2010-2-23 Arcanine GS 1/123

First!... I think.

More HP than the other Arcanines, I believe. 2 for 50 is good on a Stage 1. Fire Mane is basically a ramped up Arcanine SV's Combustion.

But that's all it can do, really... At least the RR Arcanine can survive a hit from Kingdra and Gyarados with it's body (barring Crobat G and Expert Belt) with its body. This one can't.

7/10

Second is still good, I guess...

In a rogue deck all of its own, this Arcanine is wonderful! Have Growlithe use Stoke and evolve next turn to hit for an upwards of 70 (with Expert Belt); or, you could even attach a DCE and hit for up to 110. Personally, I think that's pretty good, but what do I know?

8/10

Woohoo! I love this card! I pulled it at my prerelease... and instantly traded it for a Feraligatr prime. Not the best card ever, 50 for 2 is OK I guess, but its not going to be a game winner ever. 6/10

OMG That Artwork Pwns: 10/10

Otherwise, 50 for 2 is OK, and can do 110 turn 2 with stoke, attach a fire and a DCE wqith Expert Belt.

Remember kids, EVERYTHING (almost) can abuse Expert Belt and DCE.
So how about we just ignore those 2 factors.....

2/10

Another bad Arcanine....

Better than the SV one.
Not like that says much, tho. 110 HP for a Stage 1 is ok, 50 for two is kinda bad(not superbad), 90 for four is bad(more like superbad, but still not quite), and a retreat cost of 2 can be lived with. A water weakness isn't the worst you could have, at least for now.
2/10

lol this card............ why can we never get a truly awesome looking card that doesn't suck?
if you really want an Arcanine to play dce with, Arcanine G is the way to go
too much energy cost for not enough damage, 3/10 (and that's with the cool artwork added in)

I think that the attack costs are too high to do enough damage. 110 HP is decent for a Stage 2, Water Weakness is bad, and a Retreat Cost of 2 isn't too bad, but isn't good either. Arcanine SV still beats this Arcanine in hilariousity...
3/10

Wow, what a coincidence! I played this card at prerelease, and that means on such an occasion, usually I rate in all categories (modifed, limited, and unlimited) only on Trainers/Supporters/or Stadiums, but because this was a Pokemon card I played in Prerelease, on today's CotD post, this Pokemon card will be an exception in which I rate it in all 3 categories.

So Arcanine is sadly a rather dissapointing card. The reason being is that it can't do much. It has 110 HP, which is great for a stage 1, but this card really can't shine right now. For 2 energies though, it can do 50, which is decent, but its second attack is really where things become outrageous. For 4 energies, it does 90. It could've used a little less energy, but however, the main advantage of Arcanine is that it can perfectly utilize DCE. If you put a DCE on Arcanine, you can do 90 for 3 energies rather than 4. Of course as for the 90 damage deal, I think it's fine, since it's close to 100 damage. The weakness isn't the best with Palkia and Kingdra running around, as well as Feraligatr Prime, which currently is becoming pretty popular, and the retreat cost is pretty dissapointing too, despite not being that heavy.

Overall 4/10 in modifed, 8/10 in limited, and 1/10 in unlimited

In modifed, this Arcanine is sadly the second worst of all the Arcanines, the worst actually being the one from SV, and the ones from RR and SW are better than it too. So really, this card really has no potential in the current format other than taking down Dialga G. The reason why it is 4/10 however is that it can take perfect advantage of DCE, and the attacks are simple and have no negatives, other than relying on DCE.

In limited, this is where we really see the card's potential. Because their are lots of :grass: Pokemon in GS, then Arcanine can really be good,n especially with DCE being in GS, in which DCE gives it speed. Trust me, in prerelease, this Arcanine helped me win a match because one of the decks I faced was a deck using :grass:, and it really was taken down by mainly Arcanine. Thus, if you go to a prerelease or draft and pull this card (as well as a Growlithe), then I would definetly recommend playing it, and don't forget to play DCE too.

In unlimited, Arcanine has no uses whatsoever.

its second attack can do a lot of damage and sharp fang makes it a quick card to use not a bad card but you would see people useing this in there deck.

Everyone, say, "Fail." When did Arcanine become a CHINESE Pokemon? o_O This is better than the SV one, (thank the heavens above), but still stinks. You do 90 for four Energy, and 110 with DCE. Yay...not. Very basic card.

2/10.

This card really doesn't have the a lot going for it, it only has two simple, plain attacks. The first attack isnt bad actually hitting for 50 with 2 energy is nice. But that's about it. His second attack is a bit to pricey for 4 energy, but this card can do alout of damage and be affective if you can pull of his second attack

Overall 7\10

There's nothing special about this arcanine but it is utterly beastly in limited (if I see it in a sealed or draft I'm going to try to use it as it's a house) Outside of limited it's another bad rare with bad attacks and bad retreat.

Limited formats 8/10
Constructed 2/10

Overall 5/10

Shame this little puppy didn't come out in like the Base Set...

Anyways, yesterday's CotD was Arcanine from GS, again, making you wonder why waste the holo foil on it. Statwise, 110 HP is very nice for a Stage 1 actually, x2 Weakness to :water: is unfavorable, no Resistance is common, and :colorless::colorless: to Retreat is a bit pricey. Sharp Fang deals a decent 50 for :fire::colorless:, but Fire Mane is overpriced at :fire::colorless::colorless::colorless: for 90. Pretty much like vanilla, this card is just plain all around...

Modified - 2/10 (No real reason to use him, unless you really like Arcanine)
Limited - 9/10 (A beast here with excellent HP and a great cheap attack to use until you can build up the other)
Unlimited - 1/10 (No use here)
