Aerodactyl - Fossil

Overkill

New Member
Hi guys

I have taken this from the Compendium, Could some please explain to me how Playing a rare Candy overrides the pokemon power PREHISTORIC POWER, as you are still playing a evolution card?
Yet PRIMAL AURA Poke body Kabutops - Skyridge you cant not use a rare candy, I personal dont see the logical behide this

Aerodactyl
Power
Prehistoric Power No more Evolution cards can be played. This power stops working while Aerodactyl is Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed.

Kabutops
Poke BODY
As long as Kabutops is your active pokemon neither player can play Basic Pokemon or Evolution cards from his or her hand to evolve bench pokemon

== PREHISTORIC POWER (Aerodactyl - Fossil Expansion)

Q. Does Rare Candy override evolution-preventing effects such as Fossil Aerodactyl's "Prehistoric Power"?
A. Yes, you can use Rare Candy when Aerodactyl's Prehistoric Power is in play. (Sep 18, 2003 PUI Rules Team; Jul 22, 2004 PUI Rules Team)

== PRIMAL AURA (Kabutops - Skyridge)

Q. Can I use Rare Candy on my Pokémon to go to their evolutions if either Kabutops or Omastar from Skyridge is in play (with the powers/bodies that stop evolution)?
A. You could not use a Pokémon's attack or play a Trainer card to evolve your Benched or Active Pokémon, unless the Evolution card you would be putting into play comes from somewhere other than your hand. So Rare Candy cannot be used, but Wally's Training can (when referring to the Active Pokémon). (Aug 5, 2004 PUI Rules Team; Aug 12, 2004 PUI Rules Team)

Primal Aura has the essential clause "from his or her hand", while Prehistoric Power does not. However, notice that Primal Aura does not prevent you from evolving your *active* Pokemon...

Yes that is true, So shouldnt this mean, NO evolving cards are be played at all. No matter if they come from the deck or hand?

Well, I think for Prehistoric Power, if you really look at the wording, it states evolution cards. Evolution cards are ussually considered Pokemon that can be played to evolve into it. So for example, sceptile would be an evolution card for grovyle, so if Prehistoric Power was in affect, I couldn't play sceptile. though cards like rare candy and wally's aren't considered Evolution cards, becuase they are trainers, even though they evolve pokemon. So the trainer's effect overides the Power, so kinda like a loop hole.

As for Primal Aura, it's like bullados said, it acctually states from "his or her hand". So as long as the cards are coming from the hand, they can't be played.

It's all kinda messed up in my oppinion  .
