Hey guys,

New to the TCG comp scene, and this is the first proper deck that I have made,

What can I do to make this deck better?

Pokemon:20
4-3-3 Mareep/Flaaffy/Ampharos (wanting to get a 4th amph off my friend) CL
3-3 Eevee UD/Jolteon CL
2-2 Voltorb/Electrode Prime TM

Trainer/Supporter/Stadium:24
4 Pokemon Communication
3 Prof Elm Training
3 Prof Oak New Theory
2 Energy Exchanger
2 Junk Arm
2 Pokeball
2 Interviewers Questions
2 Life Herb
1 Black Belt
1 Palmers Contribution
1 Research Record
1 Switch (Will remove when I get the 4th amph)

Energy:16
12 :lightning:
2 :colorless::colorless:
2 Rescue

Strategy.
The strategy I plan with this is to use Electrode prime to help get energys if needed, to use with my Jolteon while I set up my amph, Soon as my amph can get 2 engerys from my deck for the cost of one, That can also set either itsself up or my jolteons, also with Interviewers questions if I dont have my amph/electrode set up, I can get those energys as well. Palmers to get any early pokemon losses back into my deck, Energy exchanger to swap out an electric energy for a :colorless::colorless: so that I can stack out amph with :lightning: and :colorless::colorless: for its main attack. Life herb to heal amp if I fail its flip for main attack, and black belt to help me deal 120 damage with amp if im losing in prizes.

Cheers :D

Hm, I'd say instead of just using the regular Ampharos, maybe throw in an Ampharos Prime because it can "spread" damage with it's Poke-Body which puts a damage counter onto a Pokemon when your opponent attaches an energy to it from their hand. Its attack isn't that bad either, able to a possible 80 for 3 energy OR 40 and discard an energy card attached to the defending Pokemon (good bye double colorless and rescue energy).
Other than that, this deck looks really good!

Cool, pretty good for a first deck :D

One thing though: you should get 1-2 Uxies, they really really speed up your set up. Also as wulfboy15 said check out the other Ampharoses, 1 prime (10 dmg on a pokemon whenever the opponent puts down an energy on them) and maybe 1 Ampharos from Platinum (all pokemon with dmg counters are unable to use any poke-powers). So maybe 1 prime + 1 Platinum + 2 CL Ampharoses?

Also I would shift some of your suppoerters to trainers, both because trainers are faster then supporters and because your junk arms are just great when played in a deck with more trainers. Two of those great trainers to have are Luxury Ball (just run 1 of these) and a couple Pokemon Communications.

Thanks for the input so far!

That could be a really good combo with Amph prime and the platinum amph, if both are active, that completely locks the opponent from either attaching energy if they wanna use the poke power (Providing it has no energy on it already) and it would make the opponent think twice about attaching energy.

And 1-2 Uxies after a little bit of research, They really would help set up, as for the trainers, any others I should keep an eye out for? I already have 4 Pokemon Communications, and ill keep a lookout for Luxury ball at the next meet.

Cheers for the help so far though, its given me some interesting ideas.

Well, I hijacked this deck and tweaked it a bit. In the process, I found out that it works MUCH better if you have at least 2 Sunyshore City Gym because it gets rid of the weakness of any Electric Type Pokemon in play and makes it so that their damage isn't affected by Resistance, two things that can be extremely helpful. Another thing I found out is using an Azelf works wonders as well to get out single Pokemon from your Prizes (I.E. Ampharos Prime and Ampharos Platinum)

Awesome, so far I need to

-1 Ampharos CL
+1 Amph Prime
+1 Amph Plat
+1-2 Uxie
+1 Azelf
+2 Sunyshore City Gym

+ more trainers.

Thanks for all your advice, Will take it all in and get my hands on some more cards and give this deck a test! Will report back when ive tested this. Ive used the current deck against my flatmate, and the only thing that stopped me was Celebi Prime (Tm92), which I had to pull out my voltorb and try damage it in 2 turns before he took me out, or used electrode/flaffy to damage his bench. What could I do to try and counter this? I've tryed adding a an extra voltorb and electrode to keep the ratio even, but I found this just slows down my deck.

Well, I can only think of 2 counters off the top of my head.
1 is Kecleon from Rising Rivals. Pros: Can be any type at all. Can abuse Sunyshore City Gym. Has the potential to do a lot of damage.
Cons: Unreliable damage (you have to flip three coins). High energy cost.

second is Rotom from Undaunted.
Pros: Only needs one energy to attack. Has a Dark Weakness instead of a typical Fighting weakness most Electric Pokemon do. Can swap a Prize with the top card of your deck. Damage isn't affected by resistance.
Cons: Damage is based on energy attached to the defending Pokemon. only has 60 HP. Damage isn't affected by weakness.

So there you have it! Personally, I'd choose the Rotom just because if they're using Time Circle, they already have 3 energy on them and can easily be knocked out. Also, Rotom can get your Prizes switched out quickly (a good thing, especially if you use research Record) to avoid dead draws. Also can quickly counter things that hoard energy like Tyranitar, Wailord, and Tangrowth.

Sweet, Thanks for the heads up about Rotom, I never knew about this card, my flatmate runs a Tangrowth deck, so the metagame at my flat, Rotom and Sunyshore Gym makes my deck the best in the flat.

It would be interesting to see how this deck will go at my local club!

Once again, will report back after some games :)

No problem~
Good luck with your matches~ (especially since you should be able to beast quite a few decks now because mostly every deck relies on Poke-Powers)

Played a few more matches now, still minus the changes, all ive done is added a seeker and 1 more black belt for now, till i sort out the extra cards, its working really well, now cant wait to get the extra cards and play with the suggested cards. But the deck is working wonders atm, finally beat the Tangrowth deck at my flat, and took out that celebi with a black belt and voltorb :D

Once I get the extras, will report back!
