You need to read and read then read and follow the set up instructions. Then you'll see how to get started.

If you're going to play people online, I recommend you have people you contact on AIM (pm them for their IDs).

Going to IRC & #pojo, well, if its like it used to be, first thing is someone will steal your ID, then you will have to endure a lot of folks talking in detail about their fantasies while you wait for someone to come online who actually wants to play a game of PKMN. Basically, if you like braggarts, crude language & immature tricks go to an IRC channel, even a popular PKMN one, like #pojo.

If you do decide to go on IRC, be prepared for as much reading and configuration as you did to get apprentice running in order to deal on IRC with the basics of getting around and keeping people from spoofing you and locking you out of your account.

Apprentice is cool, IRC is a wasteland. #pojo is not like battling face to face where people are cool 'cuz they're in a room with a lot of the most mature & smartest people in their age group and they don't want to be embarrassed by acting the fool in front of better and more experienced players. IRC is pretty much anything goes.

If you're going to challenge people with your deck online, get their AIM IDs instead. Also, make sure your computer is patched with all the security fixes, your operating system is up to date and you have a firewall running. It was really hilarious to log on and see people from the IRC get my IP address and pull a scan for my system's vulnerabilities (which would drop their route to my computer).

Apprentice is a good way to learn and esp. to learn the weakness of your strategy BECAUSE your opponent is free to have the worlds greatest deck or their trickiest combos without the heavy expense for the cards. Some people try to act the fool on apprentice, too. Just hit exit and leave 'em hanging if they curse you out or try to put you down. People should be cool whether they are online or in a group face to face.

Ive tried it before and I tried it now.This kind of weird squiggly star thing is there and it's just this kind of arena thing when I go into it.I can't get the pokemon patch.
