BDIF! 70HP is low for an unevolving basic these days, but Metal type allows him to abuse Sp. Metal in addition to Eviolite to survive a smack (or maybe two!). Bad Weakness for the format, Resistance is nice though. Retreat is average, no biggie. 2nd attack is decent if you want to tech a DCE for a baby donk, but meh. First attack makes the card fun though! Play the deck, mill 4 a turn, and pray they are slow to KO ^_^

Modified 7/10 - Loses to Typhlosion. Resh is no big deal though, either they hit you for between 10 and 40 with outrage (you give them no damage to throw back at you), or they expend more and more resources to OHKO with Blue Flare.
Limited 10/10 - Draft 6 and win?

Durant is probably my favorite card from Noble Victories. I feel it's the most efficient decking mechanic we have seen so far in the game's history.

I've built a Durant deck and have played in for two weeks at Pokemon League. It works great! I've won 75% of the games I've played it in. I've learned a lot about the deck and still very much enjoy playing it.

But, it's sad that the deck can be beat very easily, if you know the tricks to beating it.

1) Don't put out a full bench. Don't even worry about support Pokemon. Just get out one of your main attackers and let that be it. A bigger bench means more Pokemon for Durant to pull up (w/ Catcher) and stall while decking you.
2) Attack, attack, attack. Even if something stupid is pulled up with Catcher, if you got the energy, power it, and attack. Every turn you're not dealing damage to Durants, you're losing 4 cards.
3) Don't rely on DCE, because they can be easily Lost Zone'd.

Really, any deck can beat Durant if they follow these tips.

It's just fun to play an opponent that does their normal routine and you just toss around their field and deck them before they draw their 6th prize.

10/10 for creativity (Japan, we need more cards like these)
6/10 for art
6/10 for playability

I think it may be good with appropiate support cards. If you could get up an archeops really and hinder evolutions fr example. Perhaps tech in donphan against the basic pokemon decks, like zekrom, that would counter a combo like that.

Either way i am intrigued by such a card and hope it will see some play: 7/10

Must...resist...bias.

But although the deck isn't the best deck, it's quite possibly the deck that's most fun to play.
People, this bug..thing, is the wave of the future!

10/10 for being the best at what it does.
8/10 overall though.

This 72.8 pound monster of pure ant metal is by far my favorite pokemon to come out of this set. His strategy is pretty straight forwards, you eat your opponents deck and poop it out in their discard. The subsequent release of Super Rod does hurt Durants effectiveness. You can't really bank crippling your opponent by putting their key evolutions and whatnot into the discard. This Does not mean Durant is without potential. Evolite, special metal energy, revive, catcher, crushing hammer, and lost remover all help Durant slow down your opponent. He may not be the best deck in format now, he is still floating around tier 2 at least, he could very well make an appearance as the dark horse of the format, given the right circumstances.

7.5/10 for playability
10/10 for uniqueness

I seen a person play durrant today it did real well the deck beat some of the people it was going aginst but i did beat his durrant deck. He ran twins N therrory. I give this a 7.5

Weird I don't remember seeing this yesterday...anyways, yesterday's CotD was Durant from NV, an interesting little fellow. Statwise 70 HP is decent for a Basic, x2 Weakness to :fire: is bleh, -20 Resistance to :psychic: is useful, and :colorless: to Retreat is cheap. Devour in particular is what makes Durant interesting; for :metal:, you get to discard a card from the top of your opponent's deck for each Durant you have in play. While that might not seem like much initially, having all 4 possible Durant out makes for 4 cards your opponent loses each turn, not to mention whatever ones they themselves take out on their turn. And considering the ease of getting Durant out, it makes for a fun milling deck. Vice Grip is ignorable for :colorless::colorless: for 30, no point in using it when you want to be milling.

Modified - 6/10 (A fun deck, but ultimately the weakness and lowish HP doom it if you can't mill fast enough)
Limited - 7/10 (Imagine getting 6+ copies of this, fun times later on)
Unlimited - 1/10 (No use here, kinda weak)

Get 3 on the bench, two cards with healing support (like Serperior), add some defense for the Durants with Defenders, Eviolite, special metal energies and optionally some pluspowers and win by discarding important cards from the opponent's deck. It's a bit stretching luck though for example if you were tryng to stop Hydreigon or Kyurem from entering play, there's always a chance that they already have the energies and necessary cards prized or in hand... Team Rocket's Trickery could help out a bit. But anyway on the other hand you could be wrecking their plans very well, getting rid of energies, evolution cards, supporters... they just might end up with a hand full of unsuable cards and have no choice but to watch their decks get eaten alive!

Also, because Devour only needs one energy, Max Potions come in handy, and infuriating if the opponent can only attack with something that can only dish out 10-30 damage.

Not bad, but got a lot of work to do and even then it's not completely reliable.

6/10

I will never understand why people think this deck is 'fun'. Yeah, I know mill is a novelty, but is just doing attach-Devour-revive throughout every single game really all that enjoyable?

Practically anyone (no matter how bad) could beat anyone (no matter how good) with this deck. I'm not sure how much I like having that in the game, but I can't deny that the deck works and can be very effective.

7/10

Oh, it's terribly fun to play.
The entire game is a race.
You try to take 6 prizes before I discard all of your cards.
The strategy comes in trying to keep the opponent from taking one prize per turn.
If you can delay the opponent from taking a prize on 3 or even 2 turns, you have the game.
Resource management is incredibly important in the Durant deck. If you're just doing "attach-Devour-Revive" then you are going to lose the game.
8/10 in my opinion.
Bear in mind that it's an Uncommon, not even a Rare.
One of the best Uncommons ever printed.

One of my personal favorites.

Not only is it fun, and viable in a few aspects, it's also the first Pokemon to make mill a usable alternative in recent history. It's a nice change up, and has enough options to fiddle around with. Not only that but it can abuse Eviolite and Special Metal to make it annoying to kill.

8/10 Modified
9/10 Limited

I like how durant is possibly one of the cheapest decks to make, you can make the whole deck with no rare cards, or just a couple (Pichu or Rotom or Hypno). The rest are common/uncommon cards, great for a player that doesn't have lots of money to work with.
