It's that time again for another set of Battle Road events. Looks like we're spreading out here in OKLA. The Tulsa area has shown great progress so they'll get in on the action. Below is the info. These are all FREE events. The max top cut of an age group is 4. The prize payout is also to the top 4 in each age group.

Remember that the new floor rules, format, penalty guidelines, etc. will all be in effect. Registration ends 45 minutes after the listed start time. If you don't have you deck checked by then, you can still register but are subject to being counted late with a first round loss.

Any questions just ask on here.

Look forward to this new season.

A Tulsa area Pokemon weekend. I can't wait! Hope to see a few of our turnpike friends. I think I might even be able to cruise out for the 19th.

Seth and I will be up there for both!

Why aren't we having a BR in Norman, but one in Owasso?

Does Tulsa really have that many more players than the OKC area? I doubt it, and the OP rankings support my assumption. Not to mention that the Norman/OKC tournaments consistently pull higher attendance than those anywhere else. Unless it was impossible to grab a Norman location, this BR set up makes absolutely no sense.

And no, I'm not just saying this because I live in Norman.

Not really more players, but more players that show up. Owasso will be a test to see if the younger Tulsans will go just a little bit.

Here's the #'s for the spring BR's --

JRs SRs MAs Total
5/30/09 OKC 1 6 17 24
6/6/09 ADA 2 3 17 22
6/7/09 TULSA 16 11 17 44
6/13/09 NORMAN 2 6 25 33

The way I see itis this. For the 2 OKC metro area events, (Note I do not include ADA as being part of the metro area), the avg is 28.5 players & some of them were from Tulsa. at both events.
Add in Ada to that & its 26 1/3 players.
Tulsa had 44 players & some of them were from the OKC area. Don't remember exactly how many but it seems like there were 8.

I don't expect you to go to Tulsa anyway since you won't go to other events even closer.

OKLA is only allowed 4 BR events this go round period. If attendance for these events deem otherwise it will be different next time.

The OP rankings have no bearing on whether they get an event or not. You must have meant "better": players maybe?

FYI here's some more #'s
Spring 07 - 3 metro events - Total att. = 61 - Avg = 20 1/3
Fall 07 - 2 metro events - Total att. = 30 - Avg = 15
Sping 08 - 2 metro events - Total att. = 52 - Avg = 26
Fall 08 - 2 metro events - Total att. = 56 - Avg = 28
Since Ryan hasn't posted it about ADA yet I'll let you know some of it now.

Ada Boys & Girls Club
915 S. Hickory
Ada, OK
Start time 10am.

*groan* Great, only one that Deb'll drive to. Time to start asking for a ride.

I kinda don't get, though, why Norman was nixed while Ada stayed. =/ According to your numbers, Mr. Roy, Ada got the least amount of players in Spring.

The main reason Norman was nixed & Ada stayed is because Norman is NOT a league location while Ada is.
There is one other reason that I can't anything about here that is a surprise for most people.

These type of events are nor the less serious crowd of players, (always has been), therefore more suited to league based areas. Just feel lucky OK has been able to keep having 4 events and POP hasn't made us cut 1.

I can think of a FEW reasons Norman would be cut. =/

But it's better for OK as a whole to have another Tulsa area BR, considering the ridic amount of Jr's there. Giving them a lot to do this BR season (since they likely can't carpool like the older group does) makes it more likely that they'll keep playing. And THAT is in the best interest of the game, not giving the Masters-dominated OKC area another BR.

Tomorrow is the day. Our first premiere event of the new season. Hope to see a lot of faces there. Don't forget you damage counters, translucent randomizer, poison & burn markers, etc.

Congrats to the winners at Game HQ last Saturday. Now it's time to get ready for a TULSA weekend. Starting tomorrow & ending Sunday for 2 great BR's.

3 down & 1 to go. Great job to those that showed up for the Owasso & Tulsa events. Now just hang on for a couple of weeks for ADA. Looking for a big crowd at ADA. Remember, Dr. D. is the PTO of the ADA event so you never know what to expect.
