yeh again

yeh again people ill say it the cards here arent worth playing or trying to play just not enough dmg and manipulation of your oponents so 2/20

I could see a deck based around this card winning a league game.

It's not a horrible card, just not as good as many other cards in the format.

3/10

Ampharos is my favorite pokemon, but this just puts it to shame. 2/10 for the card, 9/10 for the atrwork

5/10

Only for the first attack though. Any attack that helps set up other pokemon, while still doing damage, is good in my book. I've never thought 30-50 for 1 was bad (all you Expert Belt users). The second attack is a nice 80-100 (expert belt) for 3, but the possibility of damaging yourself makes it not really worth it. Much better to use the first attack for some cheap damgage, while powering up your bench-hitters.

Weakness is what it is, Actual Resistance to something is handy, and retreat of 1 is sweet for stage, non-Jumpluff, 2's.

sorry to tell all ampharos lovers, but raichu MT does the same thing, its a stage one and its a free attacker (although ampharous does 30 damage)

2/10 just because it can charge any type

You guys are all lame. I see potential in this card. 30 plus energy acceleration is nice. Expert Belt for 50 and energy acceleration. MT Raichu's Electromagnetic Induction doesn't compare to Acceleration Bolt. Wow you get to charge your Pokemon up with 2 energies for free. Wow! But in the process you deal no damage. I'd rather deal 30 or 50 damage in the process like this card does. You don't make a deck based off of this Ampharos. Team it up with Ampharos Prime geniuses. 120 HP is excellent. 140 with expert belt. 1 for 30 and energy acceleration and 2 for 80 or 100 with expert belt because people are obviously gonna attach a DCE to this card. 20 to itself isn't a big deal if you have Nidoqueen in play. -20 to Metal is great against Dialga G. And 1 retreat is fantastic.

It doesn't deserve any lower than a 10/10.

Uh...a Naked Mole Rat? Ok, that's almost too random...

Today's CotD is Ampharos from GS (not the Prime one mind you), an ok enough card. Statwise, 120 HP is meh for a Stage 2 (10 less than common), x2 Weakness to :fighting: sucks, -20 Resistance to :metal: is...well, better than nothing, and :colorless: to Retreat is cheap. Acceleration Bolt is very nice for just :lightning:, dealing a solid 30 and letting you get out 2 Basic Energy from your deck and attach them to one of your Pokemon. Just a shame Ampharos is a Stage 2, otherwise this would really be fun to spam early on... Thunder is ok at :lightning::colorless::colorless: for 80, but the 50/50 chance to deal 20 to yourself isn't that hot. Overall, it's a solid Ampharos card I feel, but most people are probably going to opt for an Ampharos Prime and then fill their deck with the other Ampharos that offer Poke-Powers and such.

Modified - 6/10 (It's ok, but the fact almost every other Ampharos offers some sort of Poke-Power makes this a step behind)
Limited - 8/10 (Great card here (especially with the Energy acceleration attack), and Thunder hits for nice damage)
Unlimited - 1/10 (No use here)

Hmmm, now we get to more interesting Pokemon!

120 HP is OK for a stage 2. The weakness is not the best with all the Donphans and Machamps out there, but the resistance is OK, and the retreat cost is OK too.

Well, this card is indeed quite interesting. The one thing I like about it is that it can charge up energies to your Pokemon. Grabbing two basic energies from your deck and attaching them to one of your Pokemon is quite nice, and the fact this can be done for a single energy is really not too shabby. The second attack is also not too shabby. 80 for three may not be the best, but with DCE it is fine. The flip is risky though. If you get tails, Ampharos does 20 to itself, which is a bit hurtful. Still, there's about a 50% chance of happening though.

Overall 5/10 in modified

This card is indeed decent and interesting. Ampharos knows how to bring energies to your Pokemon. This can Ampharos indeed fit in an Ampharos deck like Amphytrick perfectly. Right now of course, Donphan and Machamp are dominatting, and other cards are countering lots of Ampharos so you can't really see this card a lot in competitive play.

Ampharos! Cute art indeed.
Pros: Decent HP, relatively cheap Retreat Cost, Resistant to Metal. Acceleration Bolt is great, imo. You get to search your deck for energy, attach it to anyone, and deal some damage, with only one energy! It can help power up your pokes really fast.
Cons: It's Stage 2, so it can take too long to set up.. especially if you're planning on only using it as support to get energy for your main attackers. Thunder.. Well, 80 damage for 3 energy is GOOD, but the 50% chance of recoil makes me want to shy away from it. It's an offset to its decent HP. And x2 Weakness to Fighting is dangerous. Not sure if this one is worth using over the other Amphys out there. Maybe if used alongside the others?

6/10

1st attack: Pretty good, wish it would do more damage
2nd attack: Stupid :p
Overall, this card is average, but the other Amphys are far better than this one

5/10

I like this card for Acceleration Bolt, which is very helpful if you're running a lot of Basic Energy. I like how the attack does some damage too, but is it feasible/reasonable to get a Turn 1 or 2 Ampharos to charge up one of your other Pokemon? If you can do this, it could give you a big advantage.

I wouldn't use Thunder on this Pokemon, but would only use it for Acceleration Bolt.

Why wouldn't you use Thunder? If you're running Nidoqueen in the deck, you don't need to worry about the self damage Ampharos does to itself. Think about it. 2 for 100 with expert belt and you're using a double colourless energy.

This card is a lot better than most people here are giving it credit for, but it won't really shine until the Legendary pokemon are released in the next set.

5/10 now
8/10 next set

I guess the first attack isn't really terrible, but I'm not seeing much of a use for it in the current format.

Modified: 2/5.

It doesn't deserve any lower than 10/10?

Ok, so this is on par with Luxray GL Lv.X.

One difference. . .

I don't see Ampharos even top cutting.

Donphan one shots you.

But yeah, one of the best cards in format. . .

8/10
Good HP Good Attack, With a Good Deck i Can see it Doing Somewhat Decently in a Tournament, maybe not Win but decently. With Expert it can Pack a Punch and with Maybe Plusle or Even Vire it can be Decently Solid COmbination
