Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Battle Road Autumn 2008 - OREGON Locations

^You owe my for making you play Froslass (and borrowing my Uxie lv.X which i kinda wish i had right now).

Looking forward to bringing my record to 1-X this weekend! Stupid forced win via bye >.> Brs give you like no points man (or no negative points in my case). I'll be like a frieght train from **** at Regionals though!

lol THANKS ANDREW <3 I think your ranked second to last in Oregon, WOOOOOT!

I got second place today with Torterra! 4 out of my 5 games were against fire decks lol. I had a lot of fun and I think the event went verry well. Thanks to Chris, June and Jason for running the tournament.

See you all next week in Corvallis.

Wow, a great day for Salem! Master finals are still going on as I type this, but I can fill everyone in on the rest of the details.

2nd: Maddox P.

In Juniors:
1st: Jozef
2nd: Gabe M.

Sweet, two Salem players each made second in today's BR. Way to go guys.

On a side note, Mr. Raichu played in today's DS tournament. Nice to see him play with us for a change. Next time I hope to see him in the finals.

Just wait till next time my young friend... Had a great time today. Thanks to BDS, Jon & Peter for running the show. Nice job guys

Many many many congrats to Rocket_Zatch who, after playing for less then a month and a half, made top cut with Magmortar in a heavily Kingdra dominated Battle Roads at Salem!

Help me, help me, help me!!!! My ego is causing my head to SWELL sooo much that I'm having trouble getting into the house. All I need is for someone to beat me in Salem to bring me back to so called "normal". lol See everybody in Salem :thumb:

First, Chris...uhh, 3-3???? Heck, even I got to beat you today!

Second, congrats to Rocket_Zatch , representing southern oregon big time! We had the
most epic match I've ever played in the 6th round to decide who'd go on to the finals, what a
weekend, great job everybody! I expecially liked our Southern Players invading Salem territory and
coming away with 3rd, 6th, and 7th.

Now back to school...uhg, why can't we just play pokemon some more. @_@

uhh, Jason, can you be a little more specific for those of us that can't read between the lines? Who was first, second, third, fourth, 6th & 7th like you mentioned. Thanks.

p.s. sounds like everyone had a fun time.

Sorry, I wasn't running the tournament, so I didn't take the time to write down the names...@_@
Hopefully someone will post it soon, but for the Masters Janet and Mr. Rocket Zatch lost to those
two brothers, who's name's have slipped my mind. And honestly, I didn't stay to see who won
between them. Sorry I can' tbe more specific.

I got sixth and shuckle got seventh though.

Man, Kingdra is a beast. My MagKiss was in Top 4 running and we lost to a T1-Kingdra donk, having only one poor little Magmar in play. Grats to Janet, who once again beats me. (Maybe I'll make an electric deck just to beat her for once.)
Grats to Zatch for Top-4 with Magmortar! Shows that it's definitely still a deck to be reckoned with. I have so much fun with mine and would hate to have to decide between having fun with the deck vs. playing competitively.
Wouldn't have made it down to Salem at all, of course, without the most generous offer of a ride from Cory Cox, so serious props to him. Then he drove me back to Hillsboro and when the ATMs were all closed, he gave me $2 for the bus back to campus! Amazing. He even offered to wait at the bus stop with me, as it was dark and raining. Seriously give the man high fives or something, because he went above and beyond the call to help out a fellow player.

As far as deck reviews go.. I don't have a good enough memory to remember people's names, their decks, and specifically what I had trouble with, at least if I don't write it down, so I'll just go with generals:
  • John L played a clever Nosepass deck, and I'd never run into it before. Metal energies absorbing damage was completely unexpected; then, he got Armaldo into play right after I accidentally knocked out my most powered-up Magmortar on his fossil's Jagged Stone (yes, Magmortar got knocked out by a fossil... >>; ), but luckily I had another one partially powered -- and burn damage isn't from an attack. I could see a Nosepass / Wormadam Trash Cloak / Armaldo-as-a-tank deck. I enjoy playing against John because he always has an unexpected deck that I personally would never have even thought of. For example, at Regionals he had Gastrodons / something I forget, and it really came out of nowhere.
  • Froslass. In general. It was good, and I liked the attacks (well, not so much when being used against Magmortar); however, it didn't have that many hit points, and if my weakness let me survive I could generally OHKO them with Magmortar, or two-hit them with Togekiss. Destiny Bond was a good attack, but nobody ever used it; you can probably switch out of it (I think?), like Jirachi's Doom Desire. I actually beat Ben C playing Froslass, and then sat there in a daze for about a minute, unable to believe it and staring at where my prize cards had been. I pretty much went into that game expecting to lose.
  • Kingdra. If you get the cards, it's fast and hits hard for practically nothing. So you have to discard. Oh well. I like this deck as well, and actually in general I'm really excited about the variety of decks that people have been playing. I think Froslass was the only deck I was up against twice, as opposed to Regionals where I hit a Gastrodon, two or three Gardilades, and a Magmortar or two. Players are going to have to be so much more creative.

Anyway, really long post. Had a ton of fun, and, as requested, Raichu's ego is once again small enough to fit into his house. Always happy to help~
Might be going to Portland for Saturday's BR. :D
