By far one of the most interesting decks in format: You can run zero energy in your deck and still win on prizes. Great weakness to have, currently. (zoroark makes you cry though)

Creativity: 10/10

Modified: 8/10 (very viable metagame deck)
Limited: 7/10 (hitting for bench damage AND status conditions wins games here)
Unlimited: 6/10 (makes a fun semi-serious unlimited deck using bts, scoop up, etc, to maxamize damage counter drops, but still outclassed by crobat g, etc)

Favourite card from the new set, after Durant of course.

Although it can win a game with no energy, it's attack is amazing, allowing the deck to take 1-2-3 prizes a turn.
It has great HP (Not OHKO'd by Dragons second attack), pretty good typing, nice weakness, retreat almost forces dodrio to be run in the deck though. Great well rounded card that I would definitely look out for in tournaments.

Nice HP, tho I guess it's only moderate for Stage 2s, an outstanding Pokebody that allows for bizarre strategies, and an attack that I still love wholeheartedly (50 damage + 2 Special Conditions??? Awesome!), but many completely give up on it in favor of a faster deck that purely relies on the Pokebody. The retreat is a disappointment, being Ghost Type should get it a free retreat, in which case this card would be 10/10. Instead, you'll have to tech Dodrio or similar and incorporate a ton of switches into your deck to make up for it. Still a very good card, tho, I just wish its attack was more useable. :/

8/10 Modified

Oh baby, burned and confused! 50/50 to take damage from burns and confusion AND stop attacking?! Yow! Talk about a bad day. You'd take 100 damage overall from that experience! If not, surely 70 or 80. Unless they get really lucky.

All for the low price of 3 Energies. Add on the 3 damage counter ability and it rains pain on your opponent.

Once Gardevoir (Hail Blizzard) is released in English, it can support Chandelure to attack in 2 turns since every psychic energy will provide two instead of one, awesome.

I will be adding this guy in my ghost/psychic deck.

It can also take advantage of Baby Pokemon as the baby can stall them by falling asleep and they'll still take damage from Chandelure's ability. Of course, sleep to me is never really reliable since you need to flip in between turns... you can wake up the moment you fell asleep, leaving the baby dangerously exposed.

win without attacking! This card is alot of fun. I've seen chandy beaches w/no nrg and it is an amazingly cool deck. Too bad this card needs $200+ worth of deck to go with it to make it top notch.

7/10. This card is amazing with the right deck around it.

9/10 at least.

Super fun to play and versatile. The new chandelure will only make it better.

My personal analysis? Good enough to get me back into the game WAY earlier than expected and that says a lot...

Today's CotD is Chendelure from NV, a rather interesting Pokemon. Statwise 130 HP is average for a Stage 2, x2 Weakness to :dark: is ok (seriously, besides Zoroark, what other is used?), no Resistance is common, and :colorless::colorless: to Retreat is a bit pricey. Cursed Shadow is his main selling point; this nifty Ability lets you toss 3 damage counters onto your opponent's Pokemon however you like while Chandelure is active, making it potent spread damage all for free. However, his sole attack, Eerie Glow, is not so hot; :psychic::psychic::colorless: for 50 is weak, and even the added Burn and Confusion effects don't make it that much better since that's random damage if it occurs. So yeah...due to the fact he has to be active for the Ability to work, he's not even worth that much as tech potential unless you have a lot of Retreats handy...

Modified - 6/10 (Maybe I'm missing something compared to the other reviews, but as great as Cursed Shadow is, Eerie Glow is not that great of an attack, not to mention his HP leaves him in OHKO range of others like Zekrom or Reshiram with a PlusPower)
Limited - 5/10 (Good luck getting it out, if you do though he's fairly potent)
Unlimited - 1/10 (No use here, Pokemon with better Powers exist, and his attack is still lackluster)

9/10. Chandelure/Vileplume/Dodrio is an amazing combo. Having the ability to spread 60 every turn + 60 from attack? Yes, please.

You need to stop only looking at this cards stats, and pay attention to other cards in the format that make this card work, think of it as a Kingdra Prime, times three, then if you retreat/switch it's another 3 damage, then if you retreat/switch, it's another 3 damage. Dodrio/Vileplume sort out the retreat/Pluspower issue, and blissey prime recovers it when it's dealt 120 damage. Say Zekrom attacks, it does 120 damage, then 40 to itself, leaving it at 90HP. Your active can deal 3 damage to it, leaving it at 60HP, retreat it to the bench, put another damage on it, and 2 anywhere you see fit. By the time the decks completely set up, it will more than likely be able to have 3 energies on it, you you can 50 for the KO. If you're feeling lucky, you can hope they roll tails for burn/confusion, and have an extra 2 damage to place elsewhere.

This is one of the best card designs/concepts we have seen in ages.

Powerful, but balanced. Able to compete in the format without dominating it or being broken. Works well with existing cards (Vileplume, Dodrio, TB). Needs some skill to play well.

7.5/10 for the card

10/10 for whoever designed it.

Lots of fun to play with Dodrio and switches - will be awesome when warp point comes back in play

My only loss at two tournaments during Swiss was to Chandelure. Psychic types are just too tricky.
Run it with Dodrio/Jirachi and you have yourself a deck.
