He seems like the less useful Sigilyph, lacking reflect and a decent sniping attack. However, I see potential in the future for him, taking down those big HP EXs once your guys go down. Granted this will mostly apply to mewtwo and Gigas, but regardless he is decently useful even now when paired with the reflect sigilyph. 6/10
 
Today's COTD is Sigilyph (Emerging Powers, 42/98). It is a :psychic: type 90HP Basic Pokemon. The Weakness to :lightning: is bad, with Zekrom around, but the :fighting: resistance is useful, as I still see DonChamp around. The Retreat of :colorless: is pretty normal, but nothing special.
Its first attack, Quick Turn, costs :psychic: to use, but the effect isn't worth it (Flip 2 coins. This attack does 10 damage times the number of heads). It could do OK while preparing for the second attack (which really isn't too great either), but the fact that it's energy-specific is lame.
Its second attack, Psychic Assault, costs :colorless::colorless::colorless:, and does 40 damage plus 10 more damage for each damage counter on the Defending Pokemon (Crobat G would have gone great with this). It could combo with Donphan (start with Earthquake, attach DCE & Fighting energy, use Psychic Assault) for some cheap damage, but it would take a bit of time.

Modified: 5/10. There isn't really enough to combo it with right now, and the HP and Weakness hurt.
Limited: 7/10. You can score some cheap damage with this card in Limited.

But seriously, the card just isn't up to standard to compete. Good for a fun deck or for someone starting out, with simple attacks, but that's about it.
 
Today's CotD is Sigilyph from EP...well besides that weird name, nothing else is really notable. Statwise 90 HP is nice for a Basic, x2 Weakness to :lightning: is meh, -20 Resistance to :fighting: can be helpful, and :colorless: to Retreat is cheap. Quick Turn is eh at :psychic: for 10x the number of Heads you get with 2 coins, averages about to 10 usually. Psychic Assault is a bit pricey at :colorless::colorless::colorless: for a base 40, but dealing 10 more for each damage counter on the Defending makes it a bit nicer.

Modified - 1/10 (I don't really see any reason to run him, even as side support to :psychic: decks)
Limited - 8/10 (Now here it's potentially nasty, as Psychic Assault only needs :colorless:, so you can use it in any deck, and it should 2HKO most targets besides the bigger Stage 2s)
Unlimited - 1/10 (No use here, fodder)
 
Best splashable tech for cards that are weak to Psychic (like Gothitelle), and not a bad all-around tech if you play DCE
