Reshiram
Zekrom
Emboar
Cinccino
Zoroark
Juniper
Communication

...And those are just the cards that will see heavy play.

In the box I opened, I got both full arts, Pikachu, and 2 of each Ability Starter along with 3 Cinccino and 3 Mandibuzz. I guess Im just lucky?

We finally get another good set with very little wrong with it and everyone needs to complain? You guys should be freaking celebrating that this isn't CoL #2.

In terms of the rarity reprints, I do agree that seemed to be a bit of a cop out (I hate how a card slot is potentially lost due to some lame junk Energy cards). But in terms of new Pokemon that are decent to use, plus the horrible aftertaste of CoL, BW is definitely better lol.

Call Of Legends is a great set...
Had:
Lost Remover
Ninetales
Smeargle
Lost World
Tangrowth
Umbreon
Cleffa
Research Documents
Prof Oaks New Theory

I'm hoping for a CoL and on format for next format...

I've had nothing but fantastic pulls with this set, both on the collection frot and on the developing meta front. This set has so much to offer, though some of it may be a bit subtle.

Bolded stuff that are reprints.
Italicized stuff that aren't actually good.
You're left with two cards. Lost Remover's usefulness is debatable.

I'm assuming you mean Tangrowth and Cleffa.
Have you even tried them before? Especially in a HGSS-on format they're great.

Opened up 2 Reshiram tins today.

Pulled 13 rares, 1 of which was shiny pikachu, another the full artwork zekrom. Also pulled 3-4 holo's, two of which were ability pokemon (klinklang, emboar), and a bunch of reverses including another klinklang, zekrom, and madibuzz. Not to mention a juniper, and a communication. Oh yeah, two of those really nice energy too!

So yeah, feeling pretty good about this set so far...

Tangrowth, Cleffa, and Research Record.
Good luck running Tangrowth in a fire-dominated format.

Not to argue tangrowth is a great card, but:

1. If you have 120 or less HP it doesn't really matter what type you are.

2. Grass pokemon have a way to counteract their weakness to fire via Metapod HGSS.

1. It does matter. Emboar OHKOs you if you're 2x Fire weak.
2. Once Catcher comes out, Metapod won't be viable.

looking forward to the later sets tho...Dark has some nice looking Pokes in the new Pokedex

i think boxes r worthless. u buy a box for like what almost $100 and u only get close to making ur money if u pull every single good card out of it. singles r the best way to go

Re: Super Rares being reprints of Rares -- Why is this a bad thing? This is the perfect way to do them, imo. Everybody wins in that situation. If you're someone who doesn't care how cards look and just want them for functionality, then you get the easier to pull and therefore cheaper (these ones are even in tins!) versions. If you're someone who cares about the aesthetics (I fall into this camp), you get a sweet looking card that shows a bit of ballerness by being the rarer version of something. As long as these cards are somewhat playable and aren't just junk filling a set (ala COL), I don't see why this is a bad thing at all. If Zekrom and Reshi were only printed as supers, people would just complain that they were too hard to pull.

Re: Black & White being a bad set: This is kind of silly. I don't think it's right to talk about how we should all be thankful that it's not another COL as I don't think that's the correct attitude to have at all. However, this is a pretty sicks set no matter how you look at it. Emboar, Reshiram, Zekrom, Samurott, Zoroark, Reuniclus, Cincinno, Bouffalnt, Juniper, Communication, and Revive are all cards that are either tier one playable tier two playable, or are interesting enough cards that they have the ability to someday become t1/t2 playable. In addition, Donphan, Donphan/Machamp, Magnezone variants, Feraligatr variants, and probably a few decks I'm forgetting get better with the release of this set. Plus, even if you're not looking just purely at the cards in the set, and want to discuss outside factors: there are only 2 supers and one secret, meaning the set is easy to collect. All of the tins and whatnot come with all BW packs and actual playable cards (Reshi, Zekrom, Zoroark), which is a fantastic value. The reverse foil has also been improved. I've really got nothing bad to say about this set.

Re: Call of Legends -- This also isn't a bad set for new players or players that otherwise don't have some of the good cards in it. It also does us the favor of keeping good cards like Smeargle, Cleffa (this card is good, and if you can't see that you need to play more HS-on), Ninetales, PONT, Copycat, Elm, Dual Ball, and Sage's Training in the format for longer than they would normally be. Lost World and Lost Remover are also good cards, and those foil energy are sick as.

This is where I disagree with you.

Call of Legends is tacked on at the end of the HGSS block. It isn't a part of the BW block. This means that if all of HGSS is rotated out, CoL is going to go with it. We're not going to see a CoL-on format.

Now if Call of Legends came out after BW2, I could see your point, but I really think TPCi is going to just mush CoL with HGSS when they do their spring (or fall) cleaning.

The only reason TPCi reprinted cards for CoL is because they didn't have enough new cards to justify a whole new set. That is the same exact reason why they reprinted the Shinies within the same set as foils with alternative art, even though they were completely horrible cards.

All CoL ended up being was a filler set for TPCi, so that they could release BW later, and perhaps also to postpone Lost World which "miraculously" didn't destroy the game like everyone thought it would.

I believe we'll probably see another filler set next. TPCi's actions with moving some good cards out of BW is so similar to their actions with Triumphant. Like others have set, there are plenty of BW stuff we can get like promos and stuff and I'm sure if TPCi reprints some BW stuff (hey, they reprinted triumphant stuff in CoL), they can come up with another 99 card set.

rant over.
