Awesome ability (can attach to any pokemon); great weakness; terrific hit points - what's not to love? Retreat cost is painful, but when paired with Keldeo Ex, it's almost irrelevant.

9/10

Never had gotten lucky enough to get Base/Base 2 Blastoise or Blastoise ex with the Poke Power/Body do do the same thing as the Ablity on this card does. I've always liked that Ability so I give it a 9/10!

He's as good as the Pokemon he has to work with.

Lucky he's got Keldeo and Mewtwo, then.

8/10

Gotta admit, I was skeptical at first, especially when Bicylce was cut, but a weekend of CC's changed that in an instant. With Keldeo to cover his main weakness (retreat), easily a great energy accelerator.

8.5/10 only because of the deck's reliance on the hand.

Blastoise was the one they did not reprint in Legendary Collection. When it was reincarnated, there were restrictions. In RS, it was once per turn. In FRLG, it damaged the pokemon being attached to. In SW, it was all energy in one action and your turn ended. After years of restricting it, Blastoise comes back without any restriction, making what was a Rain Dance into a real Deluge.

His weakness to :grass: is way better than in base set because :grass: pokemon trend lower damage attacks in favor of healing or special conditions so not only is this Blastoise more likely to survive but its attack has no damage cap and its ability is not shut off by the special conditions.

Pair it with with non-Supporter draw and you'll be playing like it's 1999!

This is a card thats almost impossible to look at by itself, since its success is equally to acredit with Squirtle and Keldeo EX. On its own i'd say its a solid 7.5, the ability is good, but as we see with Emboar, not enough to make more than a Splash.

With Keldeo and Squirtle considered in its evalutation, i'll give it an 8.5.

And if we ever get that legendary Black Kyurem EX from Japan, i'll bump him all the way to 9.

But i just cant give any stage 2 a 10/10 in this format =/ Squirtle can still be picked off every big ex player eventually, some (Tornadus, and Landy + PBH and Virbank) as quickly as T1. But this is certainly the best stage 2 right now, just above Hydregion.
