So uh...I decided to make a report. The night before the tourney, I didn't know what to play. I was either going to play Chenlock, VileGar, or LuxChomp/ERL. I picked LuxChomp ERL because I was expecting Dos and Dialga with some LC mirror. I teched in Roserade GL because it's the best SP tech available IMO. Ten minutes before registration ends, a friend of a friend arrives. He's in masters and doesn't really like his deck, so we throw Donphan together in 5 minutes and write out a list. Anyways, I turn in my decklist, find two Luxray GL X to borrow, (Thank you very much Noah and Shawn) and the tourney begins.
Round 1 vs. ??? with Random
Sorta new player. He's playing dark types. I open Collector, two DCE, and Cyrus. I dragon rush everything for game.
Round 2 vs. Jared with BLG
I start Smeargle, however neither one of us have a Supporter. He calls, and I draw/pass. He locks my Smeargle active with Roserade GL and kills it, getting a Cyrus from his prizes. Next turn, I draw Collector and grab two Chomps and Uxie. I draw into two Cyrus from Set Up and get rolling. I then proceed to snipe both of his Garchomps and spray his Bright Look. For a couple turns, neither one of us can take a prize. I'm busy grabbing the components to drop ERL. I have Roserade active and poison bind his Lux X, bringing it within KO range of ERL. I play down Lux X and bait his spray with Bright Look. Then, I lay down ERL and G-switch, then attach. I thunder fall killing 3 of his Pokemon and two of mine. He sends up Blaziken FB X and Luring Flames something, iirc Bronzong G. I Poke Turn Zong, send up Luxray GL, Level Up, Bright Look his Roserade, attach E-Gian and Lightning, then Collector for Double Bat. He doesn't have Spray so GG.
Round 3 vs. Kyle with Bug.dek
His deck is a lock deck with Beutifly, Dustox, and Vileplume. when it gets set up, it pretty much wins. He starts Wurmple to my Luxray GL. (YES!) I have Call and call for two SPs, with Spray in hand. He tries to Set Up, but I deny it with Power Spray. Next turn I Bright Look his Oddish and kill it. He then Judges and benches Tomb, but he cannot retreat. I Dragon rush his Tomb next turn. He judges me a couple more times, and gets out a Beutifly with Grass and DCE. however it is weak to lightning, so I bench Lucario GL and Flash Impact it for game. (It was his last Pokemon.)
Round 4 vs. Young Jorge with ChenLock
I get a bad hand. I D-Rush some stuff and Flash Impact a couple things, but I can't recover from my terrible start and lose by two prizes.
Round 5 vs. Noah with Gyarados
We both start Uxie. He goes first and Draw/Passes. I decide to go for the donk, but I fall 10 damage short as I can't grab a Poketurn. He then benches a Magikarp and collectors and ends. I Bright Look Karp and Bite it for KO. He then Bebe's for Sableye and Comms for Dos. He sends up Sableye and Impersonates. I Flash Bite the Uxie I tried to donk for the KO and then KO Sableye. He return KO's with Dos. I think I Dragon Rush something for KO. I lay down ERL and attach to it. I then have to start sacrificing stuff until I finally get Luxray X to KO something on the bench, as I had full bench space and couldn't lay down Lucario GL. He returns the KO and it's 1-1. (He belts his Regice to keep it alive.) However I simply attach to ERL, lay down Lucario, and Detonation Spin his Gdos for game.
So I'm 4-1 and in top cut. Yay
Top 4 vs. Young Jorge with ChenLock
Game 1:
He locks me.
Game 2:
He takes 5 prizes to my two. I'm about to scoop, but I don't. I get out my Uxie X and I'm able to KO his Garchomp C X without getting return KO'd. He benches a Chomp C. He doesn't have the resources to KO still, so he just attaches to it and ends. I get Dragon Rush next turn and KO it. He still can't KO and attaches DCE to Dragonite FB and ends. It already had 10 damage on it, so I retreat to Crobat and Turn it then flash bite/D-Rush Draggy. I had been Spraying his Trade-Offs to make sure he couldn't get resources to KO me. He has no attackers on the board and ends. I have Turn/DCE in hand. GG Bro.
Game 3:
He gets a great start and I get a decent one. He gets off to a quick lead. There is not much time in the match and he takes a couple quick prizes. I wasn't going to be able to take enough prizes in the remaining time so I scoop. good job Young Jorge.
It turns out that Masters top cut was 3 LuxChomps and the person who borrowed my Donphan. He won.
