Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

A funny thing I saw at my last Prerelease....

OK, so I'm not sure if many people have this at their PR events, but the guy who runs it always trades away his extra packs for people's cards. So I walked over to his desk, and I see one of the guys at the PR trading their Luxray GL LV X for seven packs of Triumphant! I was thinking "Whoa, you just got ripped off." Then, he pulls out ANOTHER Luxray GL LV X, and trades it for ANOTHER seven packs! I was totally stunned at this. I could almost hear the guy running the event chuckling to himself. Other things like this has happened before, like a kid trading away his pokemon LEGEND for a single pack. (And happened to be one I had needed...<_<)Your thoughts on this?

P.S. This is totally not a joke. I know some of you may say "pics or it didn't happen" but it did.

P.P.S. Not sure if this is on the right board or not; since this is mostly about the amount of money this guy lost in the trade, I figured it should go here.

I know at PR events, people go crazy for new packs/cards. But you'd think someone savvy enough to attend a pre-release and has 2 Luxray GL Lv X's would know the value.

Given the guy running it must be a PTO, are there any kind of ethical guidelines they must adhere to for trades?

I'm kind of surprised this behaviour would be supported by TPCi. I would report this practice to OP, and I'm willing to bet someone will hear about it.

wait: who were the 'they' in the OP? the person trading away the packs/receiving the luxrays was the person who also ran the event? a judge trading away their packs?

clarification, please...

Yeah, you got it; the guys trading away the packs was the judge, AKA the person running the event. Sorry for any confusion.

Makes you wonder if he even has any ethics doesn't it? If this truly happened that is.

A TO or PTO runs the event not a judge. Or was this person doing both?

Either way he would no longer judge in the area i do and should be reported to P!P. Can you say RIP OFF?

"A TO or PTO runs the event not a judge. Or was this person doing both?"

Pretty sure he was doing both; he was the only one there.

But whoa, can someone really get into trouble for ripping someone off?

Yes i believe they can. Doesn't set a good example for pokemon when you have a PTO a TO or a JUDGE ripping people off.

........Seriously.... pics or it didn't happen lol, just kidding.
I don't like that. I think it should be reported.

While not condoning the actions of the person in question, if the guy trading the Luxrays did so knowing their value and the packs the organizer traded him were his own (already from a previous event, not this one), then I don't see where P!P could step in here. Like it or not, what a person does with their personal property is up to them. There are always two sides to every story and I think a few are too quick to condemn without having been there to witness, or even heard, both of those sides.

Approximately how old was the "guy" trading his Luxrays?
