From a collector's standpoint 8/10. (I like BW Pikachu better personally).
It's a pretty tough card to come by. 1 in 3 Booster Boxes... that's tough to find! I mean that's the rarity of the Gold Star cards from back in the day.

I pulled one of these and it's one of those cards you admire looking at while scrolling through your binder. Just like my Victory Cups.
So, Player's Standpoint: 2/10
Collecting Standpoint: 8/10

I understand that for Pikachu and Meowth, the idea is that Ash's Pikachu and Team Rocket's Mewoth are the only Kanto region Pokemon in Unova.

What I don't get is why they are simply just "Pikachu" and "Meowth".

Pikachu I understand the Lightning Bolt, as that's all we really know it for. That's all it does. Every episode. Thunderbolt this, Volt tackle that...

Meowth's charm though...seems out of place. I'd have much rather had it be a Rocket "R" instead.

Additionally, there's no mention of either trainers, so to have these seem like wild Pikachu and Meowth just seems silly to me...

Player's standpoint: 1/10. Maybe if we get a better Persian...

Collector's standpoint: 6/10. It's a shame when the only redeeming qualities about a card are it's frequency and the Meowth Charm.

Today's CotD is Meowth from NV...eh. Statwise 60 HP is average for a Basic, x2 Weakness to :fighting: is meh, no Resistance is common, and :colorless: to Retreat is cheap. Fury Swipes deals its usual bit at :colorless: for 10x the number of Heads with 3 coins, and Pay Day is overpriced at :colorless::colorless: for a mere 20, though you do get to draw a card. Add in the fact you'd have to go all the way back to HGSS for a Persian (and not a very good one at that) and it just adds up to Meowth being a rather subpar card.

Modified - 1/10 (Seriously, there's like no reason to run him, his evolution isn't good and he himself offers nothing special)
Limited - 3/10 (You can't evolve him and he has better value as a collector's object, but he is splashable and Pay Day can put you some cards ahead of your opponent. That being said, don't feel pressured into using him by any means)
Unlimited - 1/10 (No use here at all, still weak and still evolves into nothing good)

Mee-Yowth

Player's Standpoint: 1/10 (Virtually Unplayable. I mean, it could be used as a starter, but Virizion is already better for basic draw.

Collector's Standpoint: 9/10 (Textured part is better than Pikachu's, gives you good luck  and 1 in 3 boxes.)

MY Standpoint: 10/10 (In the 2 post-play packs of an NV prerelease, i pulled Kyurem in the first and this in the second .)

Well if you have a deck with pershin in it i would say put this in with it. But this is more of a collecting card..... i pulled this card in a pack not to long ago.

A secret rare! I like it, but too bad it isn't that good.

60 HP is good for a basic. Fighting weakness hurts, and the retreat cost is average.

The first attack, Fury Swipes, uses a single energy, and you flip 3 coins, which does 10 times the number of heads. This means you can hit for either 10,20,30, or 0. Kind of luck based if you ask me. The second attack, for two energy, hits for 20, and you draw a card. Two energies and you draw a card? What kind of drawing attack is that. For an attack like that, it should draw 3 cards, not 1!

Overall 1/10 in modified, 3/10 in limited, and 1/10 in unlimited

In modified, at the current state, this card is pretty bad. Its attacks are too luck based, and who would even waste a DCE to draw a card? Persian isn't really such a big card in the current metagame, so with further thanks to that, Meowth isn't that good here, especially with pretty easy ways to KO it.

In limited, this card is somewhat better. Know, the Pay Day attack pays off to some extent, but there is no Persian in NV, which is why its rating isn't that high. With no Persian in NV, it can be easily KOd later in the match.

In unlimited, yep, this card isn't good at all. There are way better options for starters that draw here, and Persian isn't such a big card in unlimited either. :nonono:

In the end, Meowth is much of a collector's item, and for that, I'll give it an 8/10. The holo Amulet Coin that appears in the center of the card really makes it a collector's treat, especially since it is NV's secret rare.
