The basic strategy is to get Shiftry out as fast as possible with Chaos Gym or Mirage Stadium in play. With Mirage Stadium in play, use Copycat and Conform to Confuse the Defending Pokémon and trap it so that it takes 30 extra damage per turn (in addition to the damage from Shiftry's attacks). With Chaos Gym in play, use Porygon2 so that you can still use Supporters, but your opponent won't be able to use any Trainers or Supporters since his or her flips for Chaos Gym are automatically tails.

Mirage Stadium makes the opponent flip to retreat. With Shiftry's Power, this means that they can't retreat.
