Today's CotD is Mismagius from SF. Statwise, Mismagius is ok, with 80 HP (10 less than usual for a Stage 1), a +20 Weakness to :dark: (good since :dark: is an uncommon type played), a -20 Resistance to :colorless (ok since :colorless Pokemon are around), and costs a cheap :colorless to Retreat. Crash Chant is an ok attack, letting you discard any 4 TMs or Pokemon Tools in play and dealing 20x the number you discard, up to 80 damage total; however, despite the fact it is a free attack, it's rare when you'll ever see Pokemon Tools or TMs, especially ones that last over a turn (Unown G blocks Crash Chant I believe, so you can't get rid of it sadly). Horror Chant is interesting, dealing a solid 40 damage for :psychic::colorless and if your opponent has 4+ Pokemon on their bench, you can send 1 of them and all cards attached back into their hand. This isn't as attractive as Dusknoir DP's Poke-Power (which you can use on the bench), but still viable.

Modified - 6/10 (Ok and can fit into some decks, but overall is outclassed usually by Dusknoir DP)
Limited - 7/10 (Odds are you won't use Crash Chant, but Horror Chant is a decent attck)
Unlimited - 1/10 (No...just no)

Worthless since you can't get rid of Unown G with its first attack. Second attack is only a good staple for those whom don't want to bid farewell to Dusknoir (DP) after the format change.

2/10

I don't believe it can get rid of Unown G, so its one potential use is shot down the drain, and Horror Chant is overshadowed by Dusknoir. She's just not that usefull...

I'll give her a 6/10, but only because Horror Chant can still be pretty effective.

Oh, someone please correct me if I'm wrong about the whole Unown G thing.

Crash Chant

Q. If Unown-G is attached as a tool to a Pokemon and the opponent uses Mismagius' "Crash Chant" attack, would Unown-G be discarded or not?
A. No, Unown-G's GUARD would prevent it from being discarded and you don't get to add 20 for that tool to Crash Chant's damage either. (Nov 20, 2008 PUI Rules Team)

Seems your right.

Well, that seems a little monotonous (seeing as its effect targets G and not the pokemon it is attached to), but, keh, the ruling's team are whom get to decide that and not me.

Rating reduced to 2/10. Just not worth it anymore, unless you really need the second attack.

Mismagius cannot discard Unown G. Like Pachirisu, anything that discards cards off the defending Pokemon (be it energy, trainers, tools, or even evolutions), it is considered attacking the defending Pokemon.

Currently, there is no legal way to be rid of Unown G.

It's in the compendium people, use it. :thumb:

Yeah, got to love it when your internet connection cuts out every five seconds. ^^;; Only a few moment after you'd said this, I placed it here myself...

I still am a little sore on that note, but I'm not in a position to do much about it. :frown:

If it had no damage cap, it would be up there with Kingdra & Dusknoir. But with the damage cap, it is only a tier 2-3 deck.

It can be worse, you can be ninja'd by vadrake

The problem is it doesnt discard off of the defending it just discards it doesnt even mention the defending pokemon in crash chant so if i were to come across this problem in a tourny i was judging i would honestly have to rule it the way the card reads becuase the card just says to discard pokemon tools and technical machines if u agree with me on this pm me with your views on it

There is a ruling. Mismagius CANNOT discard a G because it's discard function is an EFFECT OF AN ATTACK...

G PREVENTS effects of an attack.

So, yeah... even without the ruling... you just read the card. It's sort of obvious.

This has been explained countless times. There's no reasonable way to say that discarding an Unown G doesn't have an effect on the Pokemon it was attached to. To paraphrase PokePop, if I steal your wallet, you'd still complain that it had an effect on you, right? I could word it however I wanted... just call it "a wallet" and leave all mention of you out of it. You'll still be upset that I jacked your wallet. It's an effect, so Unown G prevents it. You might want to start carrying one in your pocket just in case.

If u was to rule it so that it could be discarded,
you would NOT be following the ruling
in the compendium..

Just because you feel different wouldn't give
you the right to go against the LEGAL
ruling.

Any judge that does do something like that
shouldn't be judging in the first place.

§ No matter how its worded, it is an effect from the attack
and it will be affecting the pokemon Unknown G is attached to.

Could we keep this thread on topic now =/

This is THE mewtwo x counter in regigigas and other basic decks.
No need to add in psychic energy. An oft overlooked fact is that you can discard your OWN unown g's with its first attack. Since gigas plays 2+ Gs and usually a Q or two, finding fodder for a quick discard and then TSD/NM etc them back next turn is no problem.

Every other counter I have seen people post involves several colorless energy which waste valueable time and turns to power up(Driftblim LA) or some sort of colored energy which takes up deck space(Exeggutor LA). This card only needs minimal support. At most, you'd need to add in 3 cards to your deck. Misdreavus, Mismagius, and an extra Unown Tool card(take your pick, E, G, Q) so that when the need arises, you can have 3 tools to discard for a cool 120 to a Mewtwo Level X.

I do wish there was no damage cap on Crash Chant. That would make the card a contender rather than just a counter.

7/10. Average HP. Cheap attacks with nice effects. Damage cap limits potential.

God, my mistake made too much of a discussion here... o_o;;

My apologies for the goof up.

Lol you are not at fault

I liked this card at 1st.. Then I realized it couldn't
kill Unknown G and wasnt happy =(

Its "Horror Chant" attack could be useful in place of
dusknoir if your not stage 2 crazy..

I have seen it put with Dusknoir before. Pretty much
was a deck that said "NO BENCH FOR YOU" lol.

Im going to be gentle and give it a 7/10 just because
it is still a decent card... Just has Dusknoir's shadow
casting on him 24/7

You know the attack is energy-less so make a tm/item deck and this as the main, first turn attack 80 damage-can equal auto win, other then that it can support some other Pokemon but you would need more luck compared to other :psychic: typed decks such as of course Dusknoir, Gengar, Cresselia, AMU, Alakazam ETC.

I tried it with my Dusky deck BEFORE it was beefed up by +2 Gengar and +1 Dusky X and +2 Giratina, so I can't say for certain until I get enough items/tms, remember amulet coin and leftovers aren't always bad...
For now 6/10
