2010-5-20 Steelix Prime UL 87/95

He can abuse speacial metal energies I guess...I dont see hope for him right now, but if somehow he does become used, it will only call out some Blazerays or Blazechomps.

Today's format: 3/10(Stage 1 with 140 hp??? why not give it a 3)
Future format ?/10(who knows)

I think Steelix will see much more play then people think. Special metals are still pretty cool, even if Dialga does do it better. Still, there's something to be said a card that grabs them from the discard. I'm sure someone will make something out of it.

8/10 Modified.

Steelix Prime Secret Deck for the win!!
Use Interviewers Question to get the DCE and Special Metal in your hand by using Sableye. Next turn Felicities the Special Metal into your discard, attach the DCE and belt, evolve, warp point, hit for 50, and in two more turns hit for 120 and tank with 160 HP and -40!

Wait... I wasn't supposed to say that out loud. Darn.

Anyways this card may see some future potential depending on what the switch is.
As for now I give it a 5/10.

Today's CotD is Steelix Prime from UL...eh, while not a bad card, it's not super great either. Statwise, 140 HP is excellent for a Stage 1 (a whooping 50 more than the average 90), x2 Weakness to :fire: is manageable, -20 Resistance to :psychic: is nice, and :colorless::colorless::colorless::colorless: to Retreat...well, that's pretty dang pricey. Perfect Metal is a useful enough Poke-Body, preventing any random Special Conditions that may be floating about from affecting Steelix Prime. So, what's not to like with all these benefits? The very expensive attack costs; Energy Stream is overpriced at :colorless::colorless: for 30 and grabbing an Energy from your discard to attach to Steelix, and Gaia Crush is just flat-out expensive at :metal::metal::colorless::colorless::colorless: for 100 and the option to discard any Stadium in play. Even DCE won't make this much faster...

Modified - 4/10 (Expensive, unpractical energy costs and damage ratio ultimately weigh it down)
Limited - 8/10 (Easier to get out than Stage 2s, and has even more HP than most of them to boot. A great wall at the least to hide behind)
Unlimited - 1/10 (Not much use here...)

5th aint bad. I see ppl using this to counter stuff like skunktank g or crobat prime just to make it mad

6/10 because i like the artwork

Time to look at yet another Prime from Unleashed, Steelix Prime.

140 HP is very good for a stage 1. Fire weakness kind of hurts, the resistance is OK, and the retreat costis is really heavy.

Steelix has one good Poke-body all right. Steelix can't be affected by any kind of special conditions. This can be quite handy as you don't need to worry about conditions like the paralyzing and poisoning of Gliscor, or the burning of Blaziken FB. It first attack does 30 and lets you grab a energy card from the discard pile and then onto Steelix. To take full use of this attack, use cards like Felicity's or Volkner's to put some energy to the discard and then take it out as energy for Steelix. The second attack is sadly very expensive. Yet, at the same time, it does 100 and has no down sides whatsoever. It can even take a stadium too. Thus, the major downside of this attack is the energy cost, but you can make this up with DCE and its first attack.

Overall 4/10 in modified

Well, this card is actually quite decent that's for sure. He has a great Poke-body and some nice attacks. Unfortunately, this card isn't that good now because it is quite slow compared to other metagame deck right now. Thus, Steelix will most likely be better next year when most of the those speedy cards are rotated.

This card will be a game-changer. Excellent HP, NRG abuse, Stadium discard, no conditions, etc. His resistance will further tank against PLOX and Cursegar. I would be very surprised if this didn't win a few BRs.

9/10

Hey you guys arent nice to steelix prime well i like it its great with wiggly tuff and skuntank and it hase great hp for a first stage evolvemnt its great with expert belt and engeniers adustment and felcitys drawing and special metteal energy.

Well i has a 140 HP:eek:! It has HUGE energy cost and retreat. So pairing it with something like ampharos gs can help with energy accel.Wigglytuff can put them to sleep while not affecting steelix. Also stuntank G. Special steels can let this card attack longer after all the trouble you go through powering up.

Limited 7/10 well it has 140 HP on a stage 1 Why not?
Modified 3/10 the attack cost is to heavy and may be knocked out because you cant do huge damage to them.

ill give this card a chance because all the other Steelix cards are all flippy but if you can get energys on him (thats why you want DCE) 4 needed pluse the combo with feraligator and a water pokemon a certain supporter forgot the name of it sadly you can be doing 100 (120 with EB) so you can have him set by turn 3 but with fire as weaknees it can be a prob.

7/10

Steelix prime is one of the most underdog cards of the format. You look at him and probably don't see anything-- a lousy 2 for 30 attack and a giant waste 5 for 100. However, there are several big factors that will help Steelix a ton vs. the main decks of the metagame--

1) Huge HP. 140 is the 2nd highest for any stage 1 card right now (just behind wailord lol), and that's 160 with special steel.

2) Compatibility with special steel. Helps him tank even more.

3) Psychic resistance. Makes him an absolute wall vs. cursegar and GG.

4) Pairing him with healing cards, especially blissey PT. With Blissey, you heal 20 each turn and you can discard energy back from the power to grab back with steelix.

5) No special conditions, meaning you can't get gliscor locked if that's in your area.

6) Discarding stadiums is a little plus, but it's great vs. jumpluff or gyarados, decks that need the bts in play.

7) Steelix also has great recovery, since all you need is a double colorless on a steelix to start grabbing any special steels you've lost back from the discard pile.

Steelix is a turn 3 deck, and it will probably lose to anything fire, but then again, who plays fire anymore? In testing I've found him to beat most SP and Jumpluff if he doesn't get t1'd. You guys might not believe me, but you really have to have a solid list and test it to believe me. I'll give Steelix Prime an 8.5/10

I think it could work well with Blissey and Exploud. You'll lose a turn of attacking, but it is worth it to then be able to charge up again off the bat. The immunity to Special Conditions is very impressive as well, and I think this card could see some play.

steelix prime...not my card. its very mixed up. it involves energies, special conditions, and stadiums. way to mixed up. but it has some potential. 4/10
