Hey guys, I'm Jason, I'm a 22 y/o from Southern Oregon, and I went up this weekend to the triple
header Portland area Marathon! First day in Milwaukie Oregon, I got top 8 before being knocked out
of the finals, then on Saturday in Portland CC's, I went 3-3. I changed a bunch of cards from my
deck out Saturday night, and went to the West Linn CC's with my LUXCHOMP deck!

West Linn Cities - 50+ Masters, 6 swiss, top 8!

Round 1, Chris S. w/ Luxchomp

He got a bad start, tried to lookers into something better and never really got off the ground. I was
able to get my Garchomps rolling, and a uxie setup before he had gotten his 3 sp's out, he scooped
after I had gotten up by 3 or so prizes.

1-0

Round 2, Machamp (I think maybe Sandii was her name, something like that.)

She was kind of new to the game, she started with uxie or azelf. After I had gotten set up with my
garchomps and luxrays, she would bench a machop, I would D-rush it, she'd bench another, I'd
bright look / Flash impact it. She scooped at the point of about 2-6 prize count, but she never got
more than a machoke on the field.

2-0

LUNCH! YAY PIZZA!

Round 3, Nick w/ Regigigas

He didn't get a very good start either, I just built my field and focused on getting ahead on prizes and hitting his Gigas, with 3 prizes
left for me, he laid another Gigas down, I D-rushed it for 80, he brought it up, attached expert belt,
sacrificed to heal it (I took a prize, 2 left), and killed my Garchomp X. I put up crobat G, Laid down
Toxicroak, used Galactic switch to move an :lightning: energy over, Attached a :psychic:, attached an
expert belt, brought it up, and poision revenge for 60 + 20...x 2 for 160 and poison. KO'ing the Gigas
inbetween turns...sweet action.

3-0

Roung 4 Ben with Gyarados

Another bad start for my opponent, I was able to get a couple of D-rush or flash impact KO's before
he got out his first Gyarados. With Lucario making his weakness x2, I trashbolted for most of my prizes
after that. But I thought of a nice trick with Rescue energy that I knew I would have to use later! (Like
in my top 4 match!)

4-0

Round 5 Aaron w/ Sablelock

He was 3-1, I don't remember a whole lot of this game, but I can recall early in the game grabbing out
2 garchomp C's and 1 ambipom G with collector, and I was able to get my basics down before he was.
I ended up winning the battle of 'revenge kills' that SP's are so famous for, and ended up winning by
a few prizes in the end.

5-0

Round 6 Grahm w/Luxchomp

Mirror Mirror on the wall...We had a lot of fun playing eachother. I started second, so naturally was about
1 step ahead most of the match. We were trading blows, revenge killing, and at about 3-4 prizes, he
made a misplay (That he never really explained to me), and got an additional step behind, I ended up
winning by a few prizes.

6-0

So I go undeafeated through swiss, and my T8 Opponent ends up being the guy I faced in round 5.

T8 Aaron with Sablelock

Again, I don't remember a lot about these games, but I remember struggling a little on the first one,
using Smeargal's portrait to use his judges a couple of times as a means of drawing. >.< But I was able
to squeeze out enough prizes to win the first one, and I had a much easier time of winning the second
game.

7-0
T4 Chris w/ gyarados
Game 1
I didn’t get the awesome start I was hoping for, he jumped right out to an early lead, setting up his field and getting out the 90 tail revenge right away. All I could do was try and set up my luxrays for trash bolt, with lucario down, but he was KOing me faster than I could set them up. I ended up scooping.
(0-1)

Game 2
He had started with 1 Pokémon, so I elected to go first. It was a magikarp. I had a crobat and uxie in my hand, I flash bit him, and set up. I got another uxie and crobat. So I flash bit him again, and set up again, just needing an energy hit him with uxie for the win. And I didn’t get it. So I let him go. He played down a Unown Q and saybleye, Q’d his magikarp to retreat it, then for good measure benched another magikarp. And used impersonate. I had a poketurn in my hand, so I used it to flashbite his magickarp for one prize. I had left my smeargal up, so I did portrait, and found a seeker, seeker’ed his magikarp back to his hand, picked up my crobat, flash bit his saybleye, cyrused for a turn, and did it again, benched ambipom, attached energy gain/ energy, Q’d my smeargle, and put up ambipom for the KO.
(1-1)

Game 3
He got off to a better start than the second game, but I was keeping up. But when he got out gyarados, the prize count was 4-5, I was leading. He put a recsue energy on it, and I could only get my hands on 1 luxray GL. So I decided to use my Ambipom to move rescue energy to his benched azelf. He attached another rescue to it KO’ed my ambipom, 4-4. So I put out another ambipom, moved another rescue to his azelf. He didn’t have another rescue, so he just KO’ed my ambipom. 4-3. I brought up my luxray and trash bolted it. 3-3. The next turn, he couldn’t get out his gyarados again, so I was able to get another step ahead on prizes. Once it was 2-3, I was able to dragon rush and bright look my way to a close win.
(2-1)
8-0

So I had made it to the final match. The other branch had one of it’s players drop from the tournament, So DJ got to go to the final match with me.
FINALS vs DJ w/ Luxchomp
Game 1
I got a really great start, I was up 2 prizes to 6 at one point. He brought up Blaziken and spent a few turns Luring Flaming me to stall me for a while. I got a prize when I got my warp point out, and we had another few turns of him doing Luring Flame, before I was finally able to hit him with flash impact for 60. He turned his blaziken, benched it, put it back up, and luring flamed me again. I retreated my Pokémon, put up my uxie X with 2 energies on it, attached expert belt, and zen bladed for 80.
(1-0)

Game 2
Both of us had very slow starts, I had bad energy, he seemed to have the same problem. Time was called with him a prize up, and he was able to get another prize up on the 1 of the +3, I didn’t have anything to catch him with. So I scooped.
(1-1)
Game 3
Because time ran out, this was a sudden death match, 1 prize each. Because it was a sudden death match, I didn’t get to select who went first. We flipped, and he ended up going first. He had a blaziken start, attached lightening, and passed. I didn’t get any great starters, so I did cyrus, got my garchomp, an energy and energy gain. I had my crobat active, so I just needed another turn to get the X, but that’s all I could do, so I passed. He had the cyrus, so he got sp radar, fire energy, got the Blaziken X, and stomped my crobat into the ground for the win.
(1-2)
8-1

^It's the truth, I was very, very, very... (Goes on for like 100 verys) lucky to not get that matchup all day.
Though I rolled my eyes in round 2 when I had to face the mom with Machamp, I was like... am I about to lose
to some junior regonal champion's MOM?

Hey Jason, this is Nick. I was your Regigigas opponent. Yeah, my start sucked, but you're always a tough player. Good luck in your other cities!

lol at R1 i bet that was a noob who just picked up luxchomp... wait a min thats me!!! lol GJ on 2nd and hope to play u again soon

Congrats on finishing 2nd. You played Ian W. mother in Round 2. I know that becuase afterwards she came up to me and my wife bragging that she just played against last years Regional Champion.

^Thanks, yea she seemed to get a kick out of that. I'm finding more and more that it's just not a big deal, there
are so many good players in Oregon, that being a regional champion doesn't give me any edge over anyone else,
I went 3-3 on Saturday. >.< I keep seeing amazing players just battling it out to break even at some of these
touranemnts. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, soon is coming the day when an oregonian wins Nationals
and/or worlds. And Washington really dominated the NW when I got here a couple years ago, I think we've tipped
the scale, and then some!

Nice report Jason. Glad we get to see you again this weekend :thumb:
The props are nice. The amazing players we have here is what makes us...

Yeah I was definitely your T8 opponent, playing Sablelock. It's funny, on the way up Clint and I had a debate about whether or not to include Dragonite in my list- I chose to play something else instead. I'm wondering if it would have tilted the scales a little more in my favor during our matches Jason, particularly the one when my Garchomp and Ambipom were prized. Nice work getting to finals, I'll have to get my revenge at Salem haha.
