new rules, new cards, it's not easy to get in

this should get most new or returning players started

staple trainers:
tv reporter (DR)
celio's network (FRLG)
steven's advice (HL)
rare candy (SS)
pokemon retriever (TRR)

not so staple but nice to have
any of the following gyms: mt. moon (FRLG), desert ruins (HL), ancient tomb(HL),
Mr. Briney's compassion(DR)
ATM Rock(HL)
Pokemon Reversal(various sets)

all purpose pokemon:
dunsparce(SS)
pidgey/pidgeotto/pidgeot (FRLG)(okay, not staple but most competitive decks use it)
promo eevee (just kidding, old joke if any of you remember)

* * * Reminises * * * Ahhh the good ole days of Qaulifiers and STS's driving 8 hours to go to a qualifier to top 16 and get knocked out first round by Sneasel/Slowking ^_^ The good ole days

a) How much does a standard archytype usually cost to create (usually for magic it's around $250-300).

Blaziken is the most expensive, probably around $90.

b) How many decks switch from archype to "jank" after a rotation?

Pretty much all of them

c) What are the best tournaments to play in-in order to win bulk in cards to increase the pool (and how often are they held)?

Anything that's a premier event. They're held all the time.

e) What are the price ranges now for cards? (back in the day i remember cards never exceded around $14 for a rare)

Ya $14 is basically tops.

f) Once again, any sites with reasonable prices that GUARANTEE the purchase of the product?

No there are absolutely no sites with cheap prices at all. All online stores are just there to rip you off. Ebay is the only reasonably priced one.

Thanks vene, sounds like there's no easy way to go around doing this, lol. shoot, but i knew those questions would have answers like that. I really appreciate your honesty and help!

FeraligatrWelcome back Eric !!! It was great seeing your dad at the East Coast Stadium back in July. Here are a couple of web sites I sometimes use to purchase cards. Hope to see you at a future event.

Hey Feral! It's good to hear from ya! You guys in NC right? If my memory does me justice. How ahve you guys been? How is your son? I appreciate the sites im checking them out now and then the last one after my 15pg term paper! Thanks so much for the help!

MichelWow, Brooks family is back

Welcome back Eric. I'm happy to see you here and know your dad is gonna play too.

Michel, it is an HONOR to hear from you again. How is it going on the other side of the pond? Does your daughter still play? How is pokemon in europe? How have YOU been? It's great to see so many repsectable and Gatr-school (old-school) players still around!

SquirtleHey eric long time no talk. You prolly don't remermber me. We used tot alk on AIM all the time. (Mysteryman1825) I amn back from the old STS days. l little better though. Listen drop me a line on AIM . I'd like to tlk.

ArticJedi, ill talk to you on IM also, thanks for all the help MUCH appreciated!

Who are the top players these days and how is pokemon stabalizing in other countries? Also, if i were to buy packs, what set would i want to buy from? Also, HOW many sets are out now and how many rotate out at once, is it still 3? and if so, when will the next rotation take place and which sets will rotate? Thanks to everyone for all their kind help! Wizpog still has the quality :).

Next rotation is most likely, from what I heard from Mike, going to be FR/LG on. That's his guess right now. But we don't actually know right now. He said he doesn't want more that 10 sets in the format at a time. But he starts a rotation usually after worlds. So after worlds 2005 we should know for sure what the next one will be. Also if you'd like to talk to me, I'm on Yahoo, AIM doesn't work for me. I'm also back from old days. You'll find me at darkvast666 on yahoo. I have more info if ya need it. Just ask.

yea...it's not going to be the sames without MTM and DMTM =/...
But hey, at least the old player base is still around - that's couning for something!

ahhh... its good to have ya back Mr Brooks, i think maybe PokeOrder.com could have stuff you might want.
I'd check to make sure, hope this works...

"Who are the top players these days"

More people stand out than in the olden days. Top players include the people at the NS board, people not at NS but Neo that aren't just considered "worthy" or something, and several lesser-known players that are of the same playing calibur, just not as good or creative when it comes to building decks.

"and how is pokemon stabalizing in other countries?"

Mmm, it's looking good, 'though not as good as Japan or the US. For extremely different opinions, ask Freddy K and Lia Van Bemmelen what they think-you'll get two completely different answers.

"Also, if i were to buy packs, what set would i want to buy from? Also, HOW many sets are out now and how many rotate out at once, is it still 3? and if so, when will the next rotation take place and which sets will rotate?"

First off, there are 7 I think, plus the reprinted cards and the nintendo promos. The best sets to buy from would probably be Ruby/Sapphire and Fire Red/Leaf Green, since those are the "core" sets, and have the most good cards out of any of the 7 sets. Rotations are similar to olden times, and I'm guessing that the next rotation could either be Aqua/Magma on, or Red/Green on.

Have fun y0 ;x

Why do you think you're low-rank, super t-tar? That confidence will get you nowhere! =(

Not to hijack the topic, but everyone loves you, super t-tar. so stop whining ;x

Yeah i rank in the low rank, i wish i was better, but Pokemon is doing great and i think it will get better^^!!

i should smack u for saying that! you were very good back in the day and i assume the same now. ;)

so there is no longer like one dominate elite group anymore? (i.e-SoCal at one point, then the Ohio krew)

Wow, well thanks for the complaments Mr Brooks and Kettler, but how did you now about me Eric, but no there is no dominate group now, its all sorts of groups now, everyone is getting good nowadays.
