Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Bobby Malec! Your 2006-2007 11-14 World Champion!!!

Wow who called that...

apparently God, since he decided to start me with holon's magnemite and other various bad cards. I had the matchups vs ambush in top 8, and jeremy, and the speed empoleon in finals.

/sour grapes

Anyways the deck was definately NOT a "mess" seeing as every card has a purpose. Meganium and Metagross are simply AMAZING attackers, not to mention great types and the ability to speed up your setup even more. Top 16 gave me the ONLY bad hands I saw all weekend. MMS was SO good, I hate the magnemite and 6 energy. But I had fun and I get to drive like 2 hours for the grinder so oh well :D

His deck is absolutely not a mess. Mike Pramawat and Chris Bianchi took 1st and 2nd with it at Southeast regionals. MMS has gotta be one of the top 3 under the radar and/or flat out underrated decks ever.

I heard Bobby started with Holon's Magnemite/6 Energy in game 2.
I wouldve thrown that hand right back into my deck and said "no base"

Bobby is going to win an invite next year, of course. Don't think age groups are slowing him down.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

By the way, has anyone else ever Top16d three consecutive years (Top 10, really)?

I think Bobby's the only one.

Impossible, isn't it? 2004, 2005, miss in 2006, then 2007?
* but I don't think he did it in 05, did he? I can't remember.
I know he didn't make worlds '06...
So the only way he could get FOUR would be if he did it in '02.
Even if he did three, that would make it Yamato ad Bobby (unless there's someone else)--which is pretty impressive.

Yamato didnt make it out of the grinder in '06. If you recall, PUI asked him to set up a challenge table, which he gladly did. Dave S. paid him back by dropping a case of product to him in the open play room late sunday evening, while the "elite 4" had their challenge area set up. The japanese immediately thanked PUI and then went on to do drafts with their friends, to share in the unexpected windfall.

Yamato's quick profile:

Worlds 04-World Champ
Worlds 05-Top 8
Worlds 06-7-2 in the Grinder, DNQ for Worlds
Worlds 07-3rd place
6 or 7-time Japanese National Champion

So Yamato's done it three times, but not in a row.
Jeremy has obviously done it twice.
Big chuck has done it 37,000 times.
Anyone else?
