Todays cotd is the ever popular unown G

I will skip the attacks and hp cause they dont matter, because you would only use it for its pokepower. You can attach it to a pokemon and you get to prevent all the effects of an attack. So this means no gengar putting damage counters, and no ohko with machamps takeout, along with a bunch of other attacks. This is really great for putting up with gengar, and a must for sp decks whenever a machamp deck is sited. But I dont know if even unown g can save sp decks from machamp

The really bad part about this card is that it is really expensive. About 20 bucks!!! for a fricking unown!!!!!! Its an uncommon and its going for prices higher than most secret rares. This is why I dont like this card, I feel that it gives richer players the advantage, plus even sp decks wont even need it in most matches.

For price and other things 7/10

^ I get them for 50 cents.

Anyways, the only reason why I beat the Gengar decks, Unown G. When I'm playing Gengar, the only reason why it's so good. (Alakazam lock then free prize) Better than the energy that has the same effect as this.

Even if SP decks teched this in, it would not hold Machamp long.

Tell me where you see this, because that would make me so happy. I went on eBay and the highest I can find for 1 Unown G is six bucks.

I've got so many of these things that I could make a fortune on that...

Anyway, Unown G is... Unown G. Its Guard power is amazing and essential in a lot of decks, especially if they have bad match-ups with Machamp and Gengar...

9/10 due to Unown G starts being terrible.

Unown G has saved the Format.

It saved it from Dusknoir at Cities.

It has saved it from Machamp and Gengar ever since.

It's moved from being a tech to being a staple.

9.5/10

Today's CotD is Unown G from GE, one of the most played (and for a good reason) cards in this format. Statwise, 50 HP is ok for a Basic (but really, is irrelevant considering how you play Unown G), +10 Weakness to :psychic: (not too great), no Resistance, and :colorless to Retreat. The only reason you will use Unown G is for its GUARD Poke-Power, which lets you attach Unown G as a Pokemon Tool to one of your Pokemon, and then prevent all effects of an attack (excluding damage) done to it. This effectively renders whatever Pokemon Unown G is attached to immune to anything: Status Conditions, damage counter placing attacks, a certain attack called Take Out, and so on. It's even near (if not, completely) impossible to get rid of, bar KOing whatever Pokemon it's attached to. Other than that, Hidden Power is meh, 50 for :psychic::colorless is nice, except if Unown G has any damage on it, that shrinks down to a base 10 damage.

Modified - 10/10 (If you're not using a few of these in your deck, you'd better be able to justify not using it, especially given the status of today's format)
Limited - 5/10 (Far less useful, aside from blocking the random effect really)
Unlimited - 2/10 (No use here much)

Unown G stops Machamp and makes SP decks playable. It also helps against Gengar and anything else that places damage counters.

10/10

It's a format-changing card that is one of the four most important Pokémon-staples. Since there are only three (of about 500+) other Pokémon cards (Claydol, Uxie, Azelf) which are found in so many different decks, it's definitely 10/10.

The problem is just that it attaches per power, which means 1) you can't use it if powers are locked and 2) you can't (or at least don't want to) search it via Call Energy against Gengar decks. But else than any other tool cards, it's searchable with both Roseanne and Bebe which makes it a great card.

It's almost never used as an actual Pokémon, but the attack isn't that bad. 50 for 2 on a basic that's not for attacking can be nice, there are even people who got T2 donked by Unown G. =P

It is one of the worst cards out there
Hardly any decks can use it
Is only good to start with

...in opposite world!

Haha that made me giggle.

Unown G is a must in every deck (at LEAST one), no reason not to. Guard is just too good. Helps against damage counters, status effects by attack, switching by attack, and things like Gardy X's Bring Down. Yay Unown G

9/10 (would be 10 if the crobat/poke turn/crobat/uxie's psychic restore ftw didnt happen as much :thumb: )

As a GeChamp player, you can only imagine how much I play this card. It is one of the best cards in format, and most decks are going to have to play at least two of them.

9/10, only because it counters my deck. :p
