Card of the Day REWIND!! UNLIMITED

[gal=45414] 2010-1-17 Blastoise EX FRLG 104/112 [/gal]

Wow, never knew this card existed.

I personally like it better then Feraligatr Prime for no reason what-so-ever.
10/10

Yay Unlimited! My favourite format!
4 Energy for 80 is low for this format but no drawback and discarding energy can never be bad. The Power is good and could be interesting if used well. Main drawback is 2 Prizes if KOed, 3 if Expert Belt is attached to make that attack do 100. Soild HP is good, weakness is bad and no resistance isn't great either + a bad retreat cost.

6.5/10 - would by higher but the prize card penalty hurts. Plus there are MUCH better cards in the format.
(but I do give it an extra 4 points cause Blastoise is my favourite Pokemon... soo...)
10.5/10!

Boy does time fly...What you have here is a five and a half year old card!!!

8/10 in unlimited. It can stand to be the centerpiece of more deadly combos than Blastoise base, Blastoise SW, and Feraligatr Prime combined. It's also not too trashy of a clinch attacker.

well, there is much to say, but I will say it shortly:

Great card if we think about the Metagame 5 years ago....

8/10

having in mind that you can charge a water energy to any pokemon for the low cost of placing a damage counter , the legendary blastoise ex does its function, speed up the energy on your side...don't use it to attack (unless needed, it's an ex, 150 hp and double weakness, might cost you two prizes) and don't even think about putting an expert belt to it (...its already an EX pokemon)

unlimited

8/10

I lied. I'm back, just for this. x3

Okay, Blastoise EX... I love this thing. I think the only EX I managed to get more use out of back in the EX Era was Swampert (Energy Cyclone). Blastoise still can play a key role in any deck that requires excess energy (think Blissey or Tyranitar), and due to the fact that it can attach to any Pokemon and the existence of such cards as Lucian's and Energy Link, the best can be made of the situation via any Pokemon that knows Rage.

Truly an interesting card, and worthy of a rewind.

8/10 Unlimited
8/10 Modified (back in the day!)

3/10 In unlinited, compleatly outclassed by base blastoise.
over 9000/10 in ex on. As it is the card that makes the "b" in LBS, the deck that does 200 every turn. Now with lugia legend.

I completely agree with Victory's above post. BLS was awesome. I still remember losing to it in Worlds '06 when I was a wee Junior with my Rayquaza ex deck.

Anyway, seeing as it WON that year in Juniors and did very well besides....
9/10 Unlimited (If we forget about base Blastoise) ^^

Wow... ex? Whatever. 150 HP is ok for an ex... I think. A :lightning: weakness is bad, no resistance is bad, and :colorless:colorless:colorless: to retreat is bad. Energy Rain is great, letting you attack two water energies per turn, if you wish. Hyper Whirpool is somewhat overpriced for :water:water:water:colorless: for 80, and possibly discarding energies from the Defending Pokemon.

Unlimited (Base on): 6/10
Unlimited (EX-on): 8/10

Base Blastoise is the reason for Raindance decks... not this card.

however... when i play Raindance... I always run 3 Base Blastoise and 1 Blastoise ex... just because hes such a great attacker

8.5/10

haha I'm getting that card in a couple of days
it's abssolutly amazing minus the whole 2 prizes thing, oh well
9/10

~Happy Birthday to Me!~

Seeing how i asked for this card to be reviewed for my birthday, i will do a review on it.

A lot of people here are saying that Base set blastoise is better, but what people are not reading on this card is that it can attach the energy to ANY Pokemon, whereas Base set blastoise can only attach to water Pokemon.
This was the reason why LBS was so awesome.

Being an EX costing 2 prizes is actually quite the minor flaw. It will rarely be in the active position unless brought there by the opponent, and seeing how LBS's attackers where also EX it is not that big of a deal. This also Ties into the weakness, it is rarely active to take the damage. It merely fuels your Pokemon.

Now, Hyper whirlpool is a nice attack if it is ever stuck being active, and if the Pokemon taking the attack lives, chances are that it will lose some energy to prevent it from attacking blastoise EX.

as for its high retreat cost, you can freely attach energy to blastoise ex, so if you need to retreat you can do so without the wait.

Unlimited 9/10 - My favorite card ever, with some amazing stuff to offer.

There is no doubt that this card is 10/10 in unlimited because it makes unlimited broken. This deck will give enogh damage to all of your opponents pokemon the first turn you can play trainers so the battle is deciced by flip. Blastoise puts the energies down and foretress gives the damage. Espeon picks up energies and pokemon center heals all the damage on yourself

150 HP is good. The Poke-Power is great, but the self-damage is bad. Maybe if Nidoqueen was played with this it would be better...80 for 4 with the possibility of energy removal is good but kind of expensive. Lightning Weakness is bad and a Retreat Cost of 3 is horrible. The 2-prize drawback is also bad.

In today's format: 6/10
In the FRLG format: 9/10

In last worlds there was an Ex-on tournament. I unfortunately got there too late to register, but I was going to run blastoise ex / leafeon lvlx. It worked pretty well when I was running it. Blastoise can rain energies down while leafeon heals them with its body and dawn stadium.

Also ran delcatty / magneton in there (of course, its just like the good old days) Anyways:

Unlimited (1/10) blastoise from base set is better
Ex-on and present (9/10) Until HG/SS feraligatr comes out

lol, this is one of the best cards ever printed, you dont even have to attach it to water pokemon 8/10-9/10

4 prizes if expert belt is attached to it. Expert Belt allows you to grab 2 prizes with a knock out and Ex's allow you to grab 4 prizes when you knock them out. So if Salamence LV. X were to take this card out with an expert belt attached to it using Double Fall before the attack, the Salamence LV. X user would get all 6 prizes in 1 go.

This card is excellent for back in it's day. It's Poke-Power is similar to the original Blastoise. Only difference is putting a damage counter on a Pokemon after you attach an energy to it. So if I were to play this card, I'd fully charge Blastoise and big deal if I put 4 damage counters on it. It's got 150 massive HP. There's still 110 HP left to go after that. And Hyper Whirlpool has not consequences for using it and if you get heads, you discard and energy just like Hyper Beam. Not bad. But that doesn't help much because your opponent can just attach another 1 during his/her next turn.

10/10 for back in it's day
But 0/10 for now because I'd never use it nowadays.

Nope. Sorry.

You get 2 Prizes for knocking out an EX

Expert Belt means 1 more Prize

Salamence LV X's Double Fall allows you to take 1 more Prize

Total Prizes in this incredibly unlikely situation = 4

On topic:

Energy acceleration is brilliant. Unlimited Energy acceleration to any Pokemon is incredibly brilliant.

I dunno how good it would be in Unlimited. Isn't Unlimited just someone winning on their first Trainer turn with Crobat Gs PokeTurns and Scoop Ups?
