Box of Fail's Georgia Marathon

Box of Fail

Hey guys, sorry this is so late. Writing a report sure takes a long time...

So Henry and I make it to Georgia on Christmas Eve, equipped with all the splendid options of a carry-on bag assembled the night before. Our flight is delayed by three hours due to some mechanical problems, but we are lucky to be honest. Our house back in Massachusetts is buried in snow; had we made the trip a day or two later, we would have faced a huge probability of cancellation.

Of course, this is one of my favorite parts – upon arrival we head over to the Georgia Aquarium, which happens to be the world’s largest. It also happens to be the only aquarium in North America to house whale sharks. Being a fish freak, those are pretty amusing days for me.

Statesboro 12/26

The first tournament is in Statesboro, GA. I guess they nixed the Alabama dates from last year. I show up and play my Magnezone switch deck, expecting lots of Gyarados. After all, I won’t let myself play Archetypes (and Gyarados is terrible anyways). I see some familiar faces – Justin & Grant W., Treavor C., Khi P., Harrison L., as well as Zach & Josh M. from worlds. And of course GrandDaddy who is running the thing! Always nice to see people that you know. Anyways, down to business!

List:

Pokémon: 24

4 Spiritomb AR
2 Magnezone SF (Super Connectivity)
2 Magnezone Prime
3 Magneton SF (M)
1 Magneton TM
4 Magnemite SF
2 Manectric PL
2 Electrike PL
2 Uxie LA
1 Regice LA
1 Lucario GL

Trainers/ Supporters/ Stadiums: 22

4 Bebe’s Search
4 Pokémon Collector
4 Judge
3 Pokémon Reversal
3 Expert Belt
2 Looker’s Investigation
1 Broken Time-Space
1 Palmer’s Contribution

Energy: 14

5 Lightning
4 Call
4 DCE
1 Warp

So as the pairings go up I’m wondering what I will play, but the turnout for this tournament is not so high, so I just go for Magnezone.

R1 VS ? w/ random deck
This is sort of depressing…playing a new player is never any good for either party.
1-0

R2 VS Treavor C. w/ Luxchomp
By turn five I get a Magnezone up using Gyro Ball and knocking stuff out, plus a Prime for drawpower. I Reversal up a Garchomp with a DCE and kill it, and I have a Manectric guarding my bench. GG
2-0

R3 VS Spencer G. w/ Luxchomp
A slew of Gyro Balls while keeping the Spiritomb lock wins this game. He Bright Looks my Magnezone but is unable to knock it out, and that seals it. GG
3-0

R4 VS Josh M. w/ Kingdra
Spiritomb keeps him out of options, and after I Regi Move for the T3 knockout on Horsea, it is basically over.
4-0

T2 VS Josh M. w/ Kingdra
Game one: I miss the Tomb start and go first. He dumps thousands of trainers and finds Instant Kingdra mix in his deck. Although he pulls off a very strong early game, the tide shifts in my favor once I pull the energy. My Gyro Balls proceed to decimate his Kingdras and I just barely pull this off – my Manectric guards my bench from Dragon Pump, which also helps greatly. 1-0
Game two: I open double Tomb, then topdeck a third… I think you can figure out the rest. 2-0

My brother Henry wins juniors with Luxbox.
Uhhh, cool? Was not expecting to win with Magnezone. I figure people must not play much Gyarados down here so I decide to play a different deck the next day; one with a good Gyarados matchup, but not quite as good, or so I thought. In retrospect, its matchup is not actually all that great.

Macon 12/27

Of course I attempt to play a funky Dusknoir/ Vileplume. I have everything planned out but when I get there, I forget to play my super duper Gengar counter (Ditto), and my Azelf. Bad decisions. I honestly would put my list here if I still had it.
Among familiar faces new to this day are Austin A., Grafton R., and Mychael B. & his family. Oh, and Vic Pruett… haha Vic. I ruv you rong time.

R1 VS Austin A. w/ Gyarados
Well, now that I am not playing Magnezone, I play a Gyarados round one. Everything is going pretty smoothly. I open with a prize deficit, but that is to be expected while setting up Night Spin and plume. Night Spin buys some time, and he takes the bait, knocking out Dusknoir X. I Judge him to flush away any BTSs and attempt to build up his damage while Night Spinning. But remember how I told you I forgot to play Azelf? Two Dusknoirs in the prize cards prevent me from drawing out the match. GG
0-1

R2 VS Mychael B. w/ Gengarplume
His hand is garbage and he basically can’t set up. He Sleep Poisons my Noir, but I level-up and Shadow Command to get the seventh damage counter. GG
1-1

R3 VS ? w/ Gyarados
I set up well and essentially beat him down with Night Spin while Judging him after every Twins.
2-1

R4 VS Spencer G. w/ Machamp
Some well-timed Judges and the constant annoyance of Night Spin win this game. At the end, I gamble and Damage Even his benched Machop with a DCE, and it pays off as he cannot knock me out. GG
3-1

I place fifth iirc. My brother Henry wins juniors with Luxbox again. Treavor beats Grafton in T2 to take the event in seniors.

Newnan 12/28

After Dusknoir’s debacle of a Gyarados matchup, I switch back to the only other deck I have. This time I put in the 1-1-1 Glaceon tech I had tried previously, as a counter-measure to Gengar. If I switch into Glaceon, it shuts off Fainting Spell, which can really help. Ann-Marie T. , Henry P., Nathan B., and Michael M. (who played Shuppet last year!) all returned. I also met Tristan L. and Kaitlin Y. Anyways, pairings!

R1 VS Vincent H. w/ Victreebel/ Vileplume
Nothing but respect for this guy. My Magnezone has difficulty switching in to anything without falling victim to a fat retreat cost, as Victreebel removes all his damage. In a very close game, I narrowly pull out the win using Magnezone Prime to blow stuff up.
1-0

R2 VS Michael M. w/ Shuppet
Karma’s a little bugger sometimes, so of course I get paired up against the other Shuppet player from last year. This is all fine and dandy except for the part where I find out he’s STILL playing Shuppet. With four Spiritombs and four Call Energies in the deck, I should be relatively safe from donking. As it turns out, I open double Magnemite and Collector, so going second I should get a T1 double tomb and sweep. As it turns out, I end up going first. Praying for a basic or call does not work, and I simply pass. Knowing my resistance is a very small edge, I watch as he drops several Crobats and decimates my poor little Magnemites.
1-1

R3 VS ? w/ Mother Gengar
He opens with Nidoran F and tries to set up as my Spiritomb both locks him and evolves my Pokémon. I begin switching into Glaceon for the knockout while avoiding Fainting Spell. Although I misplace an energy which almost costs me the game, I set up another Super Connectivity Magnezone and manage to use the power again, allowing me to attack on a turn which I almost prevented myself from doing so. I knock out Gengars too quickly, and take prizes faster than he, ultimately for the win.
2-1

R4 VS Mychael B. w/ Vilegar
Glaceon works miracles again. At first I simply switch into Glaceon and knock out Gengars, but Magnezone is Gengar bait, so I start attacking with Glaceon RR’s Ice Bind – as Glaceon has no powers and reduces Poltergeist damage by 10 with her Poké-Body (as well as having the obvious advantage of shutting off Fainting Spell and Level Down) she is a nightmare for Gengar to deal with.
3-1

R5 VS Kaitlin Y. w/ Kingchamp
This girl has reportedly donked two people in a row, so I’m scared. Starting sans tomb or call, going first with a lone basic. Not good. Sure enough, she pulls off the win on her first turn.
3-2

The ultimate winner of the day is Tristan L. w/ Luxray/ Garchomp/ Palkia G. An original deck if I ever saw one. My brother Henry misses cut this time. Guy Bennett wins masters with Steelix, which is pretty cool. Harrison L. gets sick and has to leave, which sucks a lot. At least he’s well on his way to an invite.

Franklin 12/29

So I’m reconsidering Magnezone, but I don’t really feel like building decks. I hastily put together a Machamp Prime/ Seeker deck only to discover that it sucks. As I try in vain to make it work, round 1 pairings are posted and I haven’t submitted a deck list. Woops. Without any time left, I decide to simply play Magnezone. Fortunately for me, I am granted late entry with a round 1 game loss.
At this event I meet Grafton’s friend Jason S., who’s a pretty cool guy.

R1 VS The Chair
I didn’t take any prize cards!
0-1

R2 VS Jackson H. w/ Dialgachomp
As I consider this to be one of Magnezone’s not-so-great matchups, this was going to be an uphill battle. I go for a quick Magnezone Prime and blow his Dialga out of the water with Lost Burn, but my Lost Zoning so many energies quickly catches up with me (especially with help from Remove Lost) as I am left powerless to stop his Garchomps from taking his remaining prize cards.
0-2

R3 VS Erika B. w/ Houndoom Prime
I set up a Magnezone and Gyro Ball for prize cards – this was a relatively straightforward match.
1-2

R4 VS Jason S. w/ Gallade/ Bronzong/ Cresselia & Darkrai Legend spread deck
I limit his options by trainer locking all game. I also set up Manectric to prevent Chop Up damage from happening. He manages to spread a little bit, but the Trainer lock is too much and I take my prizes without too much of a struggle.
2-2

R5 VS Michael M. w/ Shuppet
Ahh sweet revenge. Karma’s on my side this time, and I double Spiritomb lock him all game while Judging and Lookering his hands away. There isn’t much such a trainer-heavy deck can do.
3-2

After epically failing at the event, I do get the opportunity to judge top cut, which was pretty cool. Tristan L. even let me eat some of his Cheez-its. Henry P. wins in seniors, and Henry C. (my brother) wins juniors again.

Roswell 12/30

Seeing an increase in the popularity of Gyarados, and anticipating some Vilegar which Glaceon has so far fared quite well against, I decide to stick with Magnezone. To be honest, I kept going to the hotel at night and crashing instead of building decks. So I didn’t really have much of an alternative. I toyed around with Glisctomb but ultimately concluded that I couldn’t really write a good list, make the deck, and sleeve it, all in 20 minutes. So Magnezone it is. I narrowly turn in my list on time.
Adler and Beckett P. showed up finally – apparently they’d been stuck in traffic. Good to see them here.
Also, there was a restaurant nearby called ‘El Mexica Gourmet’. I almost took a photo to put on failblog.

R1 VS ? w/ Machamp
She takes an alarming early lead by Taking Out my tombs, and continually builds up Machamps. Left with few options, I use Magnezone Prime’s Lost Burn to send Machamp on an early vacation. I still can’t hit the belt I need to two-shot her champs, and I lose prizes fast. Using Regice to empty my hand and Magnezone Prime to replenish it, I desperately dig through my deck until I finally hit a Belt. I switch into Magnezone Prime with Gyro Ball, and thankfully her energy supply dwindles from there.
1-0

R2 VS Kaitlin Y. w/ Kingchamp
I fail to secure t1 trainer lock, and she gets the early lead with her speedy attackers and ever-annoying Spray Splashes. However, once I do get the lock into place, she has difficulty building up attackers (and even more difficulty finding the appropriate energy!) Gyro Ball into tomb, rinse, repeat.
2-0

R3 VS Drew C. w/ Gyarados
FINALLY a Gyarados matchup! But wait… what is this Eevee doing in my hand? Where are my Spiritombs and Calls? I do have a collector at least. Hold on, am I going first? You get the idea. Donk.
2-1

R4 VS Tristan L. w/ Luxray/ Garchomp/ Palkia
I was really dreading this matchup, but going second with a Spritomb start was pretty nice. I was holding four Supporters: Two Judges, a Looker, and a Bebe. Thinking that with Judge in my hand, Looker would do me little good, I decided to Bebe for Magnemite, and put the Looker on top over one of the two Judges in anticipation of a possible Smeargle. By some miracle, he went for the Smeargle and was met with a nasty surprise. From there, he really failed to draw anything worthwhile and I Gyro Balled everything with a Manectric in play in case he played Garchomp.
3-1

R5 VS Vincent H. w/ Mew/ Gyarados
A Gyarados matchup! Again! Thankfully, he doesn’t donk me and I hit him hard with Trainer lock. There isn’t really much more to say.
4-1

T4 VS Drew C. w/ Gyarados
Game one: By now he’s figured out that I don’t play any real Umbreon counter. After I one-shot a few of his Gyarados, he uses Twins to set up an Umbreon. So I do what I gotta do – in other words, I bring up Magneton and use Removal Pulse for 50. I also get heads, which means I discard a Special Dark Energy. Pretty cool. I knock out the Umbreon, and proceed to take the game. 1-0
Game two: Pretty much the same as game one. Once again he goes for Umbreon, and once again I knock it out with Magneton. And once again, without Umbreon, the game is pretty smooth sailing. 2-0

T2 VS Ann-Marie T. w/ Vilegar
Game one: Her set up is a lot faster than mine, and I find myself struggling to compete. Glaceon is prized and never sees the light of day. 0-1
Game two: This time, she fails to set up, and I make short work of her lousy start, which is because her deck is inconsistent. 1-1
Game three: We both set up relatively well. Manectric makes this a pretty close match, and in the end I narrowly take the win. 2-1

My brother doesn’t manage to clinch the win, but having won three so far is pretty impressive. Among the highlights of this day were lots of immature jokes at the top cut table (when someone pronounced ‘Bebe’ as ‘babe’) and Grafton screaming ‘WHY’D YOU GIVE ME A MOKEY MOKEY’ to the Yu-Gi-Oh arcade game as we were playing. Sadly, Josh M. left to watch top-naked men fighting for New Year’s. WHY?! :O

Lawrenceville 12/31

Embarrassingly enough, I play Magnezone. Again. I take out the RR Glaceon and put in the MD one with Snow Cloak; Snow Cloak can be a great move with which to knock out a Gengar, and Speed Slide goes through effects, namely Umbreon’s Moonlight Fang.

R1 VS Drew C. w/ Gyarados
Right off the bat I draw my T4 opponent from the day before. Going into this, I feel relatively comfortable, having switched my Glaceon for one that can counter Umbreon. However, this time he gets an Umbreon set up too quickly. As I struggle to find my water energies, he is killing my Pokémon; once I Gyro Ball Gyarados for the knockout, he starts spamming Moonlight Fang. I knock it out, but not before he gets a rescue energy on the thing, and as he kills my Glaceon, I am powerless to stop his Umbreon. Two Magnemites are prized, which means that I cannot set up enough Magnetons to take it out. Ironically, I beat Umbreon without a real counter, and I lost to Umbreon with a counter.
0-1

R2 VS Henry P. w/ Gyarados
Though I have just screwed up and lost my best matchup, I am thankful to be playing another Gyarados, especially one without that obnoxious Umbreon card. Though I go first with a Regice start and he obviously gets his trainers, I do have a call which I put to good use. Unable to knock out my Regice, he does 60 with Tail Revenge. I warp energy to tomb, collector, and begin the double tomb lock. I am unable to hit a belt for quite some time as I two-shot him and he one-shots me. Desperate to buy turns, I switch into zone prime to avoid a knockout. Upon finally hitting the Expert Belt, I roll him too quickly for him to win, and catch up even with a 3 prize deficit.
1-1

R3 VS Erika B. w/ Houndoom Prime
As I struggle to draw the Expert Belt again, she sets up slowly but surely. Gyro Ball keeps doing 60 and barely letting her Pokémon live, which seems to suit her just fine. She plays some Rocket’s Trickery card, forcing me to discard, then uses Houndoom’s Dark Roar, prompting another discard. I find my Expert Belt on the third turn of using Magnetic Draw, Gyro Ball her Houndoom Prime, then Power Wave it with Manectric. Then I proceed to Gyro Ball everything in play.
2-1

R4 VS Jason S. w/ Vilegar
Gyro Ball into Glaceon, rinse, repeat. He Shadow Rooms my Zone, as is the norm, and I attack with Snow Cloak and Speed Slide to devestate his Gengars while he does little with Shadow Room (and attempts to Poltergeist for 0, due to my having discarded my Trainers with Regice). In the end, he Lost Zones 13 Pokémon with Gengar Prime’s Hurl into Darkness, but it’s pretty irrelevant.
3-1

R5 VS Grafton R. w/ “Mega Judge” (Yanmega/ Magnezone Prime)
I trainer lock him from the start, and he struggles to set up. As Gyro Ball OHKOs his Yanmegas consistently, he struggles to match our hand sizes every turn and still keep the attackers coming.
4-1

So as top cut is posted, it seems to be exactly the same as the day prior, with the same decks and all. But this time I play against Mychael, while Drew and Ann-Marie play.

T4 VS Mychael B. w/ Vilegar
Game one: He sets up quickly and relentlessly, preying on my setup as I struggle to fight back. I do manage to get a Magnezone up and attack, but he takes the game. 0-1
Game two: I outspeed him with a fast Glaceon and keep my hand trainer free. 1-1
Game three: As he gets a turn one Hurl into Darkness and catches a Glaceon that I drew in my starting hand, I know I have to try a different approach. I take three prizes with Manectric’s Power Wave instead. As I try to set up another Magnezone, I realize time is winding down and make a fatal misplay by Gracing into a zone, when I realize I could’ve just Bebe’d the next turn, and he gets to Shadow Room it for 6. Time is called, and in a very close game, he pulls one prize ahead for the win. 1-2

My little brother wins again, now having won four of six Marathon tournaments thus far. Mychael goes on to beat Ann-Marie in the finals, and we go out for New Year’s dinner with her and Zach M. Oh yeah, and Ann-Marie’s dad made top 4 :D. Henry gets some super cheesy, sticky, gooey nachos, Zach gets some mushy green stuff, and needless to say, I lose my appetite. ‘Twas fun anyways. We narrowly make it back in time to see the ball drop in Times Square, which is certainly a tradition by now.

Marietta 1/1

So guess what I play… oh yeah, Magnezone. :/ Was gonna build straight Glaceon but didn’t have the cards – looking at the infectious influx of Gengar as the week progressed, I most certainly should have.

R1 VS Ann-Marie T. w/ Vilegar
My amazing Glaceon tech steamrolls her with Speed Slide and Snow Cloak, dealing quick death to her Gengars as she struggles to knock it out.
1-0

R2 VS Henry P. w/ Vilegar
You know, I’m glad he realized Gyarados is a bad deck, but Vilegar isn’t much better. He can’t take the heat from Glaceon (well, that might have been a poor choice of words, but you get the idea) and he ultimately seals his fate by bringing up an Azelf when I had one prize left, instead of trying to go for the Fainting Spell.
2-0

R3 VS Jason S. w/ Vilegar
I can’t draw the cards I need to get Glaceon X up and running, and he simply Cursed Drops my Glaceon to death. So I use Manectric to take all my prizes, as he has tons of targets waiting to suffer the wrath of Power Wave. I seal the deal by blowing up his Gengar Prime with my Magnezone Prime.
3-0

R4 VS Mychael B. w/ Vilegar
I don’t really remember this game, but I lost. Since when do I play 4 Vilegars in a row the first 4 rounds? :/
3-1

R5 VS Ty W. w/ Luxchomp
I stupidly judge a supporter-less hand, and he rushes my Manectric early on. As I collector for the Electrike to put another down, I realize it’s prized. Silly me, shoulda checked before. My belted zone takes a grand total of one prize before being knocked out. As I Palmer, I eventually set up another tric and Power Wave an empty hand, but he eventually draws what he needs to knock me out.
3-2

Zach M. is such a cool cat he beat Jason K. first round, and he makes top cut. I play some game called Cthulu with Grafton and Jason. I win somehow because Jason sabotages Grafton. After he’s eliminated, we go out to Fuddrucker’s and eat some of the nastiest food ever, including shakes with croutons in them. Well, that was just me. Zach has to leave after that and he’s too lame to give me a goodbye hug. Oh well, his loss.

Canton 1/2

So I don’t really want to play Magnezone after having played it so much, so I trade my awesome Magnezone deck for Ann-Marie’s Vilegar deck that runs 2 unown q. Yeah, she got the better end of the deal.

R1 VS Erika B. w/ Houndoom Prime
I let her take the first prize so I can twins, then basically poltergeist everything.
1-0

R2 VS Someone I don’t remember
Sorry, all I know is that it had a Gastly in it. He never gets set up.
2-0

R3 VS Adler P. w/ Luxchomp & 1-1 Dialga
I quickly fall behind 1-5 on prizes, as Gengar is so prone to do, but I manage to level-down his Dialga with Vileplume in play. I KO a Garchomp and hurt his Luxray. Using Seeker, I keep the Gengars coming and eventually knock out a benched Luxray to effectively take the game.
3-0

R4 VS Christina P. w/ Feralizone
I trainer lock her, flip a freaking heads as I Fainting Spell her Zone Prime, and KO the Feraligatr, which had like 4 energies on it, with 3 Shadow Rooms. Then when she has two Pokémon in play, I seeker and poltergeist for the game. Gengar is such a stupid card.
4-0

R5 VS Ann-Marie T. w/ Magnezone
Of course I’m scared of this matchup knowing she is playing the BDIF. No wonder she’s undefeated. Unfortunately, she can’t set up a Glaceon until way too late. Her Manectric starts carpet bombing my field, but a Seeker and Psychic Restore take away Power Wave targets. I can’t KO the beast because she’s holding like no trainers and it doesn’t have a power. The only way I was able to knock it out was lucksacking on Fainting Spell, which I did. Wow, that was a close game – whoever built that Magnezone deck is a genius! I didn’t deserve this win.
5-0

So the judging staff is on the phone for awhile about some deck check problem. Turns out, I didn’t write Spiritomb on my list. I’m surprised figuring out the correct action took so long though. The judges correctly granted my deck 4 additional psychic energy cards in place of Tomb. They even gave me them, and didn’t want them back, so thanks! I also got a warning – I’m glad this happened, because I wouldn’t want to learn to be careful with my list the hard way at Nats.

T4 VS Brandon C. w/ Gengar/ Jumpluff
Game one: Without my Spiritomb, I decide that I’ll give it a shot and so I pitch-dark instead of evolving. I wait for him to kill my Gastly, then I twins and set up a Vileplume. I then Seeker his only benched Pokémon and Poltergeist for the game. 1-0
Game two: So, having beaten something without Spiritomb felt good, but I had to repeat. With a Gastly start however, I simply do the same thing with the pitch-dark and twins and take the win. 2-0

T2 VS Ty W. w/ Luxchomp
Ummm…. I essentially realize it’ll be a waste of time so I circle ‘Lost’. GG!

I hear Milford, MA had 6 rounds top 8 in seniors. Wowza.

Props
Mom for driving me around everywhere! :)
Georgia Aquarium for being an amazing experience (and a great place to spend Christmas day!).
Magnezone for being so cool (and not being Gengar or Gyarados) <3
And on that note, Glaceon as well :D
8 days = awesome
Stevi B’s! Most amazing pizza place ever.
The tournament staff for making it happen.
Adler P. – Sorry you couldn’t make it till Roswell, but you still performed impressively. Glad I didn’t have to play against you with Magnezone!
Ann-Marie T. – Definitely had fun hanging out with you, and certainly playing you. Who else would force me to flip for Fainting Spell? Can’t wait till Nats.
Austin A. – It’s too bad you couldn’t make it to all the events, but congrats on doing well. See you at Nats?
Beckett P. – Haha another guy with long hair. You are pretty awesome, and if my brother weren’t in juniors, I’d be rooting for you. PS your Gengar list is really good!
Drew C. – Nice meeting you and playing you – definitely wish I’d put in a better Umbreon counter :p
Evan M. – Glad to see that you showed up and did well! I remember playing you at the marathon last year. Hope to see you in Indy.
Grafton R. – lol you are one of the funniest guys I’ve met. It’s really cool how you can crack jokes about bears during your game :p And the Mokey Mokey thing is priceless.
Grant W. – Nice to see you at the marathon again. Hope you win states or some sort of big tournament – maybe you can be a National Champ like Justin!
Harrison L. – Sucks that you had to go home, but it was nice seeing you again and I’m glad you won lots of points. You have a good shot at securing the invite before Nats.
Henry C. – What a champ. Too bad I have to deal with him every day. :p
Henry P. – Nice seeing you in GA. You added to the level of competition, and I hope you’ll do the same at Nats. Also had fun cracking jokes with you ;)
Jason S. – It was really cool meeting you and playing Cthulu with you and Grafton. Loved listening to you guys joke around. Hope you’ll be at Nats.
Jeff B. – 6-0 with Mewperior among the world’s best. Congrats, and hope to see you win more in the near future! You also happen to be a really cool judge ;)
Josh M. – Wish I could’ve played you more. Playing T-Tar was pretty sick. Hope you enjoyed watching UFC over playing Pokémon . Haha jk I’m glad you got to do what you wanted for New Year’s. Good luck winning in NV!
Justin W. – Glad to hear you won a tournament. Keep on doing that! See you at Nats.
Kaitlin Y. – I enjoyed meeting and being subsequently donked by you. Sucks that you missed top cut in Franklin; hopefully you’ll top Nats though! And if you don’t go to Nats there’s no excuse ‘cuz you live in IN ;)
Khi P. – Nice seeing you again. Pretty cool to see you compete with the best of the best.
Mike M. – Haha, keeping the dream alive with Shuppet.
Myke B. – You were a lot of fun to play over the marathon. Glad I got to play you, and congrats on winning in Lawrenceville.
Nathan B. – Nice seeing you again. Sorry the Magnezone deck didn’t work out for you :/
Tristan L. – You’re a really fun guy. Thanks for the Cheez its ;) Also, I owe you a Lucario and a Looker’s, I’ll get them to you at Nats. If you need ‘em before then, lmk and I can mail them.
Ty W. – Wish I’d gotten to talk to you more, but you seem like a nice guy. I had fun losing to you :)
Vic P. – I ruv you rong time.
Zach M. – Had fun with you over the marathon. Glad you guys could make it from NV. You are too pro, beating Ness R1, and you are probably one of the only people who shares my taste in music. See you guys at Nats!

Slops
R1 Game Loss in Franklin lol
Forgetting to write Tomb on my list >.<
Gengar
Gyarados
Karma/ Donks
No Burger King
Harrison having to leave
George W. for not being able to come :/
Ummm I’ll stop listing slops :)

The Georgia Marathon was wonderful this year, and I hope it’ll be on the calendar for years to come.

Thanks for reading. Comments appreciated! :)

Game two: This time, she fails to set up, and I make short work of her lousy start, which is because her deck is inconsistent.

Yeah, that's why you ended up going 6-1 with it two days later. ;-)
Fudrucker's was definitely interesting haha.

cya at Nats.

Still can't stop laughing

BTW Good job and I'll see you @ nats :thumb:

The issue here wasn't just your deck. It was the fact that 3 out of the 8 in top cut had deck list problems. PLEASE make sure you guys are more careful as the tournaments increase in importance. We tried to be as lenient as possible because we knew that none of the mistakes were malicious.

Congrats on your fine showing in the marathon.

Rick

Smooth moves Kevin... Smooth moves. Grats on doing so well. Gratz to your brother too.

But yeah... I don't really need my Looker's back. Consider it a gift. The Lucario on the other hand I might need. Not before Nats though. If you don't bring it to Nats... You won't be getting any of my Cheez-its. Thats right, I went there.

Shoulda played straight Garchomp imo. Magnezone is too good. But do you like switch to Glaceon or play water? lol. Cause I don't know if that will beat Vilegar for you when they shadow room you for one energy and you need 2. . .

Cool story. Lolz at how machamp "sucks" then you read the card after watching me use it at Salem. :p Good job by the way.

They take OUT all four starters, and you wreck shop with a handicapped deck.

Man, I quit. I can't see ever getting that sick-nasty with the Pokemanz ...

That's rediculous right there! WOW!

Amt: Pfffft. I'm just a lucksack. And one water was so the right way to go. Cya at Nats.

flariados: Thanks man appreciate it :)

Mama_Luigi: I know it is, wish I'd had the cards. :/ Thanks :)

Lumneion: Haha, glad to see you have a sense of humor unlike certain people at the table... [;)]

Gumbydangit: Hmmm thank you for the clarification. Will be more careful with my lists from now on. It was a pleasure to have you judge our matches. Hope to see you in the judging staff at Nats :)

TLackey: Oh no YOU DIDN'T GO THERE - No cheez-its?! Better be sure to bring that Lucario.

Happiny13: Yeah it says in the report, I usually used Snow Cloak and Speed Slide. Glaceon is awesome :)

Nugget: Oh hush, you. I said the deck sucked. ;)

R_A: Thanks dude! Appreciate it :D

Darkwalker: Yeah, it's so I can one-shot Gyarados while switching into Tomb. Works, too.

I've found Gyrados to be an easy match already even without the Lucario, but then my list is quite a bit different than yours. If it's just for the Gyrados match-up, it seems more like a win more card than anything else.

Great read as always; even if it did take me until now to actually read it.

In response to the above post, I prefer Lucario GL in the deck, personally. I've done some testing with the deck as well.

Also; you should know that Mokey Mokey is a pro card.

You appear to have forgotten about guacamole ;D I'll remind you at nats... there was this amazing Mexican place right by where the tournament is.

Good seeing you in GA, Kevin. I'm glad you had a good run. Good luck at states, regionals, and nats. I am still stuck on the mystery about why you like Glaceon so much... Anyways, I'll see you at nats.
