Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

2012 Texas State Championship ~ March 17th

Thanks to all who showed up. We missed some of our regulars and still filled the house. Hope everyone enjoyed the location as other than Subway being a failure (I sent in a customer report) there was no complaints that I heard about.

Subway wasn't even notified there was an event going on that day. Not to mention the homeless people that were everywhere.

Subway was contacted multiple times so if they said otherwise then that is them trying to shift blame. There were multiple calls and visits. The staff even said the manager does not listen to his voice mail after asking if the call went straight to it. The homeless might have been outside the event but they were not in the event that I know of. If you were unhappy then just say so. I said that I did not hear any complaints. I never suggested it was perfect as I did say that I hope everyone enjoyed it. Clearly you did not.

My family and I had a great time!! The food drive was AWESOME and I was really excited to win a raffle prize.

There were just a few issues though...
  • Homeless people. They were everywhere, especially outside of the venue. There were a few inside, but not nearly as many as were outside. It was a bit frightening. We even got one run up to our car on the way out asking for money, which made us feel very unsafe.
  • Food. The Subway was overwhelmed and out of sandwich stuff quickly because they were unaware that there were going to be so many people. There was an okay restuarant right next to subway, but it took a very long time for our food to arrive. Subway being notified of the event would have been good.
  • A few very rude people. I met several people throughout the day, and a few shared stories of other players trying to put them down for one reason or another. My friend got mixed up at a table and a guy by the name of Ron said something about "I would have beat your stupid *** deck anyways". Nothing happened to myself or my family, but I met a few people that weren't pleased with a few in the crowd.

Overall, we had a ton of fun and this was a great tournament. The judge staff for the masters was AMAZING. It just seemed like there could have been better decisions made about the venue and preparations.

Looking forward to regionals!

As I stated in my last post. If Subway said they did not know that is them shifting blame. Started trying to get the manager in January. I called during the times I was told. There was a visit to store to see about pre-ordering staff lunch and getting the store informed that there would be a huge event. The staff member gave the phone number of the manager. The calls go directly to voice mail. Was told week before the event the manager would not be in. On Friday when menus were picked up to allow staff to have them to view the options and was told again. The Subway staff was informed again and asked about the manager. They asked if went directly to voice mail. They then said the manager does not listen to voice mail. I will defend this as I was involved with trying to get Subway notified. I have the number in my phone as well as document that I used for the address and phone number of the Subway.

As for someone being rude and saying such things then a judge should have been notified of it. Nothing can be done about such behavior without notification.

thanks So much Birch for the event i'm still mad my mewtwo ex got stolen from from my deck. hope to come next year

^ So sorry to hear that :( . I heard at league on Monday that someone at States had his Mewtwo EX stolen, and the first thing I thought was that it was no mistake, but targeted action. :nonono:

Some people are so desperate for a viable deck that they'll just out-and-out steal in a library. Sick.
