Not great.
Tried it, didn't like it, the regular Amphy from HGSS is by far, MUCH better.
Unless you want to run 4 of these, but that would be incredibly slow, the one from SW is so much better.

3/10

This guy can kind of hurt Rain Dance decks if PL isn't out. 7 Water, 7 damage counters. Unless
Dawn Stadium is out.

Overall, he has potential, but could have had a better tails effect for Lightning Crush, like Paralyze
or 10 to 2 Bench. Idk.

6.5/10

And today, the first Pokemon Prime for the CotD posts is posted.

Conductivity isn't that bad of a poke-body. It's virtually like Electivire Lv.X MT, but the difference is, it can be used on the bench. Basically, the body is rather simple. Whenver your opponent attaches an energy card from his or her hand to one of his or her Pokemon, put 1 damage counter on that Pokemon. You can put Garchomp SV here in this situation as, if Garchomp gets hit, you can return an energy card attached to the attacking Pokemon. Thus, by choosing an energy card to go back to your opponent's hand, and then by having Ampharos Prime in play, you put the opponent in a predicament whether or not they should attach the energy again. Indeed, this isn't that bad of a combo that's for sure. Its attack Lightning Crush for 3 energies (2 if there's DCE on it, which Ampharos is one of the cards that likes DCE) can do 40. Then you flip a coin, if heads, you do 80. If tails, you discard an energy attached to the defending Pokemon. For once, both effects are good, but still, if only there wasn't the flip.

As for the HP, 140 HP is great for a stage 2. The weakness is just bad sadly with Donphan Prime and Machamp dominating, the resistance is OK because of Dialga, and the retreat cost could've been better.

Overall 5/10 in modified

This card is fairly decent overall, especially when playing with Garchomp SV. The big problem with it is that Donphan may become big at around states-regionals, and so, Ampharos Prime will really be taken down by Donphan. Plus, Luxray GL is currently a way better :lightning: type Pokemon, so Ampharos Prime, at this rate, may not really claim fame in states-regionals.

I just pulled this out yesterday from my free pack. -.-
Well, this card is okay in my opinion. Seems like the card that's not bad, but not great. Poke-Body is very cool. Attacks are okay. Bad weakness.

This card deserves a 7.5/10

too little damage too much time
with a bad flip you have to 2hko machop who will do 80 to you while you do that and 2hko you if belted
good hp/ bad weakness cause last week every other player had donphan
3/10

Aw, man. If only Dialga G LV.X weren't alive...anyhow, the Body is great. You're gonna have to stack though, which may be a problem. You're relying on BTS, Rare Candy, and lots of Supporters and drawing power to get set up, which can be stopped by Spiritomb from Arceus. The HP isn't bad, but the Weakness stinks. The Retreat Cost is eh, Resistance is OK, and the attack isn't special.

5/10.

Why do they always do this with Ampharos attacks?

You can bet that when you face a Gyarados you will be flipping tails and discarding non-existent Energy.

When you face a Gardy, you will almost certainly flip heads, miss out on discarding the DCE, and get Psychic Locked again.

Yeah, it has a nice little techy Pokebody. So what? Nearly all the Ampharos have nice little techy Pokebodies.

Blah.

5/10

I like it, the attack works quite well with the pokebody, if you flip tails. In essence, you stall them and do 50 damage if you flip tails. Not quite good enough. Very techy pokebody, but I can't justify it being stage two enough to put it into any deck not based around Amphy.
HGSS Format - 7/10
PPT-HGSS - 4/10

Conductivity is decent, but it doesn't get annoying until it starts stacking. And getting out multiple Ampharoses out could be a bit tricky. I don't think Lightning Crush is that great of an attack. 3 Energies for a 50% chance of doing 80 is too risky, and the other effect can be prevented by Unown G. I just don't see this card working as a good attacker. Fighting Weakness is bad, Metal Resistance can be useful in some situations, and a Retreat Cost of 2 is bad but not horrible. 6/10

Amphy+Garchomp SV is a HILARIOUS deck to play. I've tried it, and it's funny to see if your opponent thinks it's worth hitting you. Due to Dialga G I don't see it going to states, though.

9/10 fun, 4/10 competitive.

Once again, I find the poll options odd...what power did Amphy regain, considering it sucked as a deck in the first place? Don't pretend you don't remember that horrible Amphy/Manetric hype...

Anyways, today's CotD is Ampharos Prime, certainly not a bad card, but then again it's not the best of them either. Statwise, 140 HP is very nice for a Stage 2 (10 more than usual), x2 Weakness to :fighting: is icky, -20 Resistance to :metal: is better than nothing, and :colorless::colorless: to Retreat is modest. Conductivity is a nice, passive Poke-Body, letting you put a damage counter on your opponent's Pokemon that your opponent attaches Energy to. Just remember to point out it to your opponent, or they're liable to "forget." Lightning Crush is a bit pricey at :lightning::colorless::colorless: for 40, then a coin flip for either 40 more damage or discarding an Energy off the Defending Pokemon.

Overall, Ampharos I think is beginning to suffer from the "Magnezone" syndrome; there's so many of the dang things, it's hard to figure out which 4 to use. Granted, Magnezone could actually work as a deck as you could choose an optimal 2 (with the DP and the Lv X ones) to achieve some form of synergy, but all that the Ampharos offer as different Poke-Powers/Bodies that don't necessarily work as well together. Not to mention that all the Ampharos still lack a truly powerful attack to use...

Modified - 6/10 (Certainly worth a slot in a deck with Ampharos, but that's about it)
Limited - 6/10 (Getting him out is the hard part, but free damage is nice, and you'll have time to power up Lightning Crush)
Unlimited - 1/10 (No use here)

7/10
Great power without Dialga DCA allows it to attack Quickly and if you keep getting tails and discarding their energy they run out+have to keep attaching more.

I like regular Gyarados HGSS better. Atomatic discard and 80 damage at the cost of one more energy is not bad. It also has 130 HP and is only a stage 1. When energy becomes hard to attach you can use Gyarados SF for a quick revenge kill.
6/10 Amphy still has horrible matchups.

this would be good if you had two or three of these in a deck and it would be good if you could run it with electrovire x you can see what would happen right.

no blissy is the worst prime. its just a base set pokemon center.
Anyways, i like that card, and i have a friend that uses it at league, and actually does very well with it. Also i have to say that Ampharos is one of my favorite pokemon. 7/10

i made a deck out of this and it almost works. it gets destroid by dialga, b/c it is ALL bodies. its good for looking at, though XD
8/10
