Base-Challenge Decks

In light of the tournament tonight, I came up with a question. Back in the days of Base set through Gym Challenge, what were the best decks? I wasn't playing back then, and wondered what I should play tonight. This isn't meant as a Build-Me-A-Deck thread, but just more of a deck discussion thread. Any help will be appreciated!

It was probably Haymaker and Wigglytuff, but I can't say for sure. There's a good chance that Rain Dance was also being used in good numbers as well.

Anyway just a guess.

Haymaker, Wigglytuff, and then with Challenge, Sponge. There was also this Trapper deck, and Dark Golbat saw some play too.
