I have 0 cp. If I played in this it would just be to knock someone out.
The online results have been posted at pokemon.com, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that despite the above statement, there was indeed 1 play point awarded for participation in the tournament. (Though in theory that's not a good idea, because then the tournament could attract some players who are close to the top 100 and are only interested in playing to get the 1 play point.)
Some people have gotten their CP from the tournament online and some haven't, so they may still be juggling around how it's handled; I wouldn't assume that's final. (Notably to me, I don't yet have the CP that should get me my invite.
I'll open a support ticket if it's still the case in a day or two; I assume the folks who work on this also need to get home and go through their back email like I did this morning.)
