Amphy#1's NC Battle Roads Spring Report!!

Allright guys, I'm going to keep this short and sweet. I get there around 12:45 and head back to the middle table to fill out my deck list. At the same time I was greeted by some of my league members who made the trip up. Then, I turn in my sheet and wait for parings.

Round 1 Lanturn/Gatr vs Kindra Prime with Donphan tech
At the beginning he thinks he's going to lose because his Fighting Energy was prized. But then his Kingdras came out and saved it for him. Those 3 primes on the bench pinging me for damage was brutal. And I couldn't get rid of the old one. I also made a misplay, where I could have KO'd the old one. I should have Rain Danced the extra Water Energy in my hand to one of my Pokemon to get the KO, but I didn't add the damage right.

Round 2 Lanturn/Gatr vs Machamp
I got donked and did not play down my Uxie from my hand to save me.

Round 3 Lanturn/Gatr vs Crobat Prime
I got set up and destroyed him. I hated doing it because he was a new player, but I was in need of a win. He's was a nice guy too.

Round 4 Lanturn/Gatr vs T-Tat Prime

Round 5 Lanturn/Gatr vs Blastoise/Gatr/Floatzel
This was a really good game. I got out my stuff, and he got out his. His Pokemon kept going back to his hand when I KO'd them. Then he played them back down with BTS. I couldn't get rid of BTS to save my life. Manetric protected me from getting sniped on by Blastoise, and I had his weakness in check. Time was called. and I was up on prizes 2-4.

-talking to some of my friends from NC/SC
-trading for the stuff that I needed

Slops:
-getting donked on by Machamp
-loosing 2 strait at the beginning
-got nothing during the raffle

All in all, my deck did well considering most people were playing fun decks for the most part.

Hate that I missed it, also hate that I'll have to miss the remainder of them as well...also, I have been working on a Kingdra Prime Donphan deck myself...except I'm using 4 Kingdra Primes since I don't have any of the old Kingdra.
 
^^ No, I didn't chicken out. I found out during testing that they did not work together like I thought. I should have taken out the DCE's and relied more on Amphy's attack to set it up. Besides, I can't play with Ampharos all the time. Plus using it with Gatr is pretty broken.
 
I know, but if I were the "the Prinplupking", everyone would expect me to win with Empoleon all the time. I am MCA3, I win with what beats the meta, I have no choice;)

So...win with Amphy, like you are suppose to!

Seriously... If he doesn't wanna play Ampharos, he doesn't have to play Ampharos. Why is it such a big deal?

Anyways, cool idea, Amphy! I liked how much creativity I saw at Cornelius.
 
Amphy can win and it would have done well if I played it. I spent most of last season playing it at premiere events. It deserves a nice rest. Who knows, I might play it at the next one.

mca3, I see what you're saying. I've had so much fun playing Amphy. It was my favorite Pokemon even before the cards came out. Then defending it on the gym trying to make people see it's potential was the driving force of my life for a while. After that, anyone on the gym would expect me to play it at tourneys.

I guess I'm just like everyone else. When different stuff comes out in the new sets, I have to try them out. I will always love my baby (Amphy)though. :smile:
