The matchup against Blissey isn't as bad as many people think. Using three different Garchomp variants (one with Delcatty, one with Weavile and one with Togekiss/Claydol), I played four times against Blissey decks at Cities and States, and I won all of the matches, even if one was very close.

Holon FF is still a problem, but not all Blissey variants play it, and if they do, Garchomp still does good damage. The other problem is Darkrai since sleep is deadly to Garchomp. Togekiss can deal with Blissey quite well, so vs Blissey is one of the few matchups you shouldn't concentrate on only Garchomp as hitter.

I would say matchup is 45-55 or 40-60 if they play Holon FF or Darkrai, else 50-50 or better.

Seeing that statement about starters in the post above, I want to add that anything in the Garchomp deck is a useable starter. Gible is the worst but it's annoying the opponent's starters, Baltoy can draw cards, Togepi can search Pokémon with a some luck or send the oppenent to sleep. But I still recommend to put Pachirisu in since you need many basics on your bench early.

The point is, why would you have more of an evolution that you are only going to get to use once? It's useless. You don't wonder why people only run 1-1 or 2-2 lines?
 
I know exactly why. Theres this really important thing in the Pokemon TCG called 'Consistency'. This is EXACTLY like playing a 1-1 line. Only guess what? *GASP* I can consistently have it because theres a lower chance of my Evolution of being prized.

Well, I had the (mis)fortune of battling 3 Magmotar decks. I beat 2, but I misplayed and lost to one of them. Overall, just annoying with the healing factor, otherwise they'd be easy to kill.
 
Thanks everybody for expressing your opinions, both positive and negative :biggrin: I have a different outlook on the matter now. My outlook? The fun of playing out-weighs the negative of having to play some of the same decks. Actually, I think I'm going to make the best GG/Mag counter EVAR! Then I can have the added fun of watching everybody's faces drop just like their Pokemon! :thumb:

Anyway, thanks for posting. I've decided to look at the glass as half-full instead of half-empty!
 
Yes, its annoying, but this format basicly has this rule,
cant beat 'em, Join em

So either find a good deck to beat them (Which i have) or run one of them

You don't need to play a counter to beat them. Just play something that has a decent matchup against both and outplay them.
 
You are forgotten the reason for the electipwner has post. He explain how the less of imagination does boring the game. How Many G&G and Mag decks are in yours areas? too much as I see.

What is the purpose of the game: Win with yours owns strategies and ideas (originals decks) or Win with a deck list for internet?. That is the question.

For example, I build a deck with pidgeot and donphan for disrupt the attack of the opponent. I win 1 tournament and go in 3 Place 2 times. The times that i was 3rd I was defeated with a magmortar deck and a infercatty deck, equals l to those I see in this and others pkmn webs. This is sickness.

I was not how important it is for you to win, but copying others decks ideas you kill the real spirit of the game: create yours OWN strategic and win with that. . If the list that you create are simmilar to other, that doesn't matter because you think simmilar to the other player, but create a metagame only for win that is boring and kills the creativity.

We will most likely have to wait till next format untill we can get some really good new stuff .Just be happy it is not Yu-Gi-Oh where thing don't get rotaed out and were stuck with it.

Also it is no ones falt for playing the deck just because they want to win They are not killing the game PUI is.I frown upon the people who frown upon G/G and magmortor users.
 
On one hand, it makes playing certain cards impposible, that would flourish if GG or Mag wasn't so common. Many pokemon are reserved for binders that would **** if people had more originality. On the other hand, it makes countering a meta game rather simple. It's still a shame to see soo many of them though :( I could do with a little more rogue or older archtypes like Hurricane, Mario, Inferncatty, Monarchy ect.
 
I also hate that GG and Mortar are as dominating the format....

X2 had a serious flaw that couldnt be worked out..... RIP

However, "THE ANSWER" will show you all this weekend gg and mortar will no longer dominate...

Um... you do realize that people play G&G and Magmortar because they are good decks?
And I do hope you also realize that the combo of Gardevoir and Gallade as well as Magmortar and Typhlosion is kinda obvious? Just because ppl play it doesn't mean that they are net decking, its just a good easy to figure out combo. :rolleyes:

You know ... THAT would be great reality TV. Put a bunch of sports stars in a room and instead of Poker have them master and play Pokemon....
