I'm not sure exactly where to put this, but I figured I post it anyway.

Does the BW-on rotation have special metal and dark energy in it? Does anyone know about Japan's format? Has there every been a format without them since their creation.

If there is no sp. metal or dark energy, what do people think this will mean for the format?

No Special Metal or Dark in BLW-on.

So far, there's nothing from Japan to suggest they are being reprinted.

Not a bad thing imo. They are a hangover from pre-DP days and there isn't really any reason for them to exist any more. Dark and Metal Pokemon will have to adjust their sense of entitlement.

There has not ever been a format without them since Neo Genesis. I agree with baby mario - it's going to be strange not having them around, but it isn't necessarily a bad thing.

It became sort of strange once they received their own basic energy in Diamond and Pearl. Why should they continue to have special energy that only they get to use, as well as having the energy that everyone else does?

An interesting, refreshing change.

I honestly had hoped we'd eventually get Special Energy akin to Darkness and Metal for the OTHER Pokemon Types, especially the sub-Types that are easy to forget exist (e.g. an "Ice" Special Energy that provided (W) plus an effect).

Never happened. Might complicate things a bit much. So while I'll miss it, I am also okay with it. Besides they were smart and made Dark Patch only work on basic Darkness Energy, making sure we'd drop it ourselves before rotation.

I will truly miss the Sp. energies. But I think it will be nice to play a format without having to worry about Darkrai popping a Sp. Dark out of no where.

I won't really miss them... It was always weird that we still had them after Metal/Darkness got basic energies... It's not like any other type got such a treatment. (Certainly not lately, anyway.) I like how all the Special Energies are really simple now. No added effects, just supplying energy.

Well one thing that's going to be nice is that historically we've had metal pokemon with lower HP and dark pokemon with lower base damage values to compensate for the potential of their special energies.

So now the design space is opened up to have 'normal' numbers on dark/metal pokemon again, no more concern about the interaction with the special energies.

Seems like a lot of Dark Rush cards were already designed without special dark energy in mind.
