Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

2010 Washington State Championship

My first WA states tournament. Went 6-1 in swiss. Won top 16 vs. GG, top 8 vs gigas, lost in top 4 to Andrew with Luxchomp 2-1. I was playing SV garchomp/Machamp. Ended up taking 3rd. My son Drue ended up taking 4th with luxchomp. 2 pieces of glass for our home and 4 for our lovely town of Bremerton!! Amazing day, tons of fun, and lots of great great people. My most memorable match was round 1 in swiss with Kenny Sr. from Oregon! Not only did he spinning attack me for 100, but he is all around a pretty amazing person :)
Thanks again everyone and will see you all at regionals!
Corey T.

Congrats on 3rd Corey thats awsome, I have never done any better then T8 at states. Good luck at regionals where I am sure to loose to you for the 4th time. This year all our games have ended on time with you up by one prize :)

It has been crazy that we get paired together EVERY tournament. I think the problem I face, as a lot of people would with your deck is that its not the typical hit and KO deck. It seems to be going just fine and then about midway to 3/4 of the way through I have realized just how much trouble I was in. Then its an all out chess match to try to figure out a way through the deficit that I am now in. Great games every single time!
Also congratulations to you on building and playing a deck that nobody else is playing. I like those WAY more than the standard decks in the format! :) I tried to get that deck to work so many times and had zero luck doing so...just could not get it going fast enough.
Good luck at regionals and thank you for the congrats!
Corey

Upload note: Masters Division was uploaded today, so you should see your updated points tomorrow. I am having upload problems with Juniors and Seniors that can't be resolved with out help of the staff at TCPi, so no ratings updates until Monday at the earliest.

And does anyone know what league Kimi goes to?

I want to thank all the great players that showed up to play at Wash States......I really want to thank Team Lakewood, Team Spokane and Team Wenatchee. I really want to thanks for all those that attended...

Thanks for making this one of the best tournaments overall....:confused::thumb::eek::lol:

Team Spokane and I were very happy to come out to try our best at State and to know that even though we didn't place top 16 we were able to keep up with level of play in the state

Besides Rhyperior did better then i thought and to the person who also played a Rhyperior deck i wish for you to send me a PM i want to give you a hand

GO SPOKANE!!!!

I'm also with Team Spokane; I'm very proud of my group's performance despite the strange 3-4 record we all got. I had a lot of fun and would love to come back next year if I can afford it. I personally played a Garchomp/Raichu/Electivire rogue and somehow made it at the top tables around round 3.

I had an intense fight there at round 3 and lost to a blissey deck 2-1 when time was called. I also faced a high-performing Mamo deck played by a well-known top player. All of my opponents were pretty nice and played very well, which made this States a great first-time experience for me.

I also participated in the DS side event and took 4th with a 3-1 record. With only 12 people, the tournament left much to be desired, but at least there was one.

My only real complaint was the attitude of one of the staff members; my friend had an issue with a glitch that occurred in the system near the first round and the lady whom we spoke with seemed to be on the verge of flipping out anytime one of us spoke to her. Being up there organizing pairings is probably pretty stressful, but yeah, it shouldn't be a nerve breaking point.

David was just awesome at hosting the tournaments this year. He even took some time away from the podium to show me where one of my DS opponents was. Seriously, one of the best! :thumb:

Dude, there were like two other people besides you running Rhyperior.

Man, you two blew my post out of the water. I guess I just don't write that much. Anyways, The only real problem I had on saturday wasn't even related to the tournament. Other than that I just made some obvious mistakes.

Really though, I had so much fun, except for round two. That's where said mistakes came in to play. I will definitely try to come out next year. Hopefully by that time Team Spokane will be able to make top cut. :thumb:

Six people, all from the same group, all having the same record? What are the odds? Oh and as Rhyhorn trainer said.

VIVA SPOKANE!!!!!!!!:biggrin::clap::lol:

David, you did a great job with States this year. Location was really comfortable and well chosen, event pacing was spot on, and overall vibe was incredible. Thanks to you and all the staff for the hard work. We had a blast. Grats to Amelia for 1st in Sr's & Team Drue-Corey for taking home a pair of trophies. It was good to see everyone and hang out. Hope to see you all in Oregon in a few weeks.

wus sup had lots of fun i went 3/4 with raichu wasnt to surprised. Freind with gengar went 2/5 very surpising to be losing and freind with abomosnow went 5/2 super surprising it was hella funny seeing a meta deck like gengar do bad and a random deck like abomasnow do good had lots of fun cant wait for next competive play.

woop woop, 7-0 swiss haha, then epic fail in top 16 but whatever :p

good stuff

Join the club its the curse of the first, same thing happened to me in Washington States last year... all yummy AMU decks were our there last year and got stuck with a big plate of T-tar.

I did so badly this year, never thought the bump up to Masters would make such a difference to me. Well, there's still Regionals to look forward to, if I can go that is. Gotta make the best deck ever.

yeah thanks @ the Washington TO's. it was a great day and I love the dice XD being 6-0 with blissey then losing in the last round and ending up in 9th place was kinda saddening tho.. then Soxrcol the one I lost to had to go and epic fail in T16. BTW Sox I lost to ross in T8 lol

I'm curious about who is on Team Wenatchee. Everyone from my dad's side of the family lives there =)

I loved that Blissey made it so far. Only if it got a bit higher. That would be nice to see, after hearing what had happened with how Blissey did, I started considering using it a Regionals... If I could think of how to make it though...

I also forgot to add that I had fun on one part and the other my little brother won the side Video Game tournament. That was a nice day.

All age groups are now uploaded. You can see how your points shift tomorrow, although I did have some player ID issues. Let me know if you played and the tournament doesn't show up in you My Trainer Club account.

Thanks everyone for a great event!

Oh, and the first place trophy count: Washington 3, Canada 2, Oregon 1.

Four washington trophies, Ross won in Iowa. The year Matt Mcpike won in Idaho, we counted it, so we should count this one too. After all instead of McPike's mom, Ross had to take out Jay Hornung, 3rd at worlds, to get his 1st place trophy, that's completely legit.
