! Great comeback. :D

Congrats Daddiursa! Ex-Mod FTW!

Just an aside: It sounds like that second game should have counted as a win for him, using the new Floor Rules.
He drew 4 prizes, that's counts. So it should have gone to sudden death.

Torterra doesn't have water resistance.

Good job on the win.

Thanks!! Oh, btw I just stated that the deck has water resistance, meaning Sceptile and the Turtwigs etc.. Turtwig can prevent an early OHKO from a turn 2 Kingdra, so the resistance bit of the Torterra deck is a thing to consider IMO.

After the tournament was over someone mentioned that there was some new rules regarding this. But Evens, who was TO and sat right besides us during the finals, apparantly wasn't aware of this either.

Great job on winning first prize! If only crystal shard was still useable. Then Kingdra would be even more broken in this format than it already is.
