Beating AMU

Well
Getting back in the game and started to test some matches, and kept having problems beating AMU, its actually good!

Tested with Kindra, Gliscor, etc. But none have good match ups, Magmortar is good, but comes off a little short when the whole 200 a turn starts.

Opinions?

AMU has problems when something gets setup and starts OHKOing them faster than they can keep stuff in play. The hard part is setting up. A strong Bronzong line in a counter-deck is also hard for them to deal with 3 Zongs in a row adds up to a lot of damage ... they can heal with Mesprit ... but he doesn't heal himself and they aren't dealing damage while they do that.

STOP TRYING TO SHARE WAYS TO BEAT AMU !!!

I want to WIN !!!

Just kidding... (but, really... don't be revealing any groundbreaking tips that buries me!)

Hey, what is the AMU list that you're testing against? That would kinda help me help you..

The basic line of Pokemon with Palkia.

I know you can build something to beat AMU, but that can also have a decent match vs. the other decks.

I am going to try Magmortar-Leafeon this Sunday at the BR (unless I change my deck option), will post results.

If you're playing Stage2, then 1-0-1 Dusknoir is your tech. In Kingdra, you could fit Dusknoir and Regice. As AMU needs a bench of at least 3 (I don't believe in benches of 2 with AMU if you're aiming for that 200 per turn), Dusknoir might really limit them. If the bench is bigger, shuffle the Lv.X which doesn't have basic in the bench already. This way, you'll be blocking 200 for a while.

In Gliscor, you shouldn't have problems if you're playing Mr. Mime. If they ever get a pokémon with 3 energies up and running, you can easily drop it with well-placed Lv.X and Pester. If they are playing Palkia, your strategy would be to utilize the fact they are using their only possible retreat to get Palkia active, and choose what to bring up accordingly.

And then you have Mewtwo Lv.X. I've yet to see a decisive counter against that in AMU. Just save the 120 for a big one/counter and keep hitting Psyburn for 60.

And yeah, Bronzong and Luxray mentioned, but they're more of a basis of the deck than tech lines.

there are alot of ways to beat amu number one

Dusknoir ing there mesprit with 2 energys and koing the mestprit level x is amazing how much it will cripple them.

Playing swithces so they cant stall your kingdra out with palkia level x

Luxray just beat up amu and has an decent matchup against kingdra.

Forget Regice, the AMU basically gets Pokemon reversal every turn, its ether with warp point, switch or their active got KO.
They get your Regice active and star sniping your bench with Azelf.
Mewtwo is good, but I think that for the Battle Roads every AMU player will have at least one solution in their deck. I know I would, just imagine how frustrating it would be if you don't.

Thanks for your thoughts.

It's not hard at all to spread deck to beat AMU. Bronzong still's much better than Yanmega because there's deoxys and AMU , both archetype have pokepower and double weakness to psychic, make for 20-30 damage spread every turn.
You need to counter snowpoint temple with other stadium too, you can use moonlight stadium since their weakness already double and it give 0 retreat cost to bronzong.
Oh and I used cresselia lv.x too, move one damage counter to full hp Uxie and just moonskip for 80 damage, easy two prize.
My prime target is Azelf from the start because of his psychic aura(make psychic have no weakness).

Some tech that people use in deck are mightyena(actually good enough to make his own deck) and mewtwo lv.x.

There's machamp's drop from next set too.

Mewtwo Lv. X with Unown G. People can test all of their techs against Mewtwo, but in the end, it will still slow you down, and most only run 1-1 lines of the tech. If you pull out the Mewtwo or two of them, you will overpower their tech easily.

OK. You do not beat AMU... AMU beats itself. MAN I made some QB GROSSMAN sized mistakes today!

Just set up ... keep setting up... and wait for it. lol

At least that's how things happen to me at Battle Roads today.

I either PULVARIZED someone, or I had SO MANY OPTIONS to make, that I made bad choices and gave them a break (inadvertantly).

Luxray vs. Me (amu-ish) = down to last prize w/ 5 mins left in 40 min round... I didn't retreat the tech and gave up the prize. Yes, MespritX was loaded on bench ready to go! (grrr!)

G & G (Time for Pain was playing it ... woooo man!) = down to 2 prizes and put the DARN UXIE down to draw - forgot about the darn PLOX attack and wasted the drop... no draw.... full bench = mowin' down the pixies.

Torterra vs. me = Last round. I'm tired. 3rd turn had Mesprit X , dropped Azelf - flipped prizes... wrote down on paper but FORGOT TO TAKE OUT THE UXIE X ??!! ...dude... i'm just sitting there with Mesprit X and Azelf X w/o a prayer.
Dude's got two Torterra w/ Sceptile. Finally able to snipe a basic off the bench and get the UxieX from prizes, but too little too late man ... I blew that...

Other two matches. I was focused.. .played it well.. easy wins.

So... 2 - 3 ... me vs. me.... they win.

I believe tommorrow will be much better though. Now that I've played the deck under a little bit of pressure and against some great players. (you KNOW VA is BEASTIN' this right? .. .so 2- 3 ain't as bad as you think ;)

Luxray, Mewtwo, Magmortar, Kingdra, Empoleon basicly anything that can spread some damage or hit hard can kill AMU easily. I found that picking on the same poke until he dies off does the trick. I played AMU for about 2 weeks until I really seen the weakness in this deck. either that or like rogue archtype above let them choose themselves into a hole.

Empoleon doesnt beat AMU. :/

If you run it with bronzong then the matchup is probably about 50/50.

yeah but what decks can tech mewtwo in to actually attack more than once, the only way for it to be a threat is to base a deck around it and there's no consistent way to build it, or none worth playing just to beat AMU, i don't even think that deck has taken off, this early in the season it's not going to be spammed like gardy

i say play a deck off of this list that is the most comfortable and can be made to beat other decks:

froslass, gliscor, kindra, mag/leaf,

scorpio can win like 45 percent of the time but finishing a game using gliscor is like pulling teeth, kind of like AMU lol

mewtwo isn't a viable option IMO, 3 energy for 120 is kind of bad and it's the one thing every amu is prepared to handle,
