Funny how everyone forgets Gothitelle.

Most good decks can get past a trainer lock, and even if they couldn't gothitelle doesnt have any very good attacks, and could only attack T3 earliest. It isnt going to be changing the game in the slightest.

I am very disappointed in this set. I was planning on getting a box, mostly because most of the pokemon I had never heard of before, but know it seems to be just a waste of money.

Trainer lock is NEVER game ending. However, Gothitelle's is much more impressive, as you get all of the advantage and none of the disadvantage. Personally I'd play it with either a switch attack, like Gyro Ball, or focus totally on disruption. 2-2 Slowing, a set of Weavile. If you can get the 1-2 draw supporters out of their hand and make their draws duds, you've got a good game going!

I see where your opinion comes from, anyway, but I wouldn't just brush it aside. It has potential.

My thoughts on this set
cards worth getting:
Beartic
Gothitelle
tornadus
Cheren
Catcher
Max potion
Crush Hammer
Bianca

interesting cards with a possible future:
Klinklang (when paired with it's b/w counterpart)
Ferrothorn 73
sigilyph 41 (as a donphan counter)
leavanny 7 (when paired with mew prime)

things that suck:
everything else

If there weren't so dang much energy acceleration in this format, a lot of those energy removing cards would be decent.

All I'm going to say is: it's about time they changed the reverse holos and I love the new style!

Also it's nice to get some english exclusive cards but they could've been better.

As a collector, can anyone point out the cards that have been promoted to foil? I see a nice, holo Braviary and Zoroark. Is there anything else?

From Pokebeach

The holos in this set are Virizion, Beartic, Thundurus, Gothitelle, Excadrill, Terrakion, Zoroark, Cobalion, and Braviary.

So 9 holos in this set, not counting the full art cards. Makes me wonder if I'll pull two of each per booster box.

I think WPM forgot to mention Tornadus in that write-up, making ten holos. You can see the holo effect in the regular Tornadus in Pokebeach's scan, too.

sentiment, of those ten cards, you named the two that got bumped up to holo status. Although, Terrakion, Cobalion and Virizion weren't traditional holos like they are in EP. They had that broken glass holo effect like the Rotom subset or the BW Starters in the pre-made decks do, but it was on the entire card.

Hmm only two Pokemon in the entire set have abilities, one of which will never see use. And none of the other Pokemon are exactly stellar. The saving grace are (obviously) some of the trainers. At first glance I'd rank it below Unleashed but above Undaunted.

Triumphant (Primes)
Black and White
Unleashed
Call of Legends
Undaunted
Emerging Garbage

I am glad no one thinks Thundurus is good. I think I will just do one flight and the pre-release to see what I can pull. Other than that I will be buying singles,
