Oh Wailord, you just didn't get your friends in GE and don't really combo with anything right now. Blastoise can tech to stop weakness and waterlog (possibility of holon shrine on that turn and as a stall card) to energise. Or lapras could set it up. There's enough possibilities to make it a considerable tier two deck.

Currently, the problem is that your opponent might just ignore Wailord's slow minor damage and start an army swarm up.

I like Wailord, when the right combo is found, this whale may even reach the point of winning worlds or being too heavily teched against to win worlds. Either of which is an honour.

Whilst impressive Wailord's high HP counts for nothing in a metagame where any pokemon even a 10,000,000HP monster is only 2 hits away from a knock out.

Why do peoeple think he's supposed to be attacking? He sits there and lets you do stuff to your bench (oh, idk, lets say swampert ex to grab 3 scrambles?). And there are some other ideas I've seen work with him. Weakness is a null point and only sonic blade is even a threat to him (not really when I drop a wp on it with swampert, ect.).
8/10

This card is OK. Like Justin T. said he is a wall and with a couple of tools and trainers he can be a pokemon that ever gets K.O. This is a very smart card overall.

i'll give it a 7/10.

Tharrrr she blows!

Wailord's 200 HP may be nothing short of impressive, but it's other stats leave something to be desired. 60+possible auto-Sleep for 4 Energies is just too little, too slow in today's format, even with Scrambles and DRE's. Wailord's Poke-Body synchronizes well with his attack, but it's still not enough to make him playable - Sleep doesn't last long enough to make much of a difference. Double Weakness to Electric hurts a little, especially with all the Pachirisu GE running around. Its Retreat Cost of 4 will leave Wailord stranded if you don't have anything to switch out or heal it.

Sorry, Moby, but you only get a 2/5 in my book.

just use it as a sheild while u get everything u need on ur bench...thats wat i see it as is a really big blob (that can swallow ships whole)and can just be well....there....so i also agree that once we find something that goes well with him he will blow people out of the water

I did something like this with 2 on 2 battling with mysterivus from lm and snoralax frlg it wasn't that great but this is a nice beefy tool that is stalling into some decks. :thumb:

nice when combod with lots of healing eg potions etc....
fun card- thus i like it! :)
(BRING BACK FUN CARDS!!)

Wailord has great defense: 200 HP, removing a damage counter when Asleep. It is bad attacking and retreating.

I love Wailord. Great HP, great art, great Pokémon. Sure, his attack, weakness and retreat cost can be problematic, but like anything else in this game there are ways around it. To speed up the big guy, he should preferably be played with Blastoise SW (you won't even need a Holon Circle if he's active because he should survive most hits), including the Blastoise family can also allow you to get around his weakness by using the delta Stoise (who's alot more reliable against Electivire Lv. X than Glaicia's Stadium). As for his retreat cost, if you desperately NEED to retreat him, a Mantine or two can alleviate that for him. All in all, I think it's a good card to build a deck around, because let's face it, he's definitely going to be the biggest fish in your deck.

(Disclaimer: I know whales are mammals.)
