Having not played pokemon for 4 months, I decided to ask for advice from my reliable friend BJ. He quickly suggested that I should play durant. Seeing that it won provincials in Ontario in the hands of Matt Koo, I thought that it was a good idea (plus I do not have any cards for CMT)... plus I like gold fish decks where you just do your own thing. Less thinking involved, the better for me lol.
Side Note: Bidier was the inspiration for the winning decklist that Matt used in Ontario (Bidier forced me to put this in my report)
After deciding to play only 1 catcher instead of 2, I printed my decklist and just hoped for the best.
Round 1: Erik with Mewtwo/Pachi/Shaymin
He starts with mewtwo and I start with durant. Turn 1 he plays pachi and shaymin. Mewtwo attacks for 40 on my lone durant. I tried to get another basic with a PONT to which I succeeded by getting another durant. Next turn, Erik just played another Pachi and Shaymin to OHKO everything and I couldnt grab my Mewtwo+DCE tech. I lost pretty hard lol.

Round 2: Julia with Durant
Sucks to play a friend this early. I was able to setup my durants first and I just milled her first before she could mill me out.

Round 3: Andrew with Zek/Thundurus/Eel
2nd or 3rd turn, I PONT and got 3 of my durants. He starts knocking out durants with Thundurus. I try to stall the game by using catcher on Eelektrik. At one point in the game, I believe he was able to setup Zekrom with 3 energies to KO a durant. I return KO with mewtwo then started milling again with durant.

Round 4: Gordon with Zek/Eel
He starts Tynamo to my Durant. I attach DCE to my durant for the donk. He contemplated if he wanted to bench his EX in his hand but decided not to. Not a good game at all. Sorry about that.

Round 5: Kyle with Reshiphlosion
I start first with my durant to his lone Cyndaquil. I attach DCE to my durant and attack for 30, hoping that he doesnt have another basic or collectors. Still not sure if this was the right play. Unfortunately he collectors for 3 more basics but decided to attach the fire energy to his benched pokemon, thinking that I would KO his active cyndaquil. I started milling for 4. He didnt get any energies to retreat his active for a couple of turns. Milling his Typhlosions didnt help him either.

Round 6: Simon with Durant
My 2nd mirror match of the day. We start with durants. He goes first and was able to setup 4 energies. I drew a card and passed. We both laughed for some reason lol. I got to play a supporter first (Junipers) but it eventually cost him the game. After a few turns, we both started to mill each other for 4 but him playing 2 junipers early gave me the advantage. Gg Simon!

Top 16 vs Ian with Zek/Thundurus/Eel
Games 1 and 2:
Both of our games played out identically. I setup durants and stall with catcher on Eelektrik, Returning KOs with mewtwo when he brings out his Zekrom with 3 energies. Luckily I was able to mill him out on time.
Top 8 vs BC person (sorry forgot your name as well) with Zek/Thundurus/Tynamo
yeah... tynamo since he didnt put any Eelektriks in his list so he was forced to replace them with basic energies. After my top 16 match, Dexter said how bad Sam was at this game (jokingly of course) for losing in top 16 to my would-be opponent in top 8. That's when I found out that he wasnt playing any eelektriks. Somehow, I felt that it would be harder for me to win since Catcher will be considerably weaker without an eelektrik to pull into the active spot.
Game 1:
Same game plan, mill with durants while he tries to OHKO my durants with Thundurus and pluspower. I was lucky enough to hit a few heads on crushing hammers and stall while he had a zekrom with no energies active. Eventually, I mill him out.
Game 2:
This was a much closer game. It started the same way as game 1 but one of my durants was prized. I started using rotom and I whiffed twice on my 4th durant. He catchers my rotom and KOs it with a Thundurus. Next turn, I believe I catchered his bench Zekrom with 2 energies. I used crushing hammer on his benched Thundurus so it will only have 1 energy attached, forcing him to attack with Zekrom if he didnt want to waste a turn without a KO. Thankfully, that's what he did which I return KOed with a mewtwo+dce. Finally got my 4th durant from my prizes. I noticed that I can't win with Mewtwo since I will deck myself out before he did (ironic). I junk armed for super rod to return my durants to my deck and flipped 2 heads with dual ball. Retreated mewtwo and started milling for the win.
Top 4 vs Isaiah (CMT)
Game 1:
He goes first with Tornadus? (I think) to my lone durant. He was able to switch to celebi, attach grass energy. He then plays Tower for free retreat and attaches DCE for the donk.
Game 2:
I had a better start. He setups one mewtwo. He basically one shots every durant turn after turn. With him having 3 prizes left, I needed to bench my Mewtwo and hope to get my DCE so I dont get far behind (Contrary to his report where he mentioned that I thought since he has 2 cards in hand, he didn't have a catcher. I was "hoping" that he doesnt have catcher was a more appropriate statement). I misplayed by using junk arm for an eviolite instead of pokegear to try and get Twins for my DCE. Instead, I used Juniper and whiffed. He catchers my mewtwo next turn for the KO. the following turn I was able to super rod my mewtwo back and return KO his mewtwo with my own+DCE via twins after retreating with durant for free (Tower in play). The following turn, he was able to setup a Tornadus and catchers my benched durant for the final prize.
Finished 3rd place which I was happy about
