It's good' but it takes too much set up ina format with speed and disruption. Also, Blazeray and Dialga all hurt it.
7/10 for now.

It's meh. No real good support. And anything Fire hurts it really bad.

5/10. Just average.

Where is ShadowGuard - I know he smells this thread.

To the above:

- Metapod HGSS (removes weakness)
- Sceptile GE (doubles grass energy per grass energy card)
- Sunflora HGSS/Beedrill RR (search for grass pokemon)
- Sceptile SF/Meganium Prime HGSS (move around grass energy)
- Shaymin Lv.X Land Forme (+ 40 HP)
- Leafeon Lv.X MD (attach extra energy per turn)

Yeah, no grass support in this format...

Anyway, first attack is pretty boss with Sceptile GE. Second attack is kind of meh. Green Breath makes this extremely tankable.

8.5/10 if you have a good list
7/10 if you don't

And now we go back to the cards that are decent.

Sceptile's 120 HP is OK for a stage 2. Fire weakness hurts, water resistance is OK, but the retreat cost could've been better.

Sceptile PA is virtually like Magmortar SW for several reasons. For one, it shares a similar poke-body, which, whenever you attach a :grass: energy from your hand to him, you remove two damage counters. The attack Leaf Blast is virtually just like Magmortar SW's attack too, where it does 20 times the number of :grass: energies attached to it. This attack can actually have lots of potential, where you should obviously combo it with Sceptile GE so that you can do massive damage. His second attack, Poison Claws is OK for it can auto-poison.

Overall 6/10 in modified

This is a fairly good Sceptile I have to admit. He can be comboed with so many like Sceptile GE, Shaymin, or even Metaped though the best is Sceptile GE, where it makes all grass energies double grass, and thus allowing you to hit for a on. The problem with Sceptile PA is that he is really crushed by many SP matchups, from Blazeray to Dialga/Garchomp, where both can really scare him.

If you want to play a Sceptile deck, this is a necessary card.

I played this deck a couple of weeks ago, and I had no problems getting in the top cut matches at my local tournament.

120 is decent for all stage 2 cards, weakness is alright, resistance is good, the retreat is fine with Sceptile GE in your deck. Poke'body "Green Breath" helps him last a little longer just like Magmortar SW. His first attack is what makes him amazing, Leaf blast + Wild Growth from Sceptile GE= 3 energies for 120 (140 with Expert Belt) is monstrous. 2nd attack I really see no use in other than trying to play safe against Gengar.

All around a solid Stage 2

Rating: 8.5/10

If you want to run a Sceptile deck you MUST run Tropius PL in this deck. Must. "Blessed Fruit" ftw.

This cards best friend is GE Sceptile. Just 1 :grass: energy attached to it would already be dealing 40 damage since Wild Growth doubles up all the :grass: energies.

Green Breath is a great Poke-Body, removing 2 damage counters whenever you attach an energy from your hand to Sceptile. It's other best friend is Leafeon LV. X. Energy Forcing can allow you to add a 2nd energy from you hand so you can remove 40 damage counters from Sceptile. 120 HP is great. Even better with Expert Belt to give it 140 HP. +30 weakness to :fire: hurts. -20 resistance to water is great. Retreat Cost isn't too bad. Only 2. Poison Claws is quite expensive 4 for 60 and Poison. But GE Sceptile can allow this Sceptile to attack with it for only 2 energies. Expert Belt can raise Poison Claws to 80.

Overall, a pretty good card. 9/10

I have this in my deck this card and it hase done me some real good there was times where i did a constant 120 damage and when i would attach a energy card it heals two so this is a good card and you can run this with the great encounters sceptile.

This card is amazing when combined with other cards. Since it is a Sceptile, it is almost a destiny that it be paired with its brother, Sceptile GE. When combined, each of the AR Sceptile's Grass energies are doubled allowing Sceptile AR to strike the opponent for 40 damage per grass energy card. 120 damage for 3 energy is just awesome (but only 60 w/o the energy boost).

It heals itself with each grass energy card attached as well, so add something like Dawn Stadium and three damage counters are removed instead; this is a fourth of AR Sceptile's HP restored for each grass energy attached! Nidoqueen RR and Tangrowth Lv. X are possible techs towards this card's healing benefits. Expert Belt + Shaymin Lv. X adds 60 HP and 20 damage. I built a deck around this concept and won second in my local Cities.

The only bad things I see about the card is the second attack is often overshadowed in preference for its first attack, retreat cost is 2 (1 w/ Sceptile GE), and HP is low compared to most Stage 2 pokemon. Weakness really hurts with the current meta, but at least there are ways to deal with it (Metapod HGSS, Exploud SV, Bubble Coat).

Modified: 8/10
(an absolute must though in a 'DP-on format' Sceptile deck)
Limited: 6/10 (Tangrowth Lv. X is from the same set.)

With the booming of Dialga G LV.X and Unown G GE, Sceptile doesn't have room in the format. Fire Pokemon are about to burst at the seams of usability, due to Ninetales HGSS and Typhlosion HGSS. Sceptile will be scorched.

2/10.

This works quite nicely with the GE Sceptile. And with all the support Grass Pokemon get, this could possibly be a halfway decent deck. 120 HP is decent, Fire Weakness is bad, Water Resistance is useful, a Retreat Cost of 2 isn't too bad. The Poke-Body works well with Dawn Stadium. Drop an Energy on it, heal 30 and all Special Conditions. Leaf Blast is a pretty good attack, dealing 80 for 2 if you have Sceptile GE in play. Poison Claws is not a good attack, as the poison will most likely be prevented by Unown G and you can do more damage with Leaf Blast anyways. 6/10

SS Butterfree > Tangrowth LV. X Remove 3 damage counters from all your Pokemon > Flip for a chance to remove 4 damage counters from 1 of your Pokemon.

Using a Power every turn, even if you have to flip >>> wasting an attack just to heal.

Not that I think Tangrowth X is any good either.

Sceptile, on the other hand is decent, and Grass does have a lot of support, probably more than any other type. Unfortunately for Grass decks, benched support = easy Prizes a lot of the time.

Beedrill and Jumpluff are better, but this is on the borderline of playable.

Healing your Pokemon with 100% chance > 50/50 chance. Healing ALL Pokemon > Healing just 1 with a 50/50 chance. I'd rather save my Pokemon from getting knocked out with a move than hope that I can save my Pokemon from being knocked out. Tangrowth LV. X is garbage. I only have it for collection purposes. Tangrowth didn't even need a LV. X. Tangrowth is good enough without one. They totally wasted a spot on it when they coulda put in a better card to be a LV. X. For example: Dragonite. Hopefully they'll do the right thing and give Dragonite a Prime and hopefully it's not too slow.

Tangrowth still isn't any good with the level X. It never wins any tournaments unless you have a good meta with no SP decks. Why would you waste energies to retreat and attack with butterfree. How are you supposed to get 3 stage 2 cards in play anyway. If you want to heal use Tropius(from the newer sets).

SS Butterfree only requires 1 energy. And I don't play :grass: decks anyway so it doesn't matter. But I'm thinking of making a new Leafeon LV. X deck sometime soon. 110 HP + expert belt = 130 HP plus Shaymin Ground Forme LV. X = 170 HP plus Espeon = 210 HP. And the increment of damage from the number of energies attacked to all my Pokemon. GE Sceptile is a great choice too to increase the attack power like mad. Energy per turn + Energy Forcing + Plus Energy from Leafeon RR + GE Sceptile's Wild Growth p-body = 6 energies attached by the time it's your opponent's turn.

His :pbody: is Very cool because you ideally want to get as many energy on him as possible.

His leaf Blast attack is what makes this card shine, your perfect set up would be having him and the sceptile from GE This would make all the energy that count as 1, 2 making it hit for alout of damage, also if you attach expert belt it would do even more damage

His second attack is only good if you have GE sceptile in play, 4 for 60 is to expensive, but with GE sceptile he can do 2 for 60, (80 with expert belt) and poison

Nice card I'll give it a 8\10

Weird, didn't see this up yesterday...

Statwise, 120 HP is 10 below the common 130 for a Stage 2, +30 Weakness to :fire: hurts, -20 Resistance to :water: is nice, and :colorless::colorless: to Retreat is a bit expensive. Green Breath is a nice form of self-healing in a Poke-Body, getting the equivalent of a Potion when you attach a :grass: Energy from your hand to Sceptile. Leaf Blast has potential, dealing a solid 20x the number of :grass: Energy on Sceptile for :grass:. Poison Claws is definitely overpriced at :grass::colorless::colorless::colorless: for just a weak 60 and Poison, even if you consider DCE. Anyways Sceptile AR probably isn't going to find a home in the new format, mainly because he'll likely be without his better half, Sceptile GE (even with the return of DCE). -20 Resistance to :water: and the :grass: typing helps against Feraligatr yes, but even then this guy is pretty slow, needing what, 4 :grass: Energy to OHKO Gatr.

Modified - 4/10 (It's kinda fun now with the GE one still running about, but that'll likely end come the next rotation)
Limited - 4/10 (Hard to get out, but the self heal is nice, and big damage from Leaf Blast. If you're using :grass: and have the line, may as well use him)
Unlimited - 1/10 (No use here)
