hi its me again i am not the best at making Pokemon decks so i always post on this website. Ampharos from Dr Ex has caught my eye. and im thinking of making a deck with him that kind of looks like this:

3-2-3 Ampharos
3-2-1 Manectric (Energy Crush. Energy Assist)
3 Emolga
2 Shaymin EX or/ Tornadus EX

3 Switch
2 Rare candy
3 N
3 Cheren
2 Skyla

4 DCE
8 :lightning: Energy

Suggestions are most appreciated

The problem with Ampharos is that you don't shut down energy against some of the metadecks.
Eelektrik can just use dynamotor to bypass ampharos' ability and Darkrai can do the same with Dark Patch.
Without this main ability working optimal I don't see this deck to good at tournaments ever.

That is why i have Manectric in there, he has free retreat cost, the opponent would be wasting a Pokemon catcher that cant be retrieved (unless Via Sableye) then i could attack next turn with energy crush or Electrobullet

If you're going to run an energy shutdown deck, two things. First off, run the hammers. You want them to continually HAVE to attach energy in order to hurt you. Second thing, don't run the Energy Crush Manectric. If you have Ampharos up, your opponent will be attaching the bare minimum energy. You won't do squat. For a backup attacker, I'd recommend Zebstrika with Disconnect. A T2 Disconnect can really shake up your opponent, buying you enough time to get Ampharos up and running.

I think Ampharos is a cool card, but probably not right for the format we have. The two biggest decks in the format both attach energy from the discard, not their hand.
