[gal=52284]2011-10-08 EP Cubchoo 028[/gal]

I personally prefer this Cubchoo, mainly for the ability to attack with one water or a DCE, if you really want to heal. Plus, this Cubchoo can put the Defending Pokemon to sleep.

This little guy is great. His retreat cost is a pain, but his HP and ability to heal himself can keep him alive a few early game turns while you get a Beartic evolved. His attacks are easy to use for low amounts of energy. Putting your opponent to sleep can also help ensure that you stay kicking. Also, Cubchoo putting itself to sleep isn't a very big problem because you get to flip twice by your next turn to wake up, then if you aren't awake, you should be evolving to Beartic by now anyway if you already had to use Rest, so he'll wake up when he evolves.

Awesome card that outranks most basics that evolve into a stage 1.

I rate it 8/10. Would give higher marks if it was slightly more offensive. Maybe if you didn't have to flip for powder snow, or if it did 20 damage.

Running late, yada yada...

So for the 8th, we have a comparison CotDs of sorts, with Cubchoo from EP as the selected Pokemon. For this variant (28), it offers much more longevity than its counterpart. Statwise 70 HP is nice for a Basic, x2 Weakness to :metal: is good (as not many Pokemon are :metal: to begin with, let alone are played), no Resistance is common, and :colorless::colorless: to Retreat is a bit pricey. Powder Snow deals a basic 10 for :water: and a 50/50 shot to put the Defending to Sleep, not super useful, but it's there and nice when it randomly works. Rest is a powerful self-healing option for :colorless::colorless:, removing 60 damage off Cubchoo and putting it to Sleep, so if you have to start with Cubchoo, you can hopefully last long enough with Rest to evolve into Beartic.

Modified - 6/10 (Beartic is good, so Cubchoo needs to be played)
Limited - 7/10 (Beartic still good here, and if nothing else you can stall for a bit with Rest)
Unlimited - 1/10 (Not much use here, easy KO bait)
