Ambipom/Weavile 6th Place Canadian Nationals Report (with list)

Congrats man :) I was actually thinking of this deck, but was afraid to play it. We Canadians think alike :)
Congrats again!

This deck looks like so much fun to play. I think the only thing that would keep me from using this is that I would be too freaked out if I ever lost control of their hand and deck XD

Hey. This is fantastic. I love it. And I dont mean to be devils advocate but what do you do against scizor? I only ask because people play scizor by me for whatever reason.

Alaric nicey job bud, im quite impressed coming 6th with a rogue is godly, I'm glad you decided to just play it.

I actually have never played against Scizor with this deck. Weavile can go through the body, I guess. Other than that, you have to just rely on the lockdown.

Congratulations on 6th place with such a unique deck! :thumb:

I was wondering though, have you ever tried using Vileplume in the deck?

Like I said after everyone round, I'm proud of you. I know you've had a slow past 2 years with trying to be rogue, but sometimes you just have to play mainstream to understand the game more.

You and your family is why I stay rogue and I'm glad your did so well going back to roots!

This is such an awesome deck. I have been trying to make disruption work this format, but couldn't get it fast enough. I'll definitely give this a go. Question, though: Have you tried Persian? I know it doesn't do much damage and isn't as consistent, but the discard is tempting. What made you choose Ambipom over Persian? Also, I second the question about the alternative Aipom. Great deck overall. Thanks for posting the list. : )

Also curious why you don't need any recovery, and why you don't run Super Scoop Up. I suppose I should test this more to answer my own questions, but what was your reason?

If I had to guess, I'd say Ambipom works better than Persian because it has more HP, can consistently get rid of 2 cards, and can also do damage while getting rid of cards.

Persian is flippy, and doesn't do damage while discarding.

Hey, great report and congrats on T8. I never had the chance to meet you, i was too busy getting my deck destroyed by the ugly cup ban list.

Funny story, bebesearch tells me I built this deck back on may 17th with 2-2 Cinccino over donphan and xatu. I supose I gave up on it having built it with TRT and Judge never considering taking them out. Oh well.....

I saw people playing Weavile/Slowking. I've seen people playing Weavile/Ambipom. I've never thought of the 3 of them in the same deck though. The main thought for me is that you're shuffling your forced topdecks away with Ambipom, but your report changed that thought process for me (get rid of the hand and then topdeck lock).

Congrats on winning and do you think that this deck will be able to still be playable after the next comes out due to the release of Pokemon Catcher??

This is awesome man, great job getting sixth place with this deck.
Making a deck that no one expects is something that i really like to try to do, unfortunately i haven't seen much success. I built this deck today and played my friends and it was simply just a lot of fun to see them so mad. I didn't lose once. way to go man, and who cares about catcher? they'll never see it!

Man, awesome good doing so good with a rogue. I had to grab a coke and a snack to read this, awesome report!

That's what I was thinking, but if they are able to get one off, then it's just going to go downhill from there in theory.

is ambipom really better than ursaring prime?
i thought ambipom let your opponent shuffles their deck, so you will lose the ability to lock their topdecks. anyway, it is nice to hear an interesting rogue deck getting high rank in big tournaments :)
well played man xp

If you've read the report, you realize that he used Ambipom to get rid of the cards in his opponents hand and then when the opponent had no hand, he used the Second Sight while attacking with Ambipom's Tail Spank and sniping with Weavile. The deck is extremely good. I built my version based off of yours, but since I'm not going to nationals and I'm just playing around for fun now, I decided that for now a 2-2 Cinccino tech would be fine for some extra muscle in the deck, but after playing some games with it I decided that it could be cut for more consistency cards.
