What's good peeps? My name is Joshua Henry and this my report. I'm playing Cursegar 2.0 and those who were there and don't know how I am, I had the pink dress shirt and black sweater vest. Anyway, let's jump right in.

Round 1 vs. Spread (Gallade 4 Lv. X, Giratina Lv. X, and DCL)
We both get a slow set-up but he takes a few early prizes with Gallade 4, the base form. Yeah, I know right? Just goes to show how bad my set-up was :/ Slowly but surely I get my desired set-up but I'm down in prizes and there too much damage on my side of the field to make a come back. GG sir
(0-1)

Round 2 vs. BlastGatr
I get my god start (Spiritomb w/ Call Energy and various Supporters) and she starts with a lone Squirtle. I have a BlastGatr deck myself thatI play for fun so I know that I must take out any form of Blastoise that tries to take the field, and that's exactly what I did. She did manage to get one Blastoise out but it had too much damage from when I SR'd it twice while it was a Wartortle, not to mention the fact that she didn't have enough energy to Hydro Launcher anyway, so yeah. GG though seriously! I was happy to see some bold deck choices out there.
(1-1)

Round 3 vs. (Ursaring Prime, Slowking and Exeggutor)
I get my usual start which consists of Spiritomb and Call Energy w/ Supporters to his Uxie? I think? Anyway, he Collectors and searches for Slowpoke, Exeggcute, and Teddiursa. At that moment, I know eactly how his deck is going to work. Knowing that I set-up as fast as humanly possible. His deck relied heavily on Trainers to empty his hand and then Psychic Exchange with Exeggutor thus my Spiritomb start slowed him down. He played Cyclone Energy but I had 2 Spiritombs in play so that solved that. Long story short, I got my complete set-up before it mattered whether he Psychic Exchanged or not and it was downhill from there. GG sir! Again, It's refreshing to see rogue decks make the scene.
(2-1)

Round 4 vs. (Tyranitar Prime)
He mulligans and I see a Pupitar and a PokeHealer and my heart sinks. He tries to set-up with Sableye and slow him down with Judge each time. He finally gets a belted T-tar on the bench but I get first blood with a Shadow Skip to his active Sableye and 10 to the T-tar and I switch out for Spiritomb. I've got a Crobat Prime on stand-by so I'm not terribly worried. He takes out Spiritomb and I promote Crobat Prime and use Severe Poison. Though he has enough energy to one-shot me, I didn't feel that bad since he's x4 poisoned. Suddenly, he whips out a single PokeHealer to cure the poison and the situation changes dramatically. With my trump card gone, I'm forced to make him risk a Fainting Spell after I SR one of his Uxie for a quick prize. He KOs Gengar and I get heads on Fainting Spell for 2 more prizes. He brings up another Belted T-tar and I promote my last Crobat Prime. His hand was pretty sizable so I begin my turn with a Judge to minimize the chance of him finding another PokeHealer and then Severe Poison his T-tar. Luckily, he doesn't find it but he one-shots my Crobat again. It's okay this time since he's still x4 poisoned. I bring up my Belted Cursegar to finish it off. How? Well let's do some math here. Belted T-tar = 180 HP - (Poision from my turn, 40) - (Poison from his turn, 40) - (Belted Shadow Skip after resisitance, 60) - (Poison after my turn, 40) = KO *phew* After that, It was downhill for him and I take my final prize from anything he brings up. Really close game! Very good game sir!
(3-1)

Round 5 vs. Magnezone Prime
Though Magnezone Prime has amazing damage output, it would never hit my main attacker so I was never worried about this matchup. Long story short, I pressured the Magnezones with Severe Poison and finished them off with Shadow Skip. I take down two of them this way and it's downhill after that and I sweep with a Belted Cursegar. GG sir!
(4-1)

Round 6 vs. Gengar/Machamp/Vileplume
I got set-up considerably faster than he did but having 3 Stage 2's in your deck can have that effect. When he finally gets out a Gengar, he Shadow Rooms my Belted Cursegar but then I turn around and use Espeon's Solar Suggestion and put 4 back on his Gengar. This cycle continues until I knock it out keeping my Cursegar safely out of KO range with 40 damage on it. After his only Gengar is gone, he shifts his offensive focus to Machamp, which due to weakness, is easy to handle. GG sir! See ya in Top 8!
(5-1)

Round 7 vs. Gengar/ Gliscor Lv.X
He got out a Gengar Prime T2 and Lost Zoned a Cursegar when I was going to evolve it next turn. At this point, my only option was to use Sleep Poison to stall. Luckily for me, this gamble pays off for 4 turns and I'm able to set up and take out the Lostgar. A few turns back I noticed he Collector'd for a Gligar and at that moment I knew a Shoot Poison was in my future. The funny thing is that during that same turn I somehow managed to accumulate 3 Warp Energy in my hand and boy was I thankful for that! It's a long game but I hold the lead the entire game thnks to the surplus of Warp Energy in my hand. GG sir! Very cool deck!
(6-1)

Standings go up and I get 3rd seed! Considering I started the day at 0-1, this made me very happy but little did I know, I was about to have a really rude awakening. The judges from deck check call me over for a discussion. They tell me that two of my sleeves were considerably darker than the rest of the deck and those two cards just so happened to be a Cursegar and Gengar Lv. X and I was issued a Game loss going into top cut. Needless to say, I was pretty pissed and I tried to tell the judges that I didn't even noticed until they pointed it out and they didn't catch it at registration. Anyway, after a long heated arguement, I just shut-up and take the game loss and proceed to re-sleeve my deck with sleeves they provided. The Head Judge tells me that my behavoir is understandble but that doesn't excuse my rudeness toward the other judges. After I cool down a bit, I round up all the judges and apologize for my rude behavior towards them and explain that I'd probably would have the same thing in their position. So now with no more animosity in the air, I can proceed with my high-pressured match with a clear head. That said, here we go.

Top 16 vs. Raichu Prime w/ Rayquaza LA
Game 1:
He starts with Uxie active and a Rayquaza on the bench. At this point, I have no idea what he's playing so I just set up as usual. On his next turn, his Collectors for a couple of Pikachu and at that moment, I knew exactly how this was going to down. Raichu Prime hits hard but it loses all its energy from Mega Thunderbolt so how often it attacks is solely dependent on luck via Rayquaza LA and Energy Pickup. He was short on luck this game as I sacrifice Spiritombs to get 120'd and stop his trainer use.
(1-1)

Game 2:
Pretty much the same as Game 1 except his luck was cranked up to 11. At one point in the game, he scores 6 heads with Rayquaza LA for 6 six energy. At another point in the game, he whips out a Raichu Lv. X to get a Double KO and Espeon and a Haunter. Towards the end of the game, I managed to take out all his Raichu but I'm still down by one prize and he has a Pikachu on the bench and I know he runs Pokemon Rescue. That said, I just continue to sweep with a Belted Cursegar for my final prizes. This was a very unorthodox deck and I can truly understand how it made this far. I was really impressed with his deck. Excellent games my friend!

(7-1)

Top 8 vs. Gengar/Machamp/Vileplume
Game 1:
This went like Round 6 except for the prize count was close all game. Also learning from our game in Round 6, he primarily attacked with Machamp. The high-light of the game (not necessarly for me but it was still pretty amusing XD) was when I brought up a Crobat Prime to his Machamp Lv.X. He uses Hurricane Punch and needs three heads for the KO. Guess what? The first 3 flips were heads *facepalm*
(1-0)

Game 2:
This game was MUCH easier! I set-up like usual and he has an Oddish start and can't get anything going. I get a T2 Espeon and start Psybeam-ing stuff for easy KO's. I swear I've never used Psybeam in my life beforel that match o_O He finaly gets out a Spiritomb and starts Darkness Gracing on 2 two of his Machops but can't find energy all game so I just snipe those with Crobat Prime. He makes one last stand with a Machamp Lv. X to take down my Crobat Prime, then I clean up with a Double KO with a Belted Cursegar Lv. X. GG sir!
(2-0)
(8-1)

Top 4 vs. Karl and Luxchomp
Game 1:
I got slaughtered. I sac'd five prizes before I could get anything going. I managed to take 3 prizes after that but how hard is it to take one more with Luxchomp huh?
(0-1)

Game 2:
I get started a little better and even to take the lead in prizes. But he makes a crucial move that cripples me. I had a heavily damaged Cursegar Lv. X on the bench that I managed to heal a little bit thanks to Espeon. Unfortunately, still has the Dialga Lv. X on his bench from T2 and just uses all his resources to take it out for 2 prizes. If you ask me why I didn't Level it Down earlier, it's because I was trying to stay ahead in prizes by OHKOing Garchomps and Luxrays and an ERL. So yeah, it was a bit of a trade off. After that the only thing I had left was a Crobat Prime, as I attempt to take my last prize off his damaged Uxie on the bench but then he wipes it out with a surprise Luxray for the game. This was my first SP match-up for the day so knew it would be tough :( GG man and Gratz on winning!

Overall, I was very pleased with my performance. Cursegar is still a very good deck that was just neglected when Claydol went away.

Props:
Cursegar for being a fun and versatile deck
Great Venue
Free Lunch
Awesome Staff (sorry about "you know what" :p)

Good job man, props on the rogue. I also had to re sleeve for tops at the same tourny but didn't get a game loss for it. Even with 17 supporters, it goes to show that consistency can be king and get you deep in tournies. Well done.

It was great getting to see you at the top tables again Joshua.

Well done for the event and see you at Nats!

Biffmasta: Yeah, I like a heavy Supporter line as opposed to a hand full of trainers I can't use due to trainer lock. Being able to use a specific Supporter every turn maximizes consistancy the whole game, at least for me anyway. Doing it this way makes my deck practically JUDGE-proof. I never draw dead off Judges. But yeah, thanks man :)

Infernape Master: We spend so much time preparing for the meta-game that certain rogue decks always seem to do well at tournies. That's why I always play rogue. Rogue decks taking much longer to craft and perfect as opposed to meta but the satifaction of rising to the top through the field is so awesome XD Thanks man :)

EeveeLover: With the combination of the 0-1 at the start of the day and the Top 16 game loss, it was a hard earned trip to the top but yeah. Thanks a bunch man :)
