I don't know how many people I've shown this article to as a means of helping them spot fakes better but I'm so happy it's here.
However, my friend n' I have a chunk of fakes that aren't listed here that are made in mexico n' commonly sold at the indoor swapmart just down the street from me. They are extremely obvious fakes that have a myriad of giveaways to the fakeness:
*Their printed on the WORST cardboard stock I've ever seen for anything other than the poorest quality of baseball cards from the early 80's. Very shoddy medium.
*The cards have no rounded edges, they are quite pointy.
*The 'artwork' on each card looks like a very bad remake of whatever pokemon is supposed to be on the card and the colors are terrible to begin with. I would be happy to post pictures of a few if anyone is interested, I don't wanna jumble up the thread with huge picture posts. ^^'''
*the copyright info at the bottom is dated 2006, i think. Some of the fakes in this bunch are ugly copies from emerald, which I think came out around '04-05, right? Their also labeled Ninfendo.
*The card types......wow, I don't even know how to go about telling you, they're soo horridly off, perfect example: A brown salamence with a fire symbol on an orange card.
*pokemon names are soooo....not pokemon names. Exceptional titles include: Compoundeye moth, Flying mantis, kerato empress, voice king and Yugwara.
*......and probably the best of the bunch is a "sableye" that has nothing in the way of sableye on the card but something rather obsecne involving psyduck and bulbasaur. I'm not kidding.
There is a shop in one of the malls I live near (metrocenter) that sells a steady amount of fake DP cards, they even sell fake Yu-gi-oh & Digimon cards. Because of this place and the swapmarts in my area, I see a pretty high amount of fake cards coming thru the saturday league I help run. We try to tell people as much as possible that they should stay away from the fake stuff but a lot of the new kids we get seem to have almost nothing but fakes. :nonono: *Sigh*
