Play with fire is not as bad as some of the baby moves...

average stats for a baby, doesn't really serve any purpose however. Art is nice.

Today's CotD is Magby from TM...well to be honest, it's pretty much a waste of paper. Statwise 30 HP is bad for a Basic (even if it's a Baby), though the no Weakness, Resistance, or Retreat Cost is nice. Sweet Sleeping Face as usual is a failed mechanic, Sleep alone is incredibly unreliable and the fact it needs Magby to be Asleep to avoid damage is bad bad bad. Play with Fire is ok that it deals a Burn for no Energy, but then puts Magby to sleep to try and trigger the useless Poke-Body. Add the fact it has no future of at least evolving into a Magmar, it's just overall useless.

Modified - 1/10 (Worthless trash, can't evolve, reliant an a horrible Poke-Body to avoid damage, and attack isn't useful)
Limited - 1/10 (Unless you seriously have no other Basic Pokemon to use, I'd avoid this like the plague)
Unlimited - 1/10 (See Modified review, except multiply it bu 2)

.5/10 ....
Better then not attacking at all but

seriously.why they create such a card can't evolve kinda waste of space

Magby is one of the homage Baby Pokemon that have a Poke-Body that is reminiscent of the old "Baby" rule that protected Pokemon like Magby back in the Neo days. This is also true of its stats: 30 HP, which is as small as I believe any card that is an actual Pokemon (and not a Trainer acting as a Pokemon) has ever had. This makes it entirely dependent on its Sweet Sleeping Face Poke-Body, which prevents all damage from attacks done to Magby while it is Asleep. Its own attack, Playing with Fire automatically inflict Burn on the Defending Pokemon and Sleep on Magby for no Energy. Unfortunately you can still wake up right away and then Magby is basically a Prize waiting to be claimed.

It lacks any Weakness, which is perfect, as is the no Energy Retreat Cost. The lack of Resistance is even tolerable: fits the flavor of a "simpler" Pokemon. This isn't enough to make it good, though.

Magby lacks any text allowing it to evolve. Original "Baby" Pokemon had rules text. Later versions had a Poke-Power. When we first saw Magby (and similar Basic Pokemon that could evolve in the video games, but in the TCG their next Stage was also a Basic) I assumed they'd be releasing something to allow them to Evolve, possibly a Basic that could be played on them as a Stage 1.

Never happened.

In Limited Magby is a risky stall tactic. Half the time it'll wake-up and get itself KO'd. The other half it won't.

There is almost no reason to use this card, I am afraid. That really is disappointing. It can't even be used in a classic "Baby Porter" deck unless I missed the Pokemon with an attack/Pokemon Power that let them both switch with a Benched Pokemon while simultaneously putting the new Active to Sleep.
